Ok, you proved my theory with wifi only wrong ....

WHY???? I ordered the 64GB 3G AT&T (white) 1 minute before you .... did you get the black one? Mine didn't even prepare for shipment yet.

Mine is Black, sorry man, I don't know how they prioritize. My FedEx info was showing delivery on March 18th, so I'm really happy that I got it today.

I ordered early like 10 minutes before 1am friday morning. I picked up my iPad yesterday from my local Fed Ex shop. Black WiFi only 32GB

I did exactly the same ( and same model ). Currently showing a delivery of the 18th - showing as still in Lantau Island although it probably wont be updated until the plane arrives in the US.

No strong sales, NOT aside. Great!

A little more info please in which way they screwed up?

Your inside info please!

They new the numbers for the first iPad. It would have been a simple move to have the same if not more ready for the second iPad.

Common sense. It's amazing how many people don't have it anymore. Though saying that, Apple have never done a launch properly. Some idiot probably thinks it's good business.

Apple is having a really tough time getting Foxconn to produce enough product. I'm not certain that demand for the IPad 2 is significantly higher than it was for gen 1, but Foxconn has suffered a slowdown which has constrained supply.

The Foxconn issue is a slowdown in growth. They're still producing more each quarter, just not as many more.
Companies really can't grow at the same rate through infinity.

You have to understand that "full of win" sits on this site hitting refresh waiting for a new thread to appear so that he can post on the first page how Apple did wrong or is inferior. All because he hates Apple. He may not invest much money in apple but he sure does invest a lot of time in it.

Agreed. Very few of his posts (if you look at history) say something constructive or positive. The guy seems to hate Apple (or maybe just iOS -- not sure yet). I wonder why somebody would spend so much time on a website devoted to something they hate, but it is his time and he's free to say what he likes.

Personally, I've gotten in the habit of skipping to read his posts when I see his avatar. With most folks on this forum I will agree with them some of the time and disagree with them some of the time. With Full of Win, it tends to be a 99% disagreement and I wonder if he is expressing his true opinion or just trying to incite contention. Either way, best not to get caught up in the argument as it only serves to invite more posts from him.

Strong sales aside, Apple really screwed up this launch.

is it oxymoron time?

So I ordered mine on Mar 11, 2011 at 12:51 AM PDT, and the status still shows "Not yet shipped"....This is incredibility frustrating.....

I ordered 1 black 3G 32GB, andd 1 white 3G 32GB (both At&t models). Do you think the model would affect the shipment? I seriously don't know how Apple prioritize their shipments.. should be based on how early orders are placed..

is it oxymoron time?

Lol yeah that makes no sense. Apple just screwed up prioritizing shipments. If you order first, should you not get it first or at least same day? Instead of how people who ordered later are getting theirs before the earlier orders even get picked up in China. Come on...

Typing this on my ipad2

My nice fedex man just delivered mine man this thing is way faster and is awesome!! Although my smart cover is still in China!!

Received iPad 2 from Verizon on March 15th

I missed the window to order online from Apple on last Friday, March 11th, so called Verizon at 5:15 ET and ordered a 64GB, Black iPad 2. Though Verizon somehow failed to send the shipping notice with the tracking number, it arrived on Tuesday. I had some issue provisioning the 3G connection, and support had to look up all of the answers. After a reset and resynch, everything worked fine. :apple:

Well the same plant that produces iPad 2 probably produces iPad 1 which was selling pretty darn well through January (maybe even through February). It's kinda hard to produce one or two million units that fast (try to imagine how many airplanes it would take to transport that many units). I do believe that Apple specifically avoided the "pre-order" scenario in order to garner more media attention on launch with long lines, but I don't believe they are intentionally constricting supply. After all, Apple is coming up on the close of a fiscal quarter in two weeks. They cannot recognize revenue on iPads they have not shipped. At the same time, the fact that they did not restrict purchases to three per customer tends to indicate a desire to sell as many as possible before the quarter ends.

I feel your pain. Mine just shipped out today, but I really could've used it before Monday (it's set to arrive Tuesday). Based on how what I've seen people saying about their orders, I'd say it has less to do with what model you ordered and more to do with how nonsensical Apple's fulfillment process is.

12:55 am Friday - placed order for two iPad2's with 64GB memory and WiFi + AT&T 3G. On truck today for delivery! Was quoted 3 -5 business days to ship, original ETA was for Friday 3/18 delivery, happy to say the FedEx planes had a tail wind from China to Alaska to California to where I live, Oregon. The smart covers arrived yesterday.

I think that they just pushed up this launch to as early as they could possibly make it. That way they can sell them as fast as they can make them, and it makes it seem like they're selling even faster than they are (which is still insanely fast). Guess it's better than not having them at all yet and then being able to walk into an Apple store the day after launch and pick one up. Slightly ridiculous though that at my local Apple store I heard there was a line this morning for them. Makes me feel better about waiting for the online order to ship.

Guys, shipments are in by no way guaranteed by order time. Come on.

They ship these things in gigantic pallets. There is a lot that goes into operations and logistics in shipping these things out. Some factors being...metro area, sales within that area, etc.

They need to optimize shipping to keep costs low while shipping max number of units.

I ordered a 16GB White WiFi at 4:39 AM eastern on March 11 and mine has not even prepared to ship yet. I called Apple customer service today because the money they were holding went back into my account. They said the bank will only put a hold on the money for so long. She said my order is suppose to ship tomorrow. Tomorrow is the 5th day and they are going to get a nasty call if its not shipped

I ordered Black 64GB Verizon 3G model at 1:01am PST on March 11th -- it says it is suppose to arrive on Tuesday March 22nd according to FedEx tracking -- I am hoping it arrives early like yours did. The FedEx tracking info is a bit hard to follow sometimes. The updates tend to be sporadic at times and some of the things I ordered are taking different steps. For example:

My camera kit went from Shenzen to "In Transit" at Lantau Island to Anchorage, to Oakland, and then to my home city (suppose to arrive today).

My digital AV adapter when from Shenzen to "In transit " at Lantau Island to Memphis, and to my home city (suppose to arrive today).

My smart cover went from Shenzen to "In transit" at Lantau Island and has been stuck in that state for 36 hours.

My actual iPad 2 (the last thing to ship) went from Shenzen to "In transit" at Lantau Island and then after 24 hours to "At local FedEx Facility" in Lantau Island.

So I thought my iPad 2 had left Lantau Island and was destined for the US only to discover 24 hours later it was still in Lantau Island. So what does "In Transit" mean? I thought it meant that it left that location and was on its way to the next. Hard to imagine my iPad 2 left Lantau Island and then returned there 24 hours later.

Recieved my iPad 2 this morning...a full day before when it should have shown up. I live in Northern California...not bad for it being stuck in Alaska for 2 whole days almost 32 hours.

ETA: 5 hours!

My Black 64 Verizon iPad2 went thru Tennessee and is out for delivery on a truck in Los Angeles. I ordered it about 12:15am. The smartcover arrrived yesterday.

CHECK THAT. FEDEX JUST DROPPED IT OFF!

I got mine delivered to my house in the off chance tha tthey would make it for a Saturday delivery (overly optimistic). Now I am going to be at work when Fedex arrives. Dammit!
