Tap to click!

as someone else mentioned, enable tap to click. I wasn't experiencing this problem, but I did that on my new MBP and I love it. I find that it's much easier and faster than actually clicking the trackpad. plus you can do it near the top of the pad where it takes more pressure to perform an actual click.

Its the curse of the REV.A Apple product !

How many times must it happen before people realise that you must only ever buy a REV.B product, or even C to be sure when apple re-design something.

As others have stated, Apple doesnt have a good track record at fixing stuff like this previously, so I will definitely be holding out until Rev B/C for any new form factor machine.

Do you realize that if no one purchased rev a products there would be no rev b c d etc?

I watch myself expect perfection, but nothing is perfect. I have the issue with my MB, and it can be a distraction and I do hope it is fixed. Yet, if all I do is sit around and complain about it, which I have caught myself doing, life surely isn't as fun as getting on the MB and doing some project!

even as annoying as it might be the machine is simply awesome.

I've been having problems with my new MB's trackpad since the day I got it, but not the same issue as being widely described. While I'm typing, the cursor will disappear from the screen. The issue is that when I'm done typing and go to move the cursor, it doesn't re-appear and pick back up. I can swipe the trackpad numerous times, but the cursor won't come back until I physically click the trackpad.

Anyone else having this issue? of course I hope it will also be fixed in the same patch :).

Otherwise, I love my MB.

This is exactly the same problem that I have, and I don't find it extremely annoying but i hope that it does get fixed soon. This is my first mac and I'm totally in love with it.

I think my MB is having a similar issue, out of the blue, sometimes, the trackpad doesn't respond for about 3 seconds. Doesn't happen often and things get back to normal in a minimum amount of time. Not a biggie, totally expectable from a new trackpad, probably just some minor software update will fix it.

If I hadn't read this, I probably wouldn't even had clued in that it's an actual problem and not me accidentally resting a finger on the trackpad and sending the cursor out of the windows. Truly something they probably wouldn't have caught during testing of it... mind you they did "spend 2 months finding the correct coefficient of friction for the glass, so it would be just perfect".

Similar problem but only after a screen capture on my new macbookpro.

This is a fantastic machine, I didn't expect it to be so fast and well built. And the screen is perfect.

Just this curious issue that confused me the first time, but if you know when to expect it it's OK until the next software fix.

When I do a screen capture with "Command"+"Shift"+"4", the PNG is saved on my desktop, but after that the system is unresponsive for about 10 seconds. No expose', no clicks, and the cursor doesn't move smoothly. It looks like all my gestures are buffered and executed after a few seconds.

Nightmare

I'm gutted. I'm already on my second MacBook (new one) - the first had a faulty screen and now this one's trackpad is a total disaster. Not only does it sometimes just freeze but the clicking doesn't often work. Then worse still sometimes it acts as though i'm clicking AND dragging. In short my MacBook is unusable.

I don't believe a software fix can sort this - I think it's a fundamental design flaw. I love Apple, i've been using them since the LCIII but I wonder if they're trying too hard to simplify their products. The all in one button design at first was something of a wonder - now it's a nightmare, it just doesn't work. If you google MacBook trackpad problems you'll find hundreds of users complaining about the same thing.

I'm sad to say i'll be returning my MacBook and getting a refund. VERY frustrating.
