If you return it within the first 30 days, you can get a new one, since its "Dead On Arrival". I had problems with the first one I got, exchanged it for a new one, and now Im happy with it.

Thats like exchanging an iphone 6 with inherent chips coming loose through bending issues ..it'll happen again. Should have been a quality design recall but no, same here.

For $2,399.00 you deserve a good Keyboard

Tim's Apl: Higher Margins, less thick, acceptable issues.... buy iphones (its what we do well by sticking with same model year after year, colors can change)

I feel vindicated with this story. I finally gave up after 4 of them and have decided to just live with the keys. I've brought them into the store over 7 times. Recall anyone..?

I had major issues with my 15" MacBook Pro keyboard with touchbar... I returned one because the "H" key would sometimes not work, other times it would type 3-4 H's when I tapped in once while typing... then on my new one it was the "B" key. I now have a 13" and have no problems so far.

Old age advice still holds, don't buy a rev A apple product. The next version will these issues resolved. And not being a smart arse , I've bought my share of Rev A to see the next version improve while I am stuck with issues.

Interestingly they had 2 generations of Mb to get it right

Personally, I always go with the last rev prior to a design change.

This says it all about this particular Macintosh.

The butterfly mechanism broke on my custom build model under the spacebar. Apple Genius bar sent it out for repair and Apple called me to state they were going to replace it due to the time involved with trying to fix it.

as soon as it came out, I saw that 'dome' underneath and thought... "hmmm, hope they tested that to destruction."

They should have held off a month or so and kept same design as previous gen with all necessary ports on board. Just upgrade internals to kaby lake ddr4(up to 32GB) and longer battery life. I reckon most people would have been happy with that.

So like Surface Book w/ PowerBase? Good idea:D

The '7' key on my 15" only worked when you hard pressed it when it was brand new. I was all ready to take it back and then it just began working properly and has been fine ever since.

I heard a few people talking about left over residue from manufacture that may cause this but I would recommend people give their new computers a couple of days to 'settle'.

Having said this, I was disappointed that my £2.5k Mac seemed to have an issue straight out the box, I am not just whinging, I think Apple needs to review QC on this one.

I would demand a refund if the problem persisted after four machines. You shouldn't give them any slack on this. You paid top dollar and it should work correctly. More people demanding refunds would send the right message to Apple.

Such an unwise design. It says a lot that it is "easier" for Apple to just dump the entire computer than to repair a keyboard. Wake up Apple.
My work Slamdung Windows laptop, circa 2012, has the same type of "tub" design as the MacBook Pros...
...and when it drank some coffee and the "D" key decided to fail, I looked into what it took to replace the keyboard.

I am here to tell you, it isn't just Apple.

Suffice it to say, I now haul a Logitech external KB around with me to use with my laptop. (Wanna know how many computer bags have room for a full-size keyboard? NONE; that's how many!)
