Interestingly I called a target store today and the one that I did call did not have any stock, just a reserve, but the lady was kind enough to check all of the other stores from her computer and found some that were in stock but they were not sure if they were reserved or not. I was calling around to help my mom get a 7+ rose gold and luckily I found one, 256GB and it was reserved but the client backed out and now my mother is getting a nice new phone. This is in the Austin area.

Got one 128G RG plus at my local Target. Thanks for the info OP.

To check Target stock you can use brickseek. Not real-time but still decent.

My local Target had what I wanted but wouldn't sell for retail price, only on plans. The guy asked his manager and she told him they couldn't until some time in Oct when the inventory was better. Boo!

That sucks. I just received a call from my local Target that my preorder had come in for 128GB Black 7 Plus and I was hoping to just purchase it outright.

Do you have the DPCI numbers? I'd love to use Brickseek but can't find DPCI numbers to check.
The target mobile app has DPCI listed at the bottom in the section "product details", e.g. 128 RG+ is 255-14-0768, 128 MB+ is 255-14-0765.

you guys are awesome. i didn't even really think about target. i called a target that was 35 min from my house and they actually have the iPhone 7+ 126 mb and rose gold in stock and was able to walk out with two new phones.

Glad that I could help!!!

I was able to snag a 128GB Matte Black from the Target I work at today.
Can you confirm if you are able to just buy the phone outright? I hate messing with carrier financing, credit checks, etc. If the rep won't sell it to me outright, should I just ask to speak to a manager, or is more of a corporate rule for new iPHone releases? Thanks!

Do you have to wait until the 'mobile' people get into target? I called and the electronics people said they can not do anything or even look up stock until the mobile store people get in at 1PM?

I did carrier financing but I was given the option to pay full price. That was after he had input my Verizon info though so I don't know if you could just buy the phone without linking it to a carrier in some way.

Yes. The mobile department is operated by a third-party company so Target employees can not do anything concerning phone sales.

Do they let you buy an unlocked phone full price from any carrier?

Not 100% sure. I was given the option to pay full price after he had put in my Verizon info so I'm not clear on that. You should call and ask.

I picked up my 7 Plus from Target yesterday and guy tried to let me buy outright but the system wouldn't allow it or maybe he didn't know how to do it, so I did carrier financing instead with the largest down payment their system would allow which was $840. So I was left with a balance of $30 for the phone or $1.25 a month for 24 months. I plan to pay that off immediately to own it the phone outright.

Dude why are people on this site so damn uptight?

I,for one, am extremely grateful for this thread as I have been trying everywhere to get my gf her 7+ . Apple store, ATT store, BB, Frys, nothing. Not a single color in any size, anywhere.

Then I saw this thread and went to target where they had every color except JB. I guess Target is the secret spot right now. The online locator on target.com works if anyone is looking for them.

And I am thankful as well. I found 7+s for both my wife and I (Rose Gold, Matte Black, both 128G) at the local Target today, easy peasy.

just went to a local target, said they only have one gold in stock at another local target store, and no chance in buying off contract.

Called the two Targets by me. Neither had any. There website said they had none as well.

The lady IN the Target store said they had none. When I showed her that the app said they did, she checked the back room and found them.

Yep, they wouldn't/couldn't sell off contract to me either. I was OK with that.

Hmm. I have access to an AT&T account, but I intend to get my new phone activated on T-Mobile. I'm wondering if this will work out after all. I have one reserved at a local target that I am picking up after work. He said he could sell it to me outright, but I'm not sure if the phone would be locked to the AT&T account. Guess we will roll the dice tonight!
