Ordered 4:45am EST, what a bloody mess it was. Got through using Apple Store App but wasted 1.5 hours on the site. Now I know for next time.

It seems to me that the main issue in here is the fairness of the ordering process more than the waiting time itself? In other words if you were trying to order the moment sales were to begin you should be at the head of the line. Many of us were cheated out of this by the various technical problems with the apps and websites so that even though we tried in good faith to place our orders we were unable to do so. Also there was a randomness to the way some people were able to get in an others not with no apparent pattern. At the time I was trying last night I was reading posts from people who claimed that had gotten their orders in. Personally, the beef I had is that I stayed up very late for the express purpose of placing an order and was denied the chance to do so at that time, thereby having lost hours of sleep for nothing. If I had known that I had no chance of making the 9/19 ship date I would have gone to bed at the normal hour and placed my order in the morning as I ended up doing. That's just wrong. And I'm sure millions of others experienced the same thing. Apple owes us all for that wasted time.
As far as having to wait an extra 3 weeks, that's the least of it. If only there was fairness in the way it worked out.
See this is why i won't order online. There is so much uncertainty as to when the phones will be delivered. Some people end up waiting for weeks and delivery times can and do slip. Crazy i know but i always queue up over night at my nearest apple store. 12 hours out of my life but its worth it to know i will get my phone on the first day of release.

Imagine how people that don't have any Apple devices felt. They couldn't access the website or the app store app and when the website finally came up everything was gone. ;(
....all these conflicting news reports are confusing . Has anyone spoke to someone in the know?
I am trying to figure out will anyone who ordered the plus get it on the 19th or is everyone's order being pushed back no matter when you ordered?
I ordered thru Verizon website at 2:57am, confirmation read 9/19, order status reads date not available at this time.
I ordered at 2:57am too! Status for first hour said 9/19 now says unavailable, I called verizon they said don't worry, it says ship date is still 9/19.
Not if they run out of the exact model you want before you get to the door.
There really is no uncertainty ordering online. People are just anxious and jumping the gun. If your confirmation says the 19th, it will be there on the 19th. I have never had an issue.

Shame on them for not buying into Apple sooner then. We are part of a club. Those who couldn't get in were posers.
Actually, that's just it.There was a great deal of uncertainly with the online ordering process. At 3am I had every right to expect that I would be able to go online and place my order with the expectation that at that time whatever item I wanted would be available and ship on the 19th. Instead what happened was an hour and a half of trying the iphone app and my computer to access the Apple store without being able to place an order even though by any reasonable standard I should have been able to. There was no certainty at all in that process. In the end I got stuck at the back of the line when I had every right to expect to be closer to the head. To be fair Apple really should make everyone wait 3 weeks and send no phones out before then.
I got right through on the Verizon site on my MBP at 2:58am.....they didn't have the plan I wanted listed.....I called Verizon.....got a rep.....went through the whole credit check deal and placed my order. Still got my phone in time even with the slower phone process.
I guess some people just have bad luck.
That previous poster spoke of certainty in the online ordering process. The fact that luck was involved eliminated any semblance of certainly in the process thereby invalidating his point. In addition it's not 'some people just have bad luck'. The vast majority of people had bad luck. You are in a small minority.
I know you're being sarcastic, in a condescending way, but in the event that you are serious, no, life is not going to end for me, but I am disappointed that I stayed up until midnight having been up since 5am, working until 6pm. I was dead tired but I wanted/need a new phone and I've wanted a bigger iPhone for a long time. Having started the process of preordering at 12:01am and finishing before 12:10am, I am disappointed that as of now, I will be receiving the phone in 2 months. What was the point of staying up and preordering when people that will walk into the store on the 19th will probably get the chance to walk out of the store with new phone in hand.
"I'm not mad, I'm disappointed, AT&T."
I think we've known from the beginning that if they were going to have a 5.5 model it wouldn't have as much stock as the 4.7. They ARE delivering some of the 5.5 but there are just less of them so the shipping times slipped a lot faster.
Makes sense. I wonder how different it would be as far as 6 vs 6+ popularity if both models were sporting identicle specs. I probably would have gone with the 4.7" iPhone 6 if it had all the things the 6+ has.
I got the same exact email with same dates that you got. Then tonight I got the very same text message. And, yes, they did charge me for it within about 30 minutes of placing my order.
I tried many times to order from Apple but could not get to them. So I finally placed my order with ATT at 7:30AM est.
It's strange that you got the same dates in the email confirmation that I got and you ordered 4 hours before I did.
I am really very disappointed. My i5 has gotten to the point where the battery only lasts a few hours. And I have the yellow streak down the display just like 3 of my previous iPhones developed due to heat in the phone.
I NEED a new phone more than I want one. I thought my November delivery dates were due to my 7:30 purchase time.....now I know that is not the case.
And, just what was the purpose of that text message if I won't see the phone for two months?

They didn't really charge my card, they put a temporary charge on there. I'm guessing they do this to make sure the funds are there. It'll probably drop off eventually and then post when it's ready to ship.
Well, this just happened.
I was getting pissed because she literally took 5-7 minutes before each and every one of her responses. I didn't say anything because I didn't want her to just give me crappy answers. She still gave me crappy answers, but at least I wasn't rude lol. You'll notice when I say "Hello?" that was because she hadn't said anything in roughly 4 minutes after asking my first question.

Welcome! You are now chatting with 'Sheila Jenkins'
Dwigt: Hello Sheila, so I actually have a question about my iPhone pre-order. I preordered as soon as it became available 12:01am and I finished the ordering process in less than 5 minutes. I just checked my order status and it says I won't be receiving it until some time in November. How is this possible? I know of people that ordered hours after I ordered and are getting a scheduled delivery of 09/19. It seems unfair to me. Will my ship date change by any chance?
Sheila Jenkins: Hello Dwigt. How may I help you today please?
Dwigt: Hello?
Sheila Jenkins: Did you order an iPhone 6 plus?
Dwigt: Yes
Sheila Jenkins: Alright. We just have an update for the shipment of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus. For iPhone 6 plus orders will take within 35-42 days.
Sheila Jenkins: That is due to high volume of orders we received.
Dwigt: I understand that, but how do I fall in that late shipment category when I was one of the first to order. And again like I said, I know people that didn't order until 3, 4, 5 hours after I did and are getting it shipped on the 19th?
Dwigt: I mean if what you're saying is true, then I guess Im better off canceling my preorder and waiting outside of an at&t store on the 19th..
Sheila Jenkins: Dwigt, I understand how you feel with regards to the shipment of the iPhone 6 plus and we can check if we can already cancel the order.
Dwigt: And another thing, in the email I received it says I won't be charged until my order is getting ready to be shipped, and I just checked my credit card and I have been charged full amount. Is it possible that I will be getting my phone on time since that happened?
Dwigt: No I don't want to cancel it
Dwigt: I said I would be better off, but Im not going to cancel it.
Sheila Jenkins: We will not get the payment until the order has been shipped.
Dwigt: Ok, what Im saying is that I was already charged, full amount, and I received a text today that said my order has been processed. Im hoping that meant I will receive it on time
Sheila Jenkins: Are you sure those people you know ordered same iPhone 6 plus and will have their orders ship as early as on September 19?
Dwigt: If you're familiar with Macrumors.com, theres dozens of threads of people posting pictures confirming they're getting their phones at the right time
Sheila Jenkins: No worries with the order Dwigt. Please understand that due to high demand or lots of orders we received from yesterday, we have provided with that time frame and rest assure it will be delivered on or before that day.
Dwigt: Hope so, anyway, thanks for your help. Have a nice night.
blah blah technical problems on an online website at launch timing blah blah.
You do realize that the CS reps for the carriers are likely the last place you should be seeking additional information on your order, right? It is obvious she is providing you canned responses yet you push on. Maybe it provides you a false sense of security that your phone will come earlier because Sheila Jenkins said so via chat but my goodness, why not wait and let this shake out and see how it goes? The fact that other people may have ordered after you and their status states they will receive their phone before you does not mean that this lowly CS rep is going to be able to part the red sea and move mountains to push your order up for you.
I really feel sorry for these CS reps. They undoubtedly are not provided the information to answer questions from customers yet they still have to sit there and field them and deal with this bizarre culture of people who feel as though their life is over if they have to wait an extra few weeks/months for a phone. Amazing what we, as a society, are becoming.
