I hope it's not as wide as the leaked design. I see these android phones that seem so huge and would never want to carry in my pocket. I'm all for a redesign but I don't need a tablet for a phone.

4" screen MAXIMUM and NO bigger in size then the Nokia N9, because it has a 4" screen and is fractionally bigger then the iPhone 4. Just make the damn thing lighter and give it a metal or plastic back. And keep the 4S camera or make it better :)

All these rumours kind of spoil the Iphone 4S launch, let's enjoy the current design.

I have no doubt the next model is a total redesign but I'm sure there's more things like Siri or software surprises rather than just design.

You'll be back in Febeuary when the iPad3 hysteria starts... and you know it.

I hope they update iOS because it's been looking the same for quite a while now. :( I also want a bigger screen. But that's it. It can look the same, idc, just want a bigger screen.

iPhone 4/4S -------> iPhone 5 (bigger screen?).
For me, I find that the current 3.5' screen is perfect - I can just do everything with one hand... speculations that the Nexus Prime is 4.65-inch. Thats huge. If you really want a big screen, get a tablet.

I still amire the look of the Mac Pro, flawless design - love it. There isn't much pressure to change the design as what you said and because its hidden away underneath your desk whereas with phones its much different i.e. when someone answers their phone you sometimes subconsciously notice it.

I would not hold your breath for a bigger iPhone. As mentioned elsewhere, a larger screen isn't exactly new technology. If Apple thought the iPhone would be better with a larger screen they would have launched with a larger screen (remember, they pretty much set the design of modern smart phones with the original iPhone). And Apple released a solution for activities that require a bigger screen. iCloud will make sure your iPad has all the stuff your iPhone has. Yes, I know that requires you have an iPad (and thats largely the point).

As far as Android phones all getting more and more razor blades, I mean larger screens, it just creates confusion. Which screen size is for me? Should I get a bigger screen but the phone is running an older OS version and is slower? Android phones can really only compete on hardware spec sheets. No metric is safe from the "larger is better" mentality.

Regarding the Mac design thing. Upgrading the form factor just to upgrade it has risks. How long did the iMac G4 form factor last? How long has the essential elements of the iMac G5 form factor last? The G4 design had issues with the sunflower elements. Yeah, it was cool looking and a status symbol of sorts (really, this was the time of candy flavored Macs...it is hard to remember how iMacs were "toys" that had new color cases every revision). But the design sucked (and was also hard to repair). I feel a tear-drop iPhone would be the same sort of mistake. A change that is purely aesthetic and has substantial use drawbacks.

Arn, we get it. You guys commissioned a mock up and want to get your money out of it. Enough. We know what you think it's going to look like. Do you really need to post it to every next gen iPhone rumor?

I believe it will be called the "4G"
potentially followed by the "4GS"
After, I hope they return to simply iPhone

I'm not seeing that. What kind of progression is the 4 to 4S to 4G to 4GS? I'm not claiming I know what they'll do but that seems unlikely.

So they're saying the 6th iPhone will be called the iPhone 5?

Wouldn't "iPhone 6" (2012) and "iPhone 6S" (2013) be the expected names?

Also, the two-year cycle shown with the 3G -> 3GS and 4 -> 4S will probably mean in 2013 we will see the same "disappointed" rage that the new iPhone isn't a drastic change compared to the 2012 model (and the same "I will just wait for the 2014 iPhone" comments as well).

I think it is more likely they'll completely drop the revision number from the name before they put the antenna generation back on the name. (I'm not saying they'll drop the revision number next generation because there is a very real problem of differentiating which iPhone to get as the only other quick and fast way to tell is by whether the phone has an A4 or A5...I can see them dropping the revision number when they don't have to tell us how much faster the new iPhone is.)

i5

Well, I now think that the iPhone 5 case leaks may be accurate....the question is....will Apple stick with it now that everyone knows what it looks like??
Well, they did stick with the 4s despite the 4s antenna frame parts being leaked 9 months ago!

I'm leaving for the Nexus Prime...4s just didn't do it for me, I wanted atleast 4" screen...siri seems cool though.

I look forward to coming back for the iPhone 5 with a 4" screen.

Apple with iOS is right now locked into a specific aspect ratio: 960-by-640-pixel or multiples of that. Android phones however can have a widescreen display with 1280 by 640 or similar. That would make the phone the same width but the screen covering the entire front of the phone. Physically the phone would not be bigger than an iPhone.

I wonder if Apple would change their aspect ratio if Android phones with wider screens are successful.

Are we really going to start this crap again?? Rumors taken as facts that lead to disappointment and Pissing and Moaning. Really, do we want to go through this again??

Good luck with that...

Whenever it comes out i'll get it regardless. But really? rumours already? its only Oct!

*slits wrists* If I hear one more rumor with that picture on the front page...

So, why does everyone think they'll call it the iPhone 5, when in reality it's actually the 6th? :confused:

Well, the 3G was actually, the 2nd, and the 4S was actually, like, the 5th, so, actually.... your logic is horrid.

Yes, that's why we are here. Who cares about a phone we can have? Boring! Let's talk about the iPhone 5.

I doubt this will be the case. Next upgrade will be A6/1GB Ram/4G/USB 3.0/MAYBE Thunderbolt. This will be the AMOLED iPhone IMO, and until AMOLED can avoid burn in, use less energy on bright items, come reliably to 326 ppi and be cheap enough, I don't see why Apple would use it.

Especially since the only ones making such displays are...Samsung.

I say 2013 on this design. Next phone will be the iPhone 4G. I know its speculation, but those are the only things I see really needing an upgrade and on the roadmap across the board next year. And Apple will want to fool around with the Galaxy Nexus Prime whatever its called before making a determination.

Also, this design leaves out curved glass, which Apple has been looking towards, and I doubt Samsung has that patented. In other words, I still see this being the next iPod Touch, and that would explain why the iPod Touch wasn't upgraded anyway.

won't the next iphone be the iphone 6?

1 = iPhone
2 = iPhone 3G
3 = iPhone 3GS
4 = iPhone 4
5 = iPhone 4S
6 = iPhone 5 or 6?

and the next Mac OS X should be called Snow Lion. I'm sure of it
