Tired of waiting for PB, so I'm going in.

What‘s the verdict? Did your watch survive?

I keep getting a login prompt for iCloud, but when I try to input the type selection comes up but then goes black.

My activity in regards to active competitions is also broken.

But the bullet and so far so good.

AWSSG5

Battery seems same as os6.x (so far 4 hours standby and showing 92%)

Feels stupidly fast and polished. Not like a beta at all. Hand washing works well and looking forward to sleep tracking tonight to see how it works.

So far so good :)

I had my first ever issue with WatchOS7 today. I set up automations to change my watch face at certain times of the day. When it hit the first one, the watch locked up. Had to hard reset it. Then it did it again. So I deleted the automations and hard reset, now it’s fine again.

Fed back, but blimey! Almost thought it was bricked for a mo.

Running watch OS7 beta 3 on a Series 3 Apple Watch (GPS). Took about 4 hours for it to download and install. I am noticing that I DO NOT have the hand washing feature that I was hopping for. I've gone to settings and it is not listed as an option to turn on. :-(

Ah, so maybe not supported on series 3.

I have a spare watch (Series 3) and was considering installing OS7 to see what it does. I’ve not done this before (Beta Testing)so how do I get started and is it worth it to install on Watch series 3?. My current watch is Series5 TI and I don’t want to mess with that one.

If you want to, sign up to the public beta on Apple's site, where there's guidance on how to install it. You cannot go back to WatchOS 6 though.

OK, thank you. I don’t mind about not being able to go back to OS6 on the series 3 as it is just a spare watch. I’;; give it a try
With the series 3, you may have to wipe the watch in order to install the beta. It is a known problem that Apple mentioned in release notes. I had to do that with my series 3 with the 4 beta.

You had to set your watch up from new? Dayyum glad I didn’t have to do that on my 5

OK, I‘ve downloaded the profile to my phone, watch app, installed it. I then checked for OS updates and I get the attached message on my phone screen. When I check my phone it shows me on latest update 13.6.1. What am I missing here?

My apologies. I did not read the beta program page completely. I see that I have to update my Phone to iOS 14. I’ll need to think about that for a bit Before I jump in. My phone is my main device.

Yea, it was a pain in the butt. Gladly, like you, I didn’t have to do all that with my series 5. I have been impressed with the battery life and performance of the beta on my series 5. I haven’t experienced any rebooting or other noticeable problems.

The phone beta has been very stable. You should check out the iOS 14 thread on apps, to make sure the apps you use are working well.

Make an encrypted backup on your phone. That way, you can jump back to 13.6 if you decide the beta isn’t for you. You can also use the DFU method to restore the phone from beta to ioS 13.

We are probably 3 - 4 weeks away from the official release.

BasicGreatGuy thank you. Is the encrypted backup done to iCloud or where? Note that I do not have a desktop/laptop at all. I only have iPad Pro 12.9 3rd Gen, IPhone 11Max Pro and of course my two watches. My needs have changed over the last few years so any desktop/laptop is not necessary for me. I can do all I need on my phone and iPad. Is the iOS14 available on the same Beta webpage?

***** By the way, you cannot restore your watch back to WatchOS 6 when running beta, should something happen with it. You would need to send to Apple so they can restore it free of charge.

Since you don’t have a desktop, you can’t do an encrypted backup. All you can do is use iCloud. If you do decide to install the beta, I advise you turn off iCloud backup, until iOS 14 is officially released. Otherwise, any backup done with iOS 14 beta will automatically replace your current iOS 13 iCloud backup, which you don’t want to do. If that happens, you wouldn’t be able to restore from backup and would have to use the DFU mode method.

If you are signed in to your Apple Public beta account, you should see the watch download link on the same page, if I am not mistaken.

Apple seems to disagree, unless I've misunderstood what you're saying, and that iCloud backups are indeed encrypted via iOS and iPadOS.

What I was speaking of, although I see I failed to be specific, is an encrypted backup that can’t be overwritten, as is the case with Desktop. You can’t prevent iCloud from overwriting older backups.

Thanks for prompting me to be more specific.

I’ve just created a backup in iCloud and turned off Automatic Backup. Downloaded and installed profile for iOS14. Installing it now. Is it better to turn off “Automatic Updates“ in settings withBeta installed?
