Time for OS11? I think is possible. Apple is certainly not abandoning the desktop platform, so it only makes sense to go back to the drawing board for a all new OS.

Next one won't be a cat. I guess it'll be some kind of OmniOS that runs on both Macs and iOS devices..

Lynx

Or just start fresh with OS 11

Also, I don't think they will merge the desktop OS with the post PC OS. With lion they just wanted to bring over some of those innovations over to the mac. Which is why Lion is basically just a better snow Leopard with iOS features thrown in. Think about it. They are already trying to distance the two GUIs by making iOS dark and Mac OS white. Most of the dark elements in snow leopard (Quick look for example) have been made white or lighter. Even the blue loading bars went from an aqua blue to a lighter ice blue color.

HOOOOOO!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/9A5259f Safari/6533.18.5)

I think it will be a new operating system. With 10.7, we are seeing iOS features in it. They will probably completely combine the two and have one name. Of course, the iPad/iPhone version will be a light version of the main operating system. We all know how Apple loves unification.

another idea...

lion will serve us for a while then goes to heaven and become a group of stars called "LEO"... so, this is the beginning of the next generation OS called OS-Z which comes from "Zodiac":)

Good??

Duff-Man says....if I had $1 for every "what's the next cat" thread I think I'd get my copy of Lion free....perhaps everyone in the family.....oh yeah!

OS X Gryphon

and instead of the normal jungle cat desktop images, it's several pictures of Peter Griffin.

For the unveiling, Steve Jobs will have the engineers breed an actual gryphon.
