I don't mind the new keyboard when it actually works. My first MBP w/TB had to be returned due to a faulty "e" key. It actually became better with time, but I wanted to err on the side of caution. Thus far, my new laptop's keyboard (knock on wood) has been fine

Want Chinese junk that destroys IBM's once great computer legacy? Get a ThinkPad.
He's absolutely right, keyboard is still great.

Thinkpad Pros
- Keyboard
- Durability
- Repairability
- Upgradeability

Thinkpad Cons
- Screen
- Bad fan control
- Much less than advertised battery life

What baffles me most are the default screens on Thinkpads costing as much as a Mac or even more.
If you chose to upgrade it's still not great but decent, the base model usually is complete garbage.

My P key typed the letter twice out of the box. Was going to get a replacement, and then two weeks later the problem went away. It's been fine for two months now. Fingers crossed.
SMC reset fixes it, so likely to be a firmware update at some point.

If it's a software problem, why is Apple replacing them? I never did a SMC reset.

Might be related to relationships. There are Mac journalists who have interviewed Apple execs and not one has asked why the MacPro hasn't seen a rev since 2013.

Because they know the futility in asking such a question.

Pathetic. Can hardly call them a journalist then if they feel like they can't step on toes.

Maybe because the keyboard is absolute junk, designed for teenagers who never have to type for extended periods. There was nothing wrong with the keyboard, that's what happens when you fix something that isn't broken. Want a good keyboard? Get a ThinkPad.
another reason I am glad I bought a 2015 MacBook pro 15 when the 2016 was announced.

Clinging to my late-2013 maxed-out MBP. I've tried the new keyboard in the store and while I think the touchbar is kinda cool, the keyboard is awful and I couldn't imagine buying a laptop that feels like typing on a plate of Cheez-Its.

Add my voice to those who also really really don't like the force-touch trackpads. I actually was looking to pick up a Magic Trackpad and decided not to because the current-gen of it is ridiculous with that fake haptic "click". If this is the way forward, I'm reconsidering my commitment to the "ecosystem". Been waiting on a new iMac for months now and I'm just being given too much time to doubt this company's commitment to quality computers. Wondering if I should go grab a '15 iMac to avoid the inevitable "courage" model. Ech.

Was very skeptical about the new keyboard but so quickly got used to it that I'm hoping Apple soon replaces the desktop keyboard too with the new design. Haven't experienced any of the issues described.. 15" 2016-MBP.

May I ask what you prefer that you would want the desktop keyboard to use the thinner design despite not needing it for space saving purposes?

Absolute junk? Hyperbole anyone? Nothing wrong with mine.
2016 MBP is the gift that keeps giving! :D

Yes, it's been a great gift. The best laptop I've ever owned. I wouldn't hesitate for a second in buying it again.

It seems that there are more issues than normal with this generation of MBP. Glad I picked up a PC with an excellent keyboard while I wait for Apple to fix these problems for the next generation.

Glad you're happy with your PC. I fail to see "more issues".

Overall, I can understand that the keyboard takes an adjustment period for feel. It's also a legitimate problem if the keys don't respond or skip, repeat a character, etc. However, terms like "non-uniform feel" and some keys "feel spongier"? Give me a freakin' break.

I am not saying that people who have experienced some problems aren't justified in their complaints. However, we have no idea of the incidence of these problems. It seems some are painting with a broad brush here.
