That's cool. Thanks for the suggestion. I actually prefer the Forecast tweak over that. I'm really into visual minimalism. See my lockscreen screen shot.
Same here. See my post, #109. That's my lockscreen, which is pretty much the same as yours.

Only exception being that I'm using LivePapers with the Nexus wallpaper so I have bars streaking across my screen randomly. I edited them to be grayscale though as the whole theme I've gone for is black/gray.

Oh, true. That's right. I saw that screenshot before but didn't realize it was set up like mine. Good taste! Although I've got you beat when it comes to status bar minimalism! :p

I personally see no need for the carrier logo. If you aren't connected to your carrier, it will be reflected by a lack of bars (or signal strength in your case). And having the battery percent and circle illustration seems redundant. The percentage is much more precise.

What is the function of the status bar icon that looks like the "increase brightness" symbol from the Macintosh F-keys?

Yeah, you got me there. That's ok though. That's one place I'm cool with icons. You can't tell because my wallpaper is black, but my status bar is transparent. I wanted to make my wallpaper extend top to bottom. When one of the bars from the livepapers tweak runs behind the status bar though it's apparent.

The battery thing is a tweak. The circle reduces according to the amount of power you have left and once it hits twenty percent it goes red. It's a visual. I acutally have the percentage turned off because the tweak takes care of that. Otherwise, I'd have two percentages showing. As to the carrier logo, that's actually just the graphic. I edited "Sprint" out of the logo and redirected Zeppelin to the new graphic set.

LOL! That's the weather icon from the topic of this thread. In my screenshot in #109 it was sunny, so weather icon showed the sun in the status bar.

Cool. I used to have my status bar transparent. I'm not sure why I changed it to black. I probably had a wallpaper at one point with a color at the top that was making the status bar icons hard to see. I'll have to look into livepapers, although that sounds like something that might eat up a little extra battery life. Due to my profession, I'm on the phone a bunch during the day, so I have to weigh heavily the need for battery preservation vs. fuctionality/viewing pleasure.

I know the battery thing is a tweak. I'm just saying, for the sake of minimalism, I prefer just the number (not even the percentage sign), instead of the number plus the circle. You could always set the number to turn red when it gets below "x" percent. Whatever you like best, though. I don't meant to be rude or sound critical.

Is that "sunny" weather icon one you swapped out for the stock ones? If I recall correctly, for the brief period I was using Weather Icon to show the weather in the status bar, I recall seeing a the "sunny" icon as a colorful animation of a sun, basically like the one that shows in the stock Weather app. I could be wrong though. Wouldn't be the first time. :)

No, I didn't think you were being rude at all. No worries.

Livepapers uses OPEN GL ES to do it's rendering. That means it's not hitting the battery because it's drawing CPU. Additionally, the devs put an automatic stop time in. If you leave your screen on for a minute or two the animation will stop. Touch the screen and it starts again. When you are in an app, the tweak backgrounds so it's not continuing to animate while you aren't at the homescreen.

Additionally, you can set it to function on just the lockscreen, just the homescreen(s) or both. It's really very efficient on battery.

Only problem is that the devs (highschoolers) stopped development at a certain point. Other than the basic wallpaper (that comes with the tweak) there are only a few others out. There was talk of a live weather wallpaper (one of the reasons I went with this tweak) but nothing has happened. The additional wallpapers you have to buy though. I got the Nexus one because I didn't care for the stock one that came with it.

Yeah, I think we depart a bit as far as minimalism in the status bar, LOL!

As to WeatherIcon, I can't answer your question. This is the first time I got the tweak and the first time it started working in the status bar. It could have something to do with Sprint though as Sprint has a bad habit of using real simple icons in the status bar.

Doesn't increased CPU cycles count as a hit on the battery? Or are you just saying it's not as much of a hit as another method of rendering?

How would sprint have anything to do with the icons used in the status by bar the Weather Icon tweak? Not to mention, one of the beautiful things about the iPhone platform is that Apple makes sure that no carrier is able to pre-load their own content/apps/icons/etc. prior to shipping the phone to you.

Yes, I'm saying that it has minimal impact on the CPU.

As to Sprint and icons. If you compare a Sprint iPhone (stock) to another carrier's iPhone (stock) you will see that some of the stock icons are different. At least that has been my observation. Sprint iPhones show black and white icons (often just outlines). AT&T iPhones for instance seem to use more complex or corful icons.

So my guess is that the pool of icons that WeatherIcon 6 has to draw from on my iPhone is somewhat simpler. In the attached image you can see AT&T using color and drop shadows in their icons. Sprint doesn't do that.

But the phone doesn't come pre-loaded with those little weather icons that the Weather Icon tweak uses in the status bar. A stock iPhone only shows weather info (AFAIK) in the stock Weather app, and that stock Weather app is exactly the same regardless of your carrier. No?

I don't know. I was just speculating, based on past experiences with Sprint and a lack of history with this tweak.

Maybe they changed things, IDK, but you're probably right.
