Actually it was... I was on a flight once and a fat guy was sitting in the middle seat. As he went to sit down he lifted the arm rest and then basically sat on me. I asked him to move and he got offended. So I called the flight attendant and asked for 50% off my ticket as I was clearly only sitting in 50% of my seat. It is easy to say that they aren't bothering you but sadly life is not that simple and some of them feel the need to make an issue out of their weight. I also pay higher insurance premiums because of peoples weight so I take issue with that as well. Obviously it doesn't apply to everyone but it does for the vast majority sadly.

That's a valid complaint - but people cracking on fat people is hardly limited to airline circumstances only. It's every day, on message boards, on the street, etc. There's really no need for it. Airplanes are probably the worst example, because there are tons of annoyances perpetrated on passengers by other passengers. I sat next to a man on a flight that had body odor so strong, a woman across the aisle had to hold a handkerchief up to her nose. My eyes actually watered, and I'm not even exaggerating. I can't count the number of times I've been seated next to (or within earshot) of screaming, bouncing children who interfered with my comfort and made me unable to relax, sleep, etc. So while I think it's a valid complaint, it's one of the very, very few circumstances when a person's weight directly affects you.

As to health insurance, like I said, unless you're going to direct similar hatred to smokers (who cost far, far more than fat people), the uninsured, people that have tons of kids, etc., it's really evidence of more singling out fat people for ridicule.

I could actually give a pretty thorough analysis of how people with children actually cost everyone more time, money, and aggravation than pretty much any other group. But it's much more acceptable to blame everything on fat people.

Nobody is blaming everything on fat people. What we are saying is that there is nothing wrong with using the word fat and it is nothing like the other words tossed out there. I tell smokers that they stink as well and I have taken my car at lunch rather than sit in a smokers car for 15 min.

This thread was started because the "fat" people were basically picking an argument. Are you saying that this never happens? I can tell you it does and even today someone took a shot at me holding their arms out and walking like they had a stick up their butt. This person was fat!

As I said, I will help anyone that wants it but some people are happy having to take 3 breaks just walking out to their car. If fat is becoming the norm, I will gladly be abnormal.

Suggesting that you apply introspection to a problem that is obviously bothering you quite a bit is hardly "attacking" or "bitching on" you. Your defensive response does, however, lend support to the opinions other posters have expressed about you. Rather than lash out again, perhaps you ought to give some thought to what they have to say, and consider what you could do differently to solve this problem on your end.

You're again ignoring all the other posters who've had similaire experiences to mine though. If really my actions were at issue, I'd be alone in this and no one would have said they have observed the same. Don't worry I've done the introspection bit way before posting here.

Anyway, I have my answer and this thread is now far off course. Time to end it. Like I said earlier, I may not like it but the only answer now is to just ignore these folks and live my life how I feel it should be lived. Pride be damned let them say what they want about my healthy lunches and my occasional donuts or chips.

What are you supposed to say nowadays? Slightly bigger than thin? Undertall? They are fat and no amount of political correctness can talk all that fat away.

Call them fat but calling them fatties is an entirely different thing. If you can't comprehend that then I pity the ignorance.

Where did fatties come from? Nobody said that at all... (unless I missed it)

Ugh, I am done with this thread.

You didn't look very hard:

And if there's anything worse than fatties, it's people who feel the need to take their clothing off at company functions.

Hmm, who wasn't wearing togs? The Fatties!

...other fatties I would come in contact with would pretty much act the same way your peeps are.

I don't make fun of or judge fatties let alone even use the term in real life...

So what, let them say what they want.

Most people think too much and create unnecessary drama.

You eat healthy stuff let them eat rubbish, big deal.

I wax quite big but got healthy, you just have to decide, yourself.

You should have respected his gluttony.
