I am on a two week count down

I have been waiting for a new design since Macworld.

But I am getting over it, I am going to get a MBP in two weeks regardless.

I have previously bought Dells and HPs and have never been worried about an upgrade coming along. I think it is just because apple upgrade so infrequently by comparison - that it has become an issue for me.

Whatever you get will be updated within 9 months - I am hoping to use it for 2-3 years so I am going to get outdated no matter what. I should have bought in Feb when the last bump came along.

My current dilemma is should I get the 2.4 or the 2.5GHz - I only really need the 2.4 - but I need to get over the 3MB cache versus 4MB on the previous model hang-up.

I think they'll wait until after the school special ends. That would suck for a lot of people who just ran out and bought a MacBook so they can get a free iPod Touch, for Apple to turn around a month or two later and release a new MacBook. They PO a lot of customers. So, I don't see anything new coming out for at least another 3-4 months.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8310/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/107)

I'm playing this game and have been for a little while (since december!!!). The rumours of a thinner, aluminum macbook were around and with that came the Macbook Air. Yes indeed it was thinner, but not practical for me with that price tag. Now I'm still waiting... My HP is holding up and I got a new iMac to keep me busy :).

Oh and I am def gonna wait for the LED screens; I saw a mba and mb next to each other at the apple store today and the mb doesn't compare. I tried brightening it up and eas really disappointed that it was at its max.

So now I'm stuck between the 3 portables as well!
I really hope that they put the LED screens in the MB. If not I will be really disappointed. I can wait though because I still have to raise a little over $900 and I am too young to get a job, it will take me at least all summer to get $900 from babysitting and yard work.

What does everyone think on whether Apple will use the LEDs in the new Macbooks?

I'm waiting, but mostly because I want to save up for the computer before I buy it. I think I'll go with a MBP. By the time I have money saved, surely they wil have had a refresh.

It's possible. The problem with the new MacBook revision is it could have so many upgrades (ala the iPhone) that it's hard to believe they're all going to come true.

If they do a case redesign, I think that LED screens will be a part of that, as they allow a thinner enclosure around the screen. It'd be almost silly to do a redesign only to have a considerable amount of extra space six months later.

That is called getting "Appled".

That is also why I am not buying one now. I want one now and I have the money ready to go but I will not miss out on the LED screen.

Frankly im getting tired of seeing a new thread on this everyday. Once and for all:

APPLE WILL RELEASE A NEW MACBOOK WHEN THEY CHOOSE TO, AND THEY WILL NOT LET YOU KNOW IN ADVANCE! ANY SPECULATION IS POINTLESS, AND IF YOU MUST SPECULATE - SEARCH FOR AN EXISTING POINTLESS "WAIT OR BYE NOW" THREAD!

(before my morning coffee, i will be much nicer in an hour. But still.).
If you're going to be whiny and post in a thread in which your (rather grumpy) presence was never requested, at least spell "buy" correctly.

also waiting. Glad I'm not alone.

waiting is really starting to piss me off (but that's because i'm impatient)
I don't need a new computer right now and I've decided that neither the macbook pro nor the macbook fulfill my needs exactly so i'll wait for the redesign. :apple: take all the time you need (if you must) but please don't disappoint me!!!

I'm waiting for a macbook update, but really just so I can get an even cheaper Blackbook refurb after the Montevina bump in July. I really doubt I'll get a Rev. A Macbook 2.0 unless it's just something so enticing that I'd just have to take the risk of the bugs and buy it (i.e. I'd jump for something better than integrated graphics [but I know it'll be GMA X4500], but I don't care if it's aluminum or not)

I'm playing too.

Which ever portable they update first (Macbook or Air) is the one I'm buying.

I basically have to raise $900, and since I am too young for a real job, it'll take a while. So hopefully by then Apple will have updated. If not, I can deal with playing the waiting game for a while.

for somebody who joined a month ago you're quickly annoyed. wait till you've been around 3 years or more and you've seen 12583 "wait or buy now" threads. Then you're going to explode.:D

and yes, i counted them all:cool: there are really 12583 "wait or buy now" threads.

anyway, i'm waiting for a new macbook with:
montevina,
4500 GPU,
7200 rpm
250GB HD,
4GB,
maybe alu,
LED backlit,
1-2 pounds less weight,
slightly smaller footprint,
2.5GHz Penryn,
long battery life,
edu discount,
ipod nano,
$1199
well, $1399 seems more realistic;)

Is no way it would have a faster processor than the low end MBP. Where would this 1-2 pounds less weight come from? If Apple could do it, work be the new Macbook Air (trust me); and that price...

Have fun waiting

just got a macbook... didn't feel like waiting for the new model... once the new model comes out, all apple is going to do is upgrade it a few months later anyways... i'd rather get the newest old model that i know has pleased many people.. i just wouldn't want to deal with getting the new model and watching it go through tons of upgrades right after i bought it... that would just piss me off completely...

i'll just pick up one of the new models once i hear what everyone has to think about it and apple works out all the kinks... for now i'll just tinker around with my soon to be old school macbook...

wow. never thought of it that way. that's a very good point.
i'm playing this outrageously stupid and gray-hairring waiting game. it's mandatory fun for me as i'm waiting until mid-july because of circumstances. but i'll definitely be getting a MB before i head off to school in mid-august. but yeah, playing this stupid game as well.

Scratch out 1-2 pounds less weight (<1lb), 4GB of RAM (2GB), and the 7200RPM HDD (5400RPM), and it's believable, but astonishing.
