Is there a 'shaking your head' emoji?
Then when Tim Cook leaves the Apple TEAT that graciously feeds his Non-Apple social engineering programs and involvements, the shaking head emoji will just be a happy face again. Time is moving so slowly these days.

i wouldn't call that defective, just a massive accident. I wouldn't really be returning one if i had such a case,, Just cut one out yourself ...

Indeed. As they found some iPhone 12 without any speakers holes, the Plant Manager quickly phoned the case factory and they changed the design. It’s the flexibility and adaptability that Tim talked about when defending Chinese manufacturing.
EXCELLENT observation..................why do we continue to have to endure incompetence at the top, there has to be another "Steve Jobs" waiting to rescue Apple from itself.............AGAIN. The WRONG man at the WRONG job at the WRONG time. It is much like 1995 all over again.

Wait. What’s the deal with the 3/5 holes?
Back when one was a mic and one was a speaker, ok, but now?
:(
When making the iPhone XS/XS Max, they had to make room for the antenna lines, so they axed the symmetry in favor of better LTE and now 5G performance. Since each iPhone since then has shared the design language, none have added back the symmetry of the bottom speaker grille.

I may be in the camp of someone in favor of either adding cosmetic holes or removing holes from the phones in order to provide symmetry regardless of performance. Apple apparently wants to just remove all of the ports from the case :p

Introducing Apple Holes. You’ll love Apple Holes. You can do just about anything with an Apple Hole.

We’re also introducing the Apple Hole Pro Max Giganto. The biggest Hole ever, in a hole.

There’s one more thing: The Apple Hole Mini. Our tiniest Hole ever. We can’t wait to show your our Holes. You can pre-order your Hole the day after you realize your case has no holes.
BRILLIANT observation on the Apple Hype we endure each year when "NEW" products are introduced, you are one of the few Apple Fans who really "get it". "NEW", like the iPhone 12 models which have gone back to a very successful design with squared edges.

As I have said before: Apple cases and cables are of poor quality, specially compared to third-party manufacturers that are half the price.

The most expensive cases I have owned I purchased from Apple and they have been the least durable.

And cables... well, they tend to self-destroy in around a year. I still have third-party lighting cables from other manufacturers, I leave them in the car (heat/cold), travel with them, and still look perfect after years.

Right there, the leather cases are the least durable in their catalogue.

That may be true for older iPhone cases. But this year Magsafe makes all the difference. With plain cases you forgo all the Magsafe benefits. I'm not saying that Apple cases are worth the money because I agree, they're ridiculously expensive! But this year, 3rd party Magsafe cases wouldn't be that much cheaper because it has magnet exclusively for 12 models.

Lightning cables quality also terrible, but hopefully Magsafe puck charger fix that problem because you don't have to pull as hard hence less strain at the tip, just like the Apple Watch charger which is very durable in my experience.

Based on how obnoxious some people are with listening to annoying music on speaker, I say this is a good defect.

I have to disagree on this one: I‘ve been using the original iPhone SE for 3,5 years now with the original leather case from day one and while the finished has aged (as it happens with any natural skin) it’s still in perfect shape. The charging cable is still the original that I’m using everyday, even with my iPad as well. It’s a bit grey in color but otherwise absolutely perfect (even the strain reliefs).

What happened to Apple QC? I used to sell phone accessories. Even $2 Chinese cases I haven’t seen a single mistake like this.

My iPhone 11 Pro clear case is still perfectly clear and in original shape after 1 year. No yellow. One scratch because I dropped my iPhone from the chest level to concrete ground and it bounced like crazy more than once.

Also even my iPhone 1 (yes, the original one) cable is still in perfectly shape. I used iPhone and iPad every other models since start and no cable is broken. The current cable I’m using is the one comes with iPhone 5. The other cables I never took it out of the box until I sold them as 2nd hand. Only thing I did was just rolling the cable in circle before putting in my backpack.

In all seriousness, such manufacturing defects from Apple is just unacceptable. Apple prides itself on basically having no manufacturing flaws.

Hopefully there won't be the same manufacturing error for retail iPhones themselves. That would be like getting a glimpse of future portless, completely solid iPhones in 2020.
