And I was planning to get one too... but now I have to settle for an M340i so I can cover this Hermes. Why are people upset the BMW 330 no longer comes in white? The M3 comes in white…

Yes, Apple’s research showed them that the two most popular colors were so hated that they had to go…
Just so you know, this was the first time I ever inserted an emoji in a MR post. Your comment was that ridiculously condescending.
Before you make your decision, I suggest going to an Apple store, if you have one close enough. Then you can see the colors yourself. I would caution against basing your decision on images posted online or on people's hot takes on what they think the colors look like. Color can be a subtle thing and environment and your own expectations can make a huge difference.I'm one of the unhappy customers.
Apple is going to do what Apple is going to do, but I really don't like the absence of real black and silver on the new aluminum watches.
It puts me in an uncomfortable position of "settling" for one of the existing colors.
I really wanted to get a watch, but now I'm thinking twice. I wish they'd added the new colors instead.
That said, I'm well aware that these things will sell like hotcakes regardless.
You can pick whatever watch and whatever band you want. It just isn't obvious. You have to pick a watch first (doesn't matter which one) and then click on the Create Your Style button on the order page. You can pick whatever watch and whatever band you want from that page. You can only order the graphite stainless steel with a blue band or a milanese loop?! I just wanted the black solo loop. I wish Apple would just sell the watch on it's own and let you buy the band separately. I'd be fine just using my old band until supply constraints ease up and I can get the band I want.
They’re so hit or miss, though. I bought what looked and felt like a great quality knockoff nylon band...on the 3rd or 4th wear, I looked at my watch and the band was hanging into the watch connector by like a thread. Almost a disaster, and I threw down for an Apple band same day.You can get knockoffs for much less anyway. Not quite as thick, but I have been wearing knockoff nike style bands for years and they are great. You can choose the main and hole colors at a much wider gamut than Apple.
This is a website dedicated to first world issues, no?First world issues?
Username checks outNo Space Gray - so no Apple Watch 7 for me.
Thanks to Apple for making the decision so easy to me.

I almost went with the green. I've been told I look really good in deep greens, such as hunter green. however, it's really really hard to get normal-looking clothes in those colors, even in the summer when clothing options for men loosen up from the black / blue / white. So it would have been a green watch with blue clothes.... and look, I'm not all that great with picking clothing styles, and even I knew that wasn't going to work.
And four thirds the weight. No sale.yes and almost twice the price.
I'm imagining that the real reasons for the color choices sound like meryl streep in "the devil wears prada" describing "cerulean". lol.Would be interesting to get to know Apple‘s real motivation for the color choices.
With all the conspiracy theories about Apple‘s intentional and [insert favourite adjective here] behaviour being in full effect here, it‘d be more than funny if the root cause would simply have been pandemic-induced shortages of required materials for certain colours for the number of products Apple usually calculates …
Too bad we‘ll probably never know for sure.
Thanks for putting it in a “reasonable” manner. I'm still sticking to my emotional rant because, as of late, Apple really seems to have been taken over by arrogant people.True. But there are some people who like silver things no matter what the trendy colors are. And others who prefer dark colors devoid of hue.
My guess is starlight is very similar to white gold, which is fine. My wife and I have WG wedding bands.
But no matter what the current trend, car companies always sell white and black cars. And bath fixtures are always offered in chrome. Locksets always offered in polished brass.
Metal watches are always offered in silver color, be it titanium or stainless or white gold. Sport watches are always offered in black or silver. That’s over a century of history for a reason.
I may just get my wife an SE instead. She doesn’t care about always on watchface or blood sugar. So we save $120…
Only Apple would kill its best selling colour...... Space Grey. What a #fail
Apple likely just lost €469 (from a very loyal customer who's bought a crap ton of products from them over the years, including a Series 0 Watch way back when, mind you).
Looks nice with the white band! When I tried it on in the store I paired it with my black solo loop and that unfortunately didn‘t quite match in my opinion. But you‘re completely right, the color is so different to what you would expect it to be from the press photos. Everyone considering it should go and see it in person before making the decision!Okay, I was on the fence because of the colours and decided to go to the local Apple Store to check out the new Nike 45mm variants. The Starlight is a warmer silver colour, but it is definitely silver. It actually looks better and more classy than the original silver. It is definitely not as yellow as the photos make it look. Nevertheless, it’s too bright for me and more feminine than I’d like it to be. Now, the Midnight.
Based on the photos, I expected Midnight to be distinctly blue, dark, but still visibly blue. Boy was I wrong. While you can tell that there is “blue” there when you look carefully under 3000k or whiter light, the new finish actually looks much closer to black. At a glance, it indeed looks black. It is actually a really nice, very, very deep and dark blue colour that makes the watch look unusually classy. I went from being staunchly anti new colours, to now genuinely thinking that this is the best aluminum colour Apple has released to date. This is the first aluminum watch that can actually decently dress up. Before this I had the Space Gray versions, including Series 6, and even owned the Black DLC original stainless steel watch. This is my favourite colour so far and the best replacement for the jet black original.
The first photo shows how the watch looks when you see it more “casually” (though I’m still trying to make the blue come through). The second is a conscious effort to bring out the blue. I photographed this under 3000k light.
