You know, the really sad part is that while you're ranting about rehashing, while Metroid Prime 3 is a bit of a rehash, Mario Galaxy and Phantom Hourglass are probably among the most original and unique titles in their respective franchises and deviate quite a lot from their predecessors. You couldn't have picked two worse titles to "prove" your point.

Phantom Hourglass was very special to me because it actually felt like no other Zelda game I'd ever played; it actually brought some very unique puzzles to the table that I'd never seen anything similar to before.

And Mario Galaxy, well, it's the first Mario platformer in five years and the third in a decade. That's certainly not rehashing; then factor in the gravity stuff.

I certainly grant you Metroid Prime 3 as same-old-stuff with a better control scheme.

Fair enough. I'll get SMG and PH one of these days. Just on the back burner, ya know? ;)
The more I see of SMG the more I'm at least moderately interested. If I buy any Wii game anytime soon, it will be that one I can assure you that. My biggest problem with that though is once you're done, you're done...no multiplayer, no internet features etc. like what will come with the majority of the 360 games on my 'to buy' list.

Says the person who's apparently sick and tired of rehashed franchise games. ;)

Lethal

Yeah, but I didn't say that.
I said I was done with Nintendo's games and I could care less what is a rehash and what isn't.

Way to misquote. Yay!

Well we all have different taste because I have a whole heap of good PSP titles and my DS gets no love....its a matter of taste and for me the DS is not offering anything.

The puzzle games and action games are big on the PSP and thats what I'm into on handhelds so I'm good on that front.

Bless

Seconded + agreed 100%.

Wow. lol. Talk about pot calling the kettle black, eh? ;) The only original game in that list was LocoRoco.

See my reply to Lethal.

Well I did say it was all about taste and I'm into the PSP puzzle & actions games....I don't think I mention more than...Just the puzzle games I'm interested in.

The PSP has some rather unique and smart puzzle games as well(This is the main reason why I play handhelds).....lumines 1 & 2, PQ 1 & 2, Crush, Every Extend Extra etc...

DS aint far behind with those ports either man;)

Doesn't matter what you say or how much sense it makes. If you're pro-Sony, I'm sure someone will find a way to twist your words around 2ny. Luckily for the both of us, there are more open-minded gamers in the world today and the MacRumors forums aren't a microcosm of the way the rest of the world thinks. I'm just going to start ignoring all the negativity on here and resist feeding the trolling. ;)

Alreet so the PSP fat guy got the machine and sent me my money back. What a bloody star; he even refunded the postage both ways. I really salute this guy as I've sent eBay items back in the past and they just pay the item cost.

Still trying to impress Caroline with it. She's a big RPG buff but doesn't seem too interested in the PSP.

That's because there's no shopping channel, and she cant use the PSP to iron with. :D

(That's it start the new year with a bit of old fashioned male chauvinism) :D

Actually! My most visited bookmark is Play.com and Dvd.co.uk
2008 is the year I really stop just buying any old game and only get the best

Yeah I'm gonna do that this year.

I'm going to stop pre-ordering and buying games as soon as they are released and being a little more selective.

I spent too much money on games that I barely even touched last year. I even still have a few in shrink wrapping

Anyone know how to put themes on your psp?

I downloaded an iPhone one its in .ptf format, but can't workout where to put it on my memory card so that I can use it.

^I think you will have to make a folder called "Themes" and put it there....it should work from there.

I'm thinking 2008 will be the year I start buying more handheld games and less console games....I've been ignoring handhelds but now I have less time for consoles.

Bless

Before you did anything with your memory card you should have formatted it from the PSP. It sorts out all the folders and that. PSP>Themes is the folder.
I rather like the Cookies theme  haven't found very well made ones yet. Theres an atrocious Wii one floating around.

It's all over. The 4gb card arrived (With a free chocolate! thanks mymemory.co.uk!), fake 4gb card sent back and refunded, broke PSP refunded. Now I can finally PLAY the damn thing!

The Wii theme is bad. I settled on the iPhone one which looks very good. :)

you can go to pspdemocenter.com, you can even access it from the psp, they have all the offical release demos, themes, and stuff, even customs. have fun

I found (and lost) that site a while ago! It turned out to be a very good little site.

The PSP needs background downloading, limited to 3 downloads or something. Everything needs background downloading on a 512kbps connection :D

ya, it sure doesn't have to fast of internet, the wi-fi is only 11 mbits, but that is still faster than most internet connections, mine is only 300 - 500 kbits. not much but. i like that site becuase you can download alot of things straight to the psp, pretty neat. i also want to get a ipod touch and unlock or hack it what ever you want to say, but i heard you can run rock band or guitar hero on it.

P.S. Please excuse my spelling and grammer skillz, i suck at it... :D

raggedjimmi: Glad your eBay bumps have been fixed. I just got a PSP lite (the Piano Black) for xmas, which is my first handheld (in fact, it's my first system since SNES back in the day).

I'm not particular to any system really. So far, I've bought or rented the console according to the games I wanted to play (GTA, Tomb Raider, Mario, 007 series). I haven't even looked for other PSP titles yet, but will start soon, I imagine.

Count me as a video user as well: I've watched a lot of movies/TV shows on my 5G iPod while commuting, and am enjoying the larger screen of the PSP.

Really dissapointed with TV output for games. Why the hell is it so bloody small ? Give me the option to fill the screen or what's the point

That's a shame :( looks like we'll be waiting on a firmware update to get full TV display options. Was close to getting a VGA cable for it too.

Thought I'd run the battery into the ground to see what happens. Very reassuring to see that it just goes into sleep mode with it's last breath. No more sticking it back on charge when it gets to 50% battery :)

Same here. I bought the component connector to output game video on a Dell 2407WFPHC, and only used it once. Seems pointless to require a progressive scan monitor and not be able to support higher resolutions. Not that it would have the power to handle HD--even the low rez lags during gameplay.

No big deal, as I wanted it for handheld play.

EDIT: Isn't the ability to "fill the screen" a function of the TV or monitor you're connected to? As a simple monitor, the Dell expands to it's over-sampled full glory.
