But when you order the band you are selecting either the 40mm or 44mm version so it should be taken into account as they are designed for each specific case.
Oh good point. It’s been a very long day!

I’m thinking now that I should have ordered a 6 rather than a 7. Interestingly, if I build my own package with the same watch and band, I can get it two weeks earlier than the preconfigured set so I’ll probably do that and cancel my original order. Or I could just choose a different band and not mess with all this suspense regarding fit.

Off topic but eBay already has aftermarket versions of the solo loop bands. Since I couldn’t find an OEM black size 7 in stock locally - I bought a two pack (Black and Grey) for $21 bucks. I will report back when I receive them.

The ones I found were Small / Medium / Large - I am a bit skeptical on the fit.

In any case, I've also ordered one and will compare to the Apple product when it arrives.

Edit: FYI, I'm also told that the Braided Solo Loops will be available soon (also S/M/L)... already in production. Till now, it's hard to find replica straps that measure up to Apple quality so I'm doubtful about these - but hope to be proven wrong!

I have 25 bands and I usually wear the same repurposed designer canvas ones into the office most days so the solo loops will get weekend wear only if I even like them at all

Why can't apple or anyone post the length of each solo band size. That way everyone can get an idea of the length and just measure their watch length and get an more accurate sizing.

Found a video where he measures a solo band size 7 at 5 and 3/4 inches.

7:15 min.

The braided band measured longer in the same size 7, which is why most people find it looser.

Using the printed size guide I measured exactly between a 7 and an 8. I then tried a tape measure and input my wrist circumference which indicated a 7, which is what I ordered.

It's probably a size larger than what would be my ideal fit. It's incredibly comfortable and definitely not too large for me to use day to day. However there is a little more movement than I'm used to coming from a sport loop.

The Solo Loop is a non-starter for me.

Having owned Apple Watch since the first model - and having always worn a Sport Band - I know that:

1. The band will lengthen over time. As others have noted, Apple does state this about the Solo Loop (in tiny print at the bottom of the product page on Apple Store "Strap may increase in length over time."). I don't see the point of buying a fixed length strap that's "designed to provide an ultra-comfortable fit" when you know from the outset that it won't stay the same length. I also suspect it might lengthen much more quickly than the Sport Band, because it's going to get stretched a LOT.

2. My wrist is not one size. Some days (eg when hot, either due to temperature or exercise), I will need the band one hole looser than on other days. If you're measuring yourself for a Solo Loop, keep this in mind. Maybe take a few measurements over time, under different conditions.

3. I don't want the same degree of snugness all the time. Sometimes, it feels irritatingly tight, so I just loosen it. And vice versa. Not an option with the Solo Loop, of course.

So I bought my Series 6 with a new Sport Band instead. I hope to goodness that Apple doesn't discontinue that style, as I feel that the Solo Loop is folly. Time, as always, will tell. And some may love it, which I also fully appreciate.

Measured between 9 and 10. Bought the watch with a 9 solo, ordered a 10 braided. The watch arrived and the 9 band is ... slightly tight. Not uncomfortable, but I am constantly aware of it. I have no idea what people are doing to get their sizing so far off. (Of course, printing at < 100% will cause a larger reading.)

I measured a size 10, which was a bit loose, the way I like to wear the bands. It's at least two sizes too tight. (Braided solo loop.)

In normal times, any band I have with holes (ie, not a Milanese or leather loop) fits correctly in either one of two holes depending on the day.

Yes, the braided loop stretches to get onto your wrist but after some hands-on time I really don't think that it's going to loosen up much, if any, over time.

For $99, that's a big risk to assume it'll loosen up much. But given past experience with Apple Watch bands, not all of them have long lives. They stopped selling the nylon mesh, because they got really grotty after a lot of wear. They stopped selling the yellow leather loop because it shows terrible wear around the fold. (I got one last year at launch, and even though I don't wear it often, it is quite worn.)

I had the same concerns so I also ordered a leather link band at the same time....however, you really have to try one on. It’s by far the most comfortable watch band I’ve ever worn (AW or otherwise). To your points.

1. IMO it would take several years of normal wear to lengthen any at all. It’s very elastic which means it has a stronger tendency than not to return to its original size. Proper care should prevent any noticeable lengthening.
2. This is the reason you should consider the solo loop. Like you, I adjusted my sport band throughout the day. I was constantly changing between the 2nd and 3rd holes depending on various factors. Because the band is stretchy..it auto adjusts for you without you even noticing. It’s that comfortable! I was concerned that it would be too tight or too loose...but some how it just magically works great all day.
3. Again, try one on if you get a chance sometime. Because of it’s stretchy nature, it’s not going be too tight unless you get a size way to small for your wrist.

When I watched the key note I was very skeptical. In my haste to order the new watch as fast as possible, I assumed the fastest way to get my order was to stick with the pre-assigned solo loop. I figured I’d just get a different band soon after. After watching several videos and seeing the positive comments in here regarding comfort I started feeling optimistic. After getting the solo loop yesterday and wearing it all day, I’m super happy with this band. I think Apple knocked it out of the park (sans the measuring tool aspect!).

FWIW, I used a tailor tape fully snug, got 6.5" on the nose (165mm), which is about middle of the range for a size 7, and ended up preferring a size 5.
Did you wear the solo loop size 5 for at least 24 hours? (including sleep) are there any marks leftover? How was your experience?

I've had sport bands from the very first Apple Watch. I don't wear them all the time, but none of them have stretched at all. Interestingly, they are not all the same length; on one, I have to use the last hole, and on another I use the second-to-last hole. And this was from the very beginning, from the first times I wore them.

I'm guessing stretching the solo loop will have more of an impact on its size over time compared to the braided one due to the materials used.

Serious question, does anyone else's wrist change size throughout the day?

I have a sport loop so I have the benefit of infinite adjustability, and I definitely notice having to adjust my strap to be tighter or looser by probably a cm or more each way depending on what I'm doing.

On a sport band, I change between two holes, depending on the day, the weather, and probably how much I've had to drink during the day.

Went into Apple store in Sheffield, UK to get sized today. They actually have someone checking measurements and then recording actual preferred fit for the Solo Loop and Braided Loop.

I measure as on the line for 6/7 and ordered a 7 with my watch which has not yet arrived. With a tape measure it’s 16.5cm circumference and says to get 7. 7 was way too loose for both bands. 6 was ok but loose, but I preferred the tighter feel of the 5 for both the bands

They have very different feel. The Solo Loop has a slightly tacky feel that reduces slipping to a certain extend back forward but less so side to side. The Braided Loop works well when it is snug but has plenty of elasticity and comfort.

Also the person doing the questionnaire thought that it may be possible to change the band online without returning thewatch as Apple are clearly aware of the issue. Hopefully a change in policy.

Thank you! I'll wait for your feedback right here then 🤞

Pics attached below. My wrist is 135mm and I’ve got the size 2 braided strap. Fit is pretty good! I like straps to be tight on my wrist so think a size 3 would be too loose for me (although may be acceptable for some). I’m wearing it quite far from my wrist so would be interested to try a size 1 just to see how different it is. Think size 1/2 is deffo the right choice for me though, hopefully that’s helpful to other folks.

I think if you’re wearing it close to your wrist and want a tight fit then a 1 is the way to go if you have 135mm wrists.

After using Apple's sizing tool, I ordered a 10, which is way too tight. I'm returning it, but there is a 6-8 week delay for the blue, which is the one I want. I was thinking of something though: the longer the band, the more it will stretch. So if you have a small wrist, and get a small size, it won't stretch as much as a longer size on a larger wrist. This makes it pretty tough to try by mail, and ideally the only way to know is to do it in store. (Ain't gonna happen here.) So if I do order another one, I'm not sure whether I should go for 12, because that would probably fit loosely, which is what I want, or 11, because it will stretch more.

was worried my braided band would be too large when it arrived.

I measured my wrist where my watch band had created a tan line with a soft measuring tape and got a tight (without skin pinching) 17cm.

inputted it into their convertor and on a 44mm it came in at a 7.

ordered within 15min of the Store going live

then the following days the reviews came out and everyone had a wrong sized band

well today i received my band and it’s perfect. In fact a 6 would have not made it over my wrist joint

I've had it for 1.5 days now, only had it off my arm for about 3 hours during that period (slept with it both nights). I don't think I've had it on for more than 10 hours or so though. It leaves light marks on my arm after only a few minutes. It seems equally snug now as it did when I first put it on, but that's hard to say conclusively as your wrist slightly changes width throughout the day, but it doesn't *seem* like it's stretched at all.

Went into the Apple Store last night to return my solo loop. I measured as an 8 but ended up getting a 7 since everybody was saying to size down. I figured since I was there I should try out the braided loop so I went through that process. They gave me the little measuring tool and again I measured as an 8. Tried the braided 8, waaaay too big. 7, 6, 5, 4... all too big. I found that pretty odd since the 7 in the solo loop was uncomfortably tight.

Didn't feel like messing with it since the sport band that came with the watch is suuuuper comfortable so I got the leather loop instead. Adjustability and a little more formal for the workplace felt right. The sport band will be for bed and the gym.
