If your wrist is really 6.69" there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY you can fit in a S/M sport band with the pin in hole 4.
Well I normally wear the sport band with the pin in the 2nd tightest hole of the s/m piece (2nd hole closest to the watch case, that is). I have a tiny wrist. Watch is 44 mm series 4.

Well... that did not go well.

On the day of the keynote I printed the measuring form, verified the size with a credit card (perfect) and carefully cut out the measuring device. I literally taped the "watch face" to my arm, in the EXACT spot I wear my Apple Watch (I have a big tan line) and then wrapped the paper around my arm leaving NO GAP with my skin at all. The number in between the arrows was right in the middle of the 6 range. If I pulled the paper tighter so it would almost rip but created a big uncomfortable dent in my skin I could get it to read in the low 5s. But bottom line is with ZERO gap on my skin it was a 6... so I ordered a solo loop in 6.

It is HUGE. So loose its like a oversized bracelet so the watch will easily slide up and down several inches from the wrist/hand to further up my arm with every movement. There is visible air gap around the entire band and my skin. Clearly I likely need at least 2 sizes down, a 5 is still going to be loose is what I guess but my wife has a 5 coming in a few days (it is sadly obviously going to be too big for her also, we both have small wrists but hers are really tiny) so at least I can try that.

Frustrating experience, I'm returning it obviously and reluctant to order one again until I know for sure what the proper size hopefully by trying one on in a store... just not sure I want to make a trip to an Apple Store just for a silicone band for a watch.

For everyone's reference I have a left wrist of 164mm, 6.46 inches, and I normally wear an Apple Sports Band in 44mm, S/M size, 3 or 4th most tight hole depending how snug I want it... neither allow the watch to move from the wrist position I like.

Did you confirm a credit card fits in the box before you use the sizer? I have to believe this is the source of most errors.

Just wanted to share my experience, used the Apple printed cutout at home, measured just below my wrist bone where i like to wear the watch (where the wrist is likely the narrowest) and measured 7 exact.

Went in store and tried the solo loop and braided solo loop. The braided definitely felt looser but both were too loose at 7. Lots of wiggle. 6 felt good, 5 fit and was comfortable but was snug. Could visibly see my skin pressed in slightly although it didn’t feel uncomfortable with a few minutes of wear.

So for me 6 is it in both solo and braided solo loops.

For reference on the sport band i wear the s/m band on the third pinhole

Did you try the other way, entering your exact measurement into the app? Did it tell you also 7 like the printed guide? For what I’ve read it seems the cm/inch method is far more accurate

i used the apple store app on my iPhone this morning and it processed my return and label instantly. Maybe try the app if the website is giving you issues...

Interesting, the third pinhole from the end of the band or third pinhole from the watch?

I just went to Apple store and picked up my order, and they let me test the bands there. I was sized 8, and the 8 fit well and kept the watch in place. I tried the 7 and while that was more of a snug fit, it felt too constrained for me so I think the sizing guide is pretty good.

I would say if the guide lands between a size, go with the size lower, otherwise it should be fine.

Btw material is super soft and cool.... and very easy to take on/off...this is my first apple watch so cant compare to the other silicon band.

What’s your wrist size in inches/cm?

You got the band separately or with the watch, because I want to return the one that came with the watch. I don’t know if it is possible, because I want to keep the watch.

It’s the order. I can’t access anything in it (including the return label, which you have to print from the order) on two different machines or the Apple Store app. I’ve chatted with support for 4 hours with no result. They just keep telling me there is maintenance on the site this weekend and maybe that’s it. They initiated the return for me but print label from the support email takes you to the order which... I can’t access. It’s just that order too. Any other previous or new one is fine. It started when I clicked return on the band in the iOS app Friday. My guess is the status on their end still said shipped (not delivered) when I clicked return, and I’ve entered some unhandled exception state with that order.

I’m just hoping it’s a glitch that fixes itself soon. My Apple Store is closed due to COVID, and I can’t return it without a shipping label that I can’t print.

That is EXACTLY my situation : third hole on the sport band and size 6 solo loop fits perfectly.

Third pinhole from the end of the band. I can squeeze to the fourth pin also for a more snug fit on the sport band but find that uncomfortably tight. The 3rd pin gives me some breathing room.

No I did not try measuring it as i don’t have a soft measuring tape at home to wrap around. I used the apple provided printout tool and made sure it was the corrected size using the credit card guide. I’ve attached pics of what it looks like, and i wrapped it snugly (note in the photo it might look squeezed but that’s cause I’m pressing my wrist against the table in order to take a pic with my phone lol). Also the apple in store tool showed size 7 too. Even the sales associate said they recommend going a size down, and gave me size 7, 6, and 5 to try on.

7 was a loose fit, 6 was comfortable with some breathing room, 5 was snug but not uncomfortably so. I opted for 6, but placed an online order unfortunately since they didn’t have the band i wanted in stock in store.

I just received a new soft measuring cloth from Amazon. I compared the sizing to the old one I used yesterday, and it seems the old one was off by 3/16” (due to stretching over the years?). After triple sizing myself with the new cloth, I am 6 3/16”. Apple says I am in between size 5 and 6. For Athletic, Appel recommends 5 for a snug fit and 6 for a relaxed fit. I am sticking with the size 5 I ordered yesterday.

Just wanted to post about old versus new cloth measuring tape, in case someone else runs across that same size difference.

Since new watches should be arriving today, was wondering if we could get some feedback on Apple’s solo loop sizing accuracy

I printed the sizing chart (checked the scale with a credit card), and ordered a size 8. My watch doesn’t arrive until Monday.

Anyone mind posting how the solo loop fits compared to the sizing chart? I.e., sizing chart said I was a 7 and it fits tight, loose, perfect?
I measured 8.5 maybe a little closer to 9. I ordered an 8 and it is a perfect fit. Couldn’t be more pleased with it.

With the sport band I was on 3rd hole and would tighten it up to the 2nd hole for workouts to get good HR readings. This is M/L sport band. The paper printout was 1/2 the way between 8 and 9. I ordered 8 with the watch and a 9 as an extra.

The 8 is perfect. When running if it is a little cooler I just push the watch up on my wrist which is much easier than changing holes on the sport band. I already returned the 9.

It is the most comfortable band I have used and I don’t have to worry about scratching my laptop with the metal pin.

Identical experience. 6.5" on the dot, so firmly a 7. Thought I'd just try on the 6 to start to see if felt a bit too snug, but surprisingly felt great - *but* I could get it to shimmy around on my wrist when I tried to shake it (ie. a jogging movement). Tried on the 5, felt a tad more snug than I'd like, but ultimately decided to go with that as it really stayed put.

Have been wearing it for the past hour, feels pretty good... the band is quite pliable so I'm not feeling constricted or anything. That said, just took it off and there's a clear outline of the band on my wrist. I might change my mind after a few days and exchange for a 6.

Surprisingly, they had watches and a good assortment of bands in stock at my Apple store, including braided and normal solo in charcoal. Visually, the braided band looks really cool and the colors pop more, but I found rough to the touch so opted for uber-gumminess of the solo.

Residual band imprint is common. I get it all the time wearing a sport band. I rather it be snug that too loose and accidentally fall off or get snagged on something.

To be clear, it was far from falling off w/ the 6. The 6 is what I'd call a typical snug watch fit, I was just hoping given the stretchy nature of the material for it to feel more like an extension of my body, if that makes any sense.
