The next iPhone will be the iPhone 5S. The incremental update will be iPhone 5SJ in memory of Steve Jobs.

Each announcement from now on will be done on the anniversary of his death, and will include images from past Apple images of Steve to commemorate his life and what he has done for the company

Why fix something that ain’t broke?

It must be pressurizing for Apple to reinvent the Phone after they perfected the iPhone 4 with the 4S.

I guess Apple has no choice... since the mobile industry moves so fast and very competitive. Back to square one i.e. iPhone 5 may have faults - all fixed in the iPhone 5S.

I find it funny how sites that quote sources that turns out to be full of **** never can accept they were wrong - instead it is always the case the information is correct but it's happening at a later time.

Well my 4s is awesome so idc about the redesign. Would be cool if it took another year and a half to come out so I'd be due for an early upgrade haha.

next iPhone should rock the house.

Steve Jobs edition... you know it's coming.

I continually fail to understand why people don't like the iPhone 4 design. It is a beautiful phone and by all accounts the antenna issue has been solved with the 4S. I couldn't really say the same thing from the original iPhone to the 3G design. I loved the original design but even though the antenna was better in the 3G it didn't feel like an Apple device. You can't say that of the 4S.

iPhone to 3G was dictated by need for a better antenna. 3GS to 4 was dictated by the 3G(s) case being a huge compromise of function over form. The only reason to upgrade the 4 case design would be to increase durability (you can break about any phone currently on the market by dropping it but the iPhone gets more attention due to the glass).

How long has the Mac Pro been in the same form factor? That isn't a consumer device so lets say iMac. Not to mention, who really cares what the iMac looks like these days (and it used to be a big deal)? There shouldn't be a push to upgrade the form factor just to make it look different. The upgrade should increase functionality.

I don't think talking about it next year will be too soon. Most of the new contacts that people ungraded to the new iPhone 4S is 2 years. See you in 2013. :p

I bet it will not be teardrop shape, stupid and off balance in landscape. that's why the macbook air is teardrop, and ipad isn't.

It's pretty much common sense the nextiphone will be a redesign

You'd be surprised how often common sense is wrong. The perception that iPhone will get a redesign has been perpetuated by link baiting websites that largely crosspost "stories" in an echo chamber. So yes, the knowledge is common. But as we saw with the 4S, it was wrong. And I do feel sorry for the tech sites because their current business model pretty much dictates this kind of behavior. If they waited to only post information they were sure about to any degree they'd barely post at all. No posts, less viewers, less money from ads.

I think Apple want some to think the iPhone 5 will look like what was leaked for the case designs, but that it was only disinformation. That mock-up, based on the case designs, looks like the iPod Touch. Why would Apple give their flagship product the look of the secondary product's 3 year old design? No way in hell. Expect it to be as different as the iPhone 4 was radically different. :apple:

This is a new low for MacRumors to be honest.

The iPhone 4S was released yesterday.

Give it a rest would you.

iPhone 4/4S -------> iPhone 5 (bigger screen?).
For me, I find that the current 3.5' screen is perfect - I can just do everything with one hand... speculations that the Nexus Prime is 4.65-inch. Thats huge. If you really want a big screen, get a tablet.

I still amire the look of the Mac Pro, flawless design - love it. There isn't much pressure to change the design as what you said and because its hidden away underneath your desk whereas with phones its much different i.e. when someone answers their phone you sometimes subconsciously notice it.

This never ends, I love it.

I do too. It's the Apple way.

People that complain it's too early, are those who spend too much time looking in the rear view mirror. The 4S proves what I've been saying for months, it's just a placeholder until Apple can sort out whatever they're struggling with to bring out a redesigned model with a modern size display. The tiny 3.5" that occupies that space now is way too small for today's use.

Only those who don't really need a full fledged smartphone like it. And while that's a large number, just because Apple can sell it, doesn't make it the best. Oh sure it's quite nice, but far from Apples best work. Time to get serious and dominate in _both_ sales AND performance.

Common Apple we _know_ you can do it.

That said what thrills me about the 4S, is the larger profit margin for Apple. This has already translated in an increase in my stock price, as well as saving me the hassle & money of actually buying one. By not being a phone that I find compelling it's made it easy to just skate by with my iP4, let others be the beta testers for some of the new features, while I get my money's worth out of iOS 4.3.x

That along with continuing to enjoy Snow Leopards speed, stability & refinement it's going to be a stress free year.

This is the very first year I've passed on a new iPhone and it's actually a nice feeling.

I've been hearing about iPhone rumors for WAY too long.

where are the MacBook Pro rumors? I'm really looking to jump on the MacBook bandwagon when it comes with Ivy Bridge

Down voted the article.
Don't you think it's an overkill, MacRumors?
Seriously give it a rest..
