I was at the White Plains, NY store and was told they would open tomorrow at 9am.

This is so sad in addition to the Earthquake in Japan. For every person waiting in line to get an iPad 2 in America, 10000000 workers in Taiwan and China are forced to work 24/7 while 1 is thinking of committing suicide.

If each person waiting in line would donate $2, I bet we could raise $2million for Japan. (base on the statistic that Apple sold 1 million iPad 2 x $2)
Or we could give the $2million to the workers oversea that make these iPad for you guys.

or better yet, if Apple brings the assembly job back to America, I bet we would make more iPad and more iPad would be available quicker since its made in America, and the economic wouldn't suck so much.

1. Otherwise they would not be working. More like starving. Maybe we should give them prozac so that they can be shiny, happy zombies like a lot of Americans today.

2. I don't need you to tell me to donate, did that before you even woke this morning.

3. Do you know anything about economies of scale? If Apple built the iPad here, it would cost double (and not sell). Hey, I had a Mac IIci that was built in Fremont, CA in 1990. Cost me $5,000 with a monitor.

4. Stop preaching.

I called the store nearest me, which normally opens at 10:00, and they said it will be available tomorrow at 9:00 on a first come first serve basis.

Considering the Foxconn suicide rate is lower than the US national average I don't think you are onto something.

If they open tomorrow at 9am doesn't that mean that they have them in stock today? Otherwise it would mean that FedEx would have to get there by at least 8:30 tomorrow which likely wont happen.

They probably get them late this afternoon - but that way people don't have to call every 10 minutes to find out if a shipment came in ... it's much more organized.

True!

I was just the Uptown store in Minneapolis, and they were saying they'd open early if they get a shipment today. 9AM to be exact.

I have an Apple store right across the street from my apartment. DAMN! Played with the ipad 2, white version(awesome coloring) and that mother***** is just too freaking badass!!!! The build quality is A+. I sold my 16 gig wifi/3G last week for the going rate of $300.00 I'm going to hold off getting the 64 gig wifi/3G for a few months.
I want to start a tutoring business with mine. Let the gold rush begin.

Fort Worth TX University Store

Was told that they were not opening early, just at 10:00 a.m. She said she did not know when shipments would be coming in.

San Diego UTC Apple

Home of line mismanagement didnt know anything about holding back stock and opening early tomorrow. And of course I got the same line "we dont know when the shipments arrive or what will be in them"

Someone please explain how can a multinational company not know what they shipped and where it was shipped to??
