The black alpine loop. Had a really weird feeling I'd selected Large, which would be too big, but thankfully medium arrived.

All my other straps are for the Natural Titanium watch, so I'll probably buy a few new ones. Might grab a new black Ocean Band for swimming (I've got a white one).
Ooooo black alpine loop?! That was a dream many Apple Watch Ultra 2 users with the black watches really wished for! I’m glad Apple officially released it and now all ultra straps have at least a black version with black tatty lugs. Would you also get black trail loop too?

I've got a black trail loop but it's for the natural titanium case, so I'll probably order a new one for my black U3. I've ordered a black ocean band.

All set up. As usual, things are not quite right with the on-screen widgets, I'll get that addressed nice, bright detailed screen on the Ultra 3.
My ultra 3 has been the most frustrating experience I ever had with an Apple product. 9 fails trying to set up. Once set up hardly any widgets are working. And the watch and phone constantly complain about not being connected to each other.

Absolutely infuriating. Does not matter if restoring from a backup or setting up as new. Other people online seem to be having similar problems.

That's annoying, mine worked perfectly. But Apple Watch tends to me the most frustrating apple product to setup for some reason.

After 6 hours of trying it looks like it has settled down and started to work. At least I didn’t give up. :)
I’m glad yo got it working.

Mine worked seamlessly but my first Ultra did not. I didn’t read the instructions clearly enough I believe and tried setting up the Ultra while not wearing it and wearing my previous watch. That seemed to mess things up really badly and I had to spend at least a couple of hours to get it working.

Now I’m careful to ensure that I put the watch on while I’m setting it up and it’s been flawless. Even the eSIM transfer worked, which I was dreading and expecting to have to call my provider on Monday to get it working. Transferred flawlessly.

Instructions? Who needs them? 😂 I did the same with my S11 last night, still had my S3 on my wrist and the S11 on the charger. My iPhone seemed to get confused at the end and not connect to them properly. Disabled connectivity on one, finished what I needed on the other then switched back and it seemed much better. Perhaps I'll RTFM next time 😉

How are the turn dials on the ultra 3s? My turns easily but is really hard to press down on. Ive had all 4 versions of the ultra including this one and this is the by far the hardest one to press. Not complaining but wondering if its the same for u guys?

My Ultra 3 is easy to turn but definitely the stiffest buttons of my last two Ultras. I kinda like it - feels solid. Agreed.

Problem solved; I had just replaced the Spigen case cover on the AWU-1. It is the Spigen LockFit Case for the AW Ultra. I slipped it off the Ultra 1 and snapped it on, and it fit perfectly on the Ultra 3. I like this cover because you do not have to remove the watch band to take it off to clean the AW.

I think I’m an outlier here: I’m trading in my 45mm s19 for the 42mm s11. I like the bigger screen, but I miss the form factor of my old, smaller s7. I wear it ever single day, so I’ll take the lighter weight.

NOTE: (This post is to help anyone who has this problem - My watch is now working fine):

I see some other people on reddit having the same problem.

This happened to me 9 times yesterday (despite restarting both watch/phone):

(Would attempt to pair, and sometimes wait 40 mins before failing and then unpairing).

My watch was like this for 5 hours+ yesterday. It would attempt to pair then fail, over and over (despite many restarts for both iPhone/Watch).

(Comment from directly above thread).

Yeah I've had Apple Watch since AW3 and never experienced this (and have gotten release day Apple Watches before).

I also had issues where when it did pair, no complications were available (so most watch faces were blank) and it was saying Hypertension is not available in my region. And re-my pictures above in the thread I quoted - it refused to transfer any data.

Then ..... it started working - without me doing anything - started communicating, transferring, complications appeared, and music transferred. lol.

Very happy with the AWU3 - battery life is significantly better (my AWU2 had 99% health) based on first night. We'll see how it does today - but the battery burn graph is far more horizontal than my AWU2. It's slightly faster on operations and the screen is visibly easier to read at all angles.

After deciding to switch from the Ultra to the Series 11 and a Coros for running I’ve done a U-turn and sent back the Coros and pick up the U3 tomorrow. Gone for the natural but seeing a lot of photos of the black has me questioning my decision making again

Had that issue before when I got my series 6 new back in May 2024.

Slightly different case as it transferred all the data from the old series 1 that was still paired with my iPhone, to the new series 6.

It mysteriously took long like that and it unpaired in the morning and decided to get itself sorted ✔️.

If it makes you feel any better I picked up a black AWU 3 after having had naturals since the AWU 1 and am having buyer’s remorse. I’ve always had black/grey AW’s and the back AWU 3 is a bit “meh”

My favorite finish by far is the S10 titanium in slate.

picked up my ultra 3 today. still getting used to it. turning some apps off that i dont need like spotify when playing on iphone dont need it to play on watch. does anyone wear it to sleep to track how well youre sleeping? the ocean band leaves a mark on my hands after wearing it. im thinking of getting a case/screen protector don't want any scratches or nicks on it.

I have the Terra Cotta Alpine Loop band and, while the hook mechanism makes putting on, taking off, the watch a bit more time consuming, it’s quite comfortable once on.

The case situation is very divisive, especially glancing at Reddit: “Ultra series is meant to be careless, stand up to abuse, etc”, but it’s your watch, you do what you wish.

I’ve had an ultra 1,2 and now 3. No scratches on the screen and none on the case ever. They really are durable. I really never found the need for a case.

Edit: as above your watch and your choice, but I have never found the need.

Hey guys, what screen protector would you recommend for AWU? Any recommendation would be highly appreciated.
