4.3" would be my choice. I had a 4.3" Android(the Sprint EVO) and absolutely loved the screen size. Nice big screen with lots of room but not to big in the pocket or in usability. I know I'm in the minority and most iPhone users seem to want the smaller screen. That said, the general public at large is speaking pretty loudly with how well the S3 among others are selling with large screens.

4.7 with very small bezel

4.3 with current bezel

The S3 is pocketable and very comfortable in the hand.

All those people who whine that they want a phone that actually fits in their pocket need to go find someone who has a phone in the 4.3-4.8" screen range and actually try putting it in their pocket. Then come back here and tell us all about how to their surprise it actually did fit in their pocket and much better than they originally thought.

The problem is that we are at a point where because of the surge of smartphones with larger screens, there are some of us who prefer to move to a larger screen and some of us who are content with the current 3.5-4" range. One logical, way to solve this problem is for Apple to offer phones with different screen sizes. Unfortunately, I think we all will agree that Apple will never do this.

In the meantime, myself and many others are finding ourselves paying closer attention what else is out there. I love my iDevices, but eventually my desire for a device with a larger display may outweigh my personal benefits to stay within the ecosystem.

Luckily I have the iPhone 4S and still have another year to see what Apple and others do during that time.

Some of have done this. Some of us have owned cell phones since early to mid 90s and have tried all sorts of form factors. My son has an android 4 inch and I find it too big and not comfortable in my pocket and I am 6'3 so not a small dude. The nice thing about an iPhone is it is small enough to disappear in a pocket. I often have to check to see if it is even in my pocket.
