Tim: we don’t need electrical engineers they cost too much.
intern: sir I just get you coffee.
Tim: I’m going to pull the plug on this.
(later)
exec: great idea removing the plugs. Bonuses all around.
Tim: Didn’t you get coffee for me?

Dang it, man. I hate it when Apple products (or any company's really) have safety issues like these.

I sleep with my left arm under my pillow. I can imagine my pillow catching fire...yeah, they need to address this ASAP.

This is the first instance of a drawback on wearables that I've taken notice of.

There may be an issue with the new Apple Watch SE, which some users have found is overheating after a few hours of usage. Several Apple Watch SE owners in South Korea have run into problems, as noted in a Reddit post chronicling the complaints.

There have been six reports from Apple Watch SE owners in South Korea who have had their Apple Watches get hot and malfunction, with a yellow spot appearing in the upper right corner of the watch.

All of the owners who have experienced issues were wearing the watch when it got hot on the wrist or when charging and then it later exhibited the display issue. As described on Reddit:There has been no teardown of the Apple Watch SE so it's unclear what might be causing the problem, but as noted on Reddit, if it is similar in design to prior models, this could be the display connectors near the Taptic Engine.

It is not clear why this problem seems to be limited to South Korea, but we have not found other reports about the issue on the MacRumors forums, the Apple Support Communities, or social media networks. There may be a problem specific to watches manufactured in a certain area and shipped to South Korea, or it could be a more widespread issue and reports just haven't come in yet.

This is what happens with SE which stands for **** Edition 😀.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. You’re just piling on a narrative started by a few anecdotal cases.

Unfortunately I know exactly what I am talking about. Apple have a long and inglorious history of cutting corners, making lesser quality to maximise profit. Have to be in complete denial to ignore that. We don't know what the problem here is yet, but there's substantial precedence to say that they could be cutting corners as they have done so in the past. It's all about profit for Apple, quality has been going down for a while.

I had my original Apple watch since launch with no problems, and last year I was in Korea and suddenly my watch died. Is there something over there that doesn’t like Apple watchez?

No. It’s a watch imprint (mechanical) on red skin (thermal). Not comfy but not serious.
No. It's a burn. Look again. The skin all around it is pale. The skin where the watch was is a light-red/pink. It's a burn. Perhaps not a serious one but a burn nonetheless.

Yes, it is a burn. I have mentioned about this clearly in the original post.

> After waking up in the morning, the owner wore the watch again, and approx. after 1hr 15-20 min later, the owner felt something cold (describing hot feeling cold when it is really hot) and hot right after, so the owner took off the watch to find the wrist burnt.

That's not a burn. My arm looks like that after wearing mine all day and take it off. Nothing new.

Agree, it looks like he wears his watch really, really tight. a burn would be very red, or a bad burn would be blistered

Either that watch was too tight or there are opportunists looking to file a lawsuit. And maybe I'm wrong and a cynical skeptic, but I feel like you'd take it off from being hot well before it started to burn your skin.

It is a sudden overheating.

Correct.
So many apple lovers here who want to deny written facts.

There are certainly aspects in their hardware where Apple pinches pennies, but OTOH, there are also aspects like their CPUs where they do quite the opposite. They could've put a much older CPU than the S5 in the SE, for example.

And as for this issue? If it's the result of cutting corners, well, they're at risk of recalls and lawsuits. That's hardly cheap.

Holy thread of garbage, juvenile comments.

On a serious note:

I see this as a pressing issue that needs to be addressed relatively quickly, and to what extent of how many units is affecting XYZ users is to be found. Anything that poses a health risk in this regard, is something that requires swift action before lawsuits start piling on for a multitude of reasons.

Didn’t say it wasn’t a burn. Said it wasn’t bad. If you’re going to jump in, take a look at the post to which the person is replying. Helps with context. The round part is an imprint, the surrounding square part is a mild grade 1 burn.

Think twice before sleeping with one of these...

I would agree... I'm not yet sure what meaningful info I can gain about my sleep pattern.. I kept it on a few nights, otherwise seems pointless.. Is it yet detecting if people have sleep apnea or snoring too loud, I don't think so and wouldn't apply to me...

I keep my phone bedside but on airplane mode and don't charge anything in the room I sleep.. Never know if it starts smoking or burning in the middle of the night.. Sure, smoke detector is your backup...

I have the series 4 and didn't think the series 6 was worth the upgrade. The series 4 doesn't get hot and I still get all day battery. Maybe the Apple Watch Series 7 will include a small fan to keep it cool.
I have a series 6 and it doesn’t get hot, exactly like series 4 I owned in the past
