I've noticed that since Sony released the Slim PSP, a ton more people are looking for PSPs compared to DS Lites.
One little question since our European PSP Slim takes after Lara's waist- can you subscribe to text RSS feeds? I'd like to sit there with the PSP on a dock or something and make a little "beep" noise whenever one of my regular sites posts something new.
And Sony I would also completely love an email client!
3.71 M33-4 is now on my brand spanking new PSP. Honestly though this is a huge update over the old one. Yea the buttons are really something nice!
psp-hacks.com has it all.
And thanksit's a walking animation from a game I'm working on. My first gif too, come to think of it!
My sister has fallen in love with LocoRoco and I suspect my brother will do the same for GTA. I might not be the only one with a PSP.
Yea, nobody around here has one any more which is more than a shame. No Ad-hoc for me.
You'll change your mind with the next big DS release. Anyway...Oh heavens no! Went for the black one as I mostly play at night, mostly.
I've been living a lie with the DS! Some games were good, notably New Mario and DoS (did not like PoR one bit). But I'm so friggin addicted to GTA:LCS and LocoRoco that it isn't funny. I've got a slew of games hitting my face this Xmas so it's only going to get worse. I found Pokemon Pearl to eventually turn into a terribly mediocre game in the end, I just totally gave up and used repel potions at that snow area. No fan of the new Zelda either. Contra 4 hasn't grabbed me like "Super Probotector" has on the VC. All this big titles haven't stuck!
The DS's reign is over for me till the next uber-stellar game.
... Oh come on! As if I'm known for my consistent attitude to systems and games![]()

-BATTERY LIFE
-disc based

-have to be careful with screen (nintendo realised that the exposed screen thing dosnt really work)
-new to it all (read; dosnt have a clue)
-will NOT be able to play FPS. other than Doom or with a goldeneye style *hold shoulder button to look* movement. bad idea.
and the unwritten rules for handhelds?
+Must have long battery life
+Must be able to take a lot of damage
+Must not have superfast 3D graphics (isnt that for consoles?)
+Must not use discs (loading, vibration, kills battery, savefiles dont like discs, easier to damage than cart)
+Games must be able to pick up and play with no fuss (portability)
The PSP is alright, but they're trying to be a console. and im only after the Zelda's, metroid's and mario's. and they really remind me of Windows, a patchwork system. trying to do everything but badly
not even the DS is brilliant in my eyes. the handheld genre was always one of fantastic gameplay as they couldnt produce beautiful graphics the game makers efforts were focused elsewhere, be it gameplay or music or whatever. Advance Wars, Tetris, Mario Land, Mario Advance, Metroid Zero Mission etc. and now that handhelds are all going 3D we're going to lose the only solid place for 2D gamers, like it used to be consoles for 3D and handheld for 2D. bugger.
PSP sales fans really should note: that the DS sold 60,000 (or was it 6000) more units than the PSP in the PSP's own launch week in Japan. erm *KAPOW!*
when will people realize that the PSP is just a portable PS2 (portable at 2 hours battery life? hmmm) that brings nothing new to the table at all. heh and i thought mac owners loved innovation and need i go on about how the Gameboy has already beaten down 13 competitors in the past, 75% of which were more powerful that the GB. that the DS is backwards compatible. that it has double the battery life and is half the price (round about).
nintendo knows handhelds which is why they dropped uber real graphics for simple graphics which saves a hell of a load of battery power.
"buy another battery!" they say
Lik Sang stock official DS batteries for £6.99, PSP batteries are £35.99 or at least they were when i imported my DS a month ago.
Joe Public likes things cheap.
Firstly, absolutely no game can beat Zelda, Metroid and Mario gameplay wise, which is the only thing that counts to gamers, not PSP multimedia people. Need i bring up links to Metacritic with their world-wide scores?
You wouldn't see me dead with a PSP just now, to me its like the Xbox. at first there was absolutely nothing bringing me to it. its just overpriced faulty hardware. But then a few years later I bought one, chipped it, and now using it as a Media Centre. So many i'll get a PSP when the price drops to something barely reasonable for a handheld gaming machine.
If i were you i'd just go out and buy a 2nd hand PS2. After all the PSP is just a watered down version of that but with early Dreamcast quality graphics with the high possibilities of a faulty screen, analogue button/stick thing, low battery life, overpriced console/memory sticks/games, terrible sales figures etc...
Not happy with the Slims battery life, it's verging on intolerable.
It might be okay for you, I've got my UMD clock speed set to 300mhz to combat the framerate problems in Liberty City Stories which cuts the battery to 3 hours. It's not great especially coming from DS Lite and GB Micro land.
Hours later
Just watched the whole of I, Robot and it only took off 30% of the battery. I find that a little astonishing as it's almost a 2 hour film! Maybe the system loads more of the film into the RAM to cut down laser time?
also not to dis the DS but the PSP is better because the 2d Games arnt that good sorry, the PSP rules
