You can do that using "smart playlists". I have a playlist that contains all my 4/5-star rated songs, a playlist that contains the 250 most recently added songs (you can adjust the number of songs here to accommodate your available memory), and a static "iphone" playlist. I have set iTunes to sync only these playlists. This way I always have the recently acquired stuff and my favorites on there, and also can add stuff manually by putting it into the "iphone" playlist.

Can this be done on the phone, with iTunes in the cloud? I never (rarely) sync with iTunes.

I am going 64gb. Now I am at 32 and I always have to delete stuff and I find if I go below 1 gb of free memory my phone is much slower.

Had a 16GB 4S but leaning towards a 32GB for the 5. Not sure though. If I get a 64GB then I can fit the majority of my music collection on it so it's a possibility.

Deffo 64gb. I'd buy 128 if it were available, local storage + hq music/video ftw. Cloud is the enemy of high quality media.

Upgrading from a 32gb 4. I'll see a great improvement in camera, bigger screen (would like bigger but heyho), Siri (fwiw...), better internals across the board, thinner, lighter and twice the memory :). THIS is why I wait two years between upgrades (I go unlocked), nothing to do with money, it's all about buying stuff and feeling a significant improvement for the money.

I always buy the highest available capacity. My 4 was 32, as was my 3GS, my 3 was 16, and my 4S is 64. I'm not sure what my original iPhone was, I believe 4

I doubt it, only because for some weird reason, genius isn't possible when using iTunes match. Which pisses me off to no end.

Definitely 64GB. In fact I'm thrilled that I'll finally be able to have my entire library on my phone without having to pick and choose what music gets synced.

Got 64gb 4s and considering dropping to a 32gb but am currently using over 32gb so will prob stick with a 64gb. I hate the hassle of having to what to sync and what to leave off. Love having my 000's of photos and all my music on my phone accessible at all times.

I'm really leaning towards it. Was really hoping they would surprise us and start at 32gb, but no luck. Don't like the idea of spending $400 on my next phone, but am down to 3.9GB free, so am really leaning this way.

Pretty much my thing. I'm down to less than a gig and there's a few apps I can't update now because there's not enough space to download the update on (at least I'm guessing that's what is happening. When I try to tell it to update any of my largish games it does nothing. I have to download it on my computer and then have that load it on my iphone to update anything large now).

And yeah, if they had changed the sizes to 32,64, 128 I'd be severely tempted to do 128 even though honestly at my budget I really should just go with the smallest I can get away with. Mainly cause I've only ever been offered "just enough" and by at least 1.5 years I start having to worry about space constraints. I'd really like enough space I don't have to worry I'll fill it.

I'll be going 64GB. Mostly for when a JB is released. I use my phone to download and store lots of information. ISO images, git code repos, my photo library, but no movies. Video/Music I stream.

Considering a 64GB.

I had a 32GB 4S. Recording video was the only thing that pinched storage a lot. 1080p kills.

I will probably go with 32GB this time since I don't record much video, or when I do like for good songs at a concert or something, I dump it to my computer and erase it.

I have an upgrade and I don't like thinking I'm spending double for 64GB over the cheapest upgrade for just memory. Plus I never, notwithstanding those concert moments, felt like I needed it. iTunes Match works great for that.

Definitely paying with AmEx so I have two years warranty (not including drops). But I've never, knock on wood, broken any iPhone and I've had every gen, cases do the trick for mild drops and without Otterbox bulkiness.

I haven't decided yet. I have a 64GB 4S cause I had the 32GB 4 and thought it wasn't enough. Over the past year though, my use has been around 40-45 GB. Never maxed it out or even came close. Now thinking that if I use streaming and online storage better and take off a bunch of the games that I don't have time to play anyways and take up a ton of space, I might be able to go back to the 32GB...

Only a little time left to decide.

I've always gone with the largest available, but I'm really thinking about scaling it back this time around. I do have a huge music collection with a wide taste in music, so it's been nice having a decent selection sitting on my phone. I've always put a few favorite movies out there as well, just in the event I'm traveling and find myself stuck somewhere and want to unwind with a movie. I also rarely move pictures & videos out of the camera roll, so it has stuff from long ago.

I may just get a 32GB and force myself to adopt a more cloud centric view. I have an iPad for Movies (better suited anyway) and I can enable Match on my phone to go that route for music. I've long since needed to get better about picture & video mgt, so this should force me to do that. If I find it painful to work in this mode, then I'll just step it back up next year. It's not like I've ever kept an iPhone past the release day of the next generation. :p

Wait... Itunes Match still has that 25,000 song limit right?

Not going to be able to do it. Need more. Sorry to say. Im getting the 64gb 5 because I had the 64gb 4s, and I know better than NOT have the highest gigabyte one because the "iPhone 5s" selling point will be the 128gb. They know how to get people to purchase, and that will be the key component.

64GB here without a doubt, serious music fan. The 16GB 3G was great, until I wound up having to decant music on and off or carry by 60GB 5g iPod around with me.

Upgraded to the 4 on launch day with a 32GB. Again great but soon wound up with no space and having to decant, especially with the Spotify app and subscription. Deleting downloaded playlists from Spotify doesn't return space to the pool so it's meant having to periodically delete the application and then resync offline playlists.

If Apple had have done a 96 or 128GB capacity phone this time around, I'd have gone for the instead, price be damned. With a decent pair of cans the iPhone 4 has been quite the portable music player, I hope the 5 doesn't drop the ball on that front (going cheap on DACs etc).

I would've gone 32 GB if Apple had gone $199-32/ $299-64. I just can't stomach the crazy margins on higher storage, it should really only be $50 more. You guys are Apple's favorite customers. :)

Now that I have my iPad (64GB), and a DSLR (64GB) that I enjoy carrying really wherever I go, I am probably going to go with 32GB this time. As far as storage goes my iPhone is really just for music and iWork documents syncing with iCloud and the very odd picture I may take with it. Everything else I enjoy using my other devices more.

The only thing that may stop me is apps, since they are growing a lot recently...

I was thinking about scaling back too because I have the 32gb iPad, and I've learned to put my GAMES on that, but all my APPS on my iPhone

But in saying that, I like the idea of having the 64gbs because I have plenty of pictures I keep just in case I'm out and folks are like "remember the times".. Bam, there it is.

And I dont know how to use the 135 gigabytes on Dropbox I was given to upload all the photos into folders and make it visible on my iphone in Gallery style.

But I love my music, espeically since a lot of it is NOT on Spotify...

I tend to not be a hoarder, so I'm definitely going with 16GB. I have a 32GB right now on my iphone4 and have half of the storage free, even more free on my 32GB ipad.

Your iphone will be twice the speed of the 4s... I beg of you to reconsider. the things you can put on your device, even at 32 is ENDLESS. Streaming movies, etc etc...

Buh $750 before tax is already a lot to stomach. 32gigs for me. If only Verizon would let me upgrade without removing my unlimited plan.

If you're streaming movies that doesn't take up any storage space.

My bad, watching movies*

But then again I have my ipad for that. I just personally think 16gb for ANYTHING these days is retarded. I can get a 16gb flash drive for $8. My iphone I paid almost $200 should have STANDARD 32 or 64.
