No no no no. This amount of steps for disabling a toggle that clearly is not working as intended... come on. This is crazy. This is insane. How is this even possible?. How it´s happening?. What kind of QA is this?. How this survived even the early stages of the IOS 16 betas, and is present in the final released version?. Do Apple even use their own software?
Sad but so true.

I mentioned on 9to5mac thread on battery issues with 16.x that one person made a different suggestion than I have seen that draining is due too nonupdated third party app’s causing drain. I have no idea but looking at 10 day and 24 hours most apps are either Apple or my messenger and Facebook apps (likely updated). Just a suggestion? Here is mine. 10 days vs 24 hours FYI if you see a pattern. Hope it helps someone

rjjacobson, if the Facebook app is hogging THAT much battery power, I might as just access Facebook using Safari and/or Chrome instead.
That first photo is for 10 day use. So Facebook was around 3 hours total use for 10 days. Or 12 percent last 24 hours (second photo)

For me the facebook use I do weekly not serious, I also am not having battery drain problems and my 13 ProMax did fine the week I had it on 16.01. Much better battery use on iphone thats me spending time on facebook its not background use. It is nice to have facebook use separate from a browser use to see how much I use it in 10 days. I prefer it in app on iphone (do not like what is missing in the iPadOS version which is different than iOS and MacOS Safari though but thats another subject. ;-)

In the second photo half of battery use is my beer app (I love craft beer so sorta like social app for beer nerds LOL), photos and music. Facebook was just over 10 percent. Does not seem excessive to me but I use facebook a lot for hobby groups I coo-administer and family stuff

I had my first issue yesterday with my 14 Pro Max 256 GB. The phone just randomly shut off while it was at 87% battery. Had to force restart it to get it back up and running. My Dad's 14 Pro Max has had this issue twice already.

(Work in QA myself and agree that these bugs are rampant within iOS 16.0, a mix of low and high-priority issues for this release)
Are you using the cable that came in the box along with an Apple plug they sell seperately? I am and not had that.

Can’t wait for 16.1. I just bought an AW8 and I can’t use it because I have to update my 13Pro to iOS16 😕

I am not having this problem but I have seen it mentioned how do you find a runaway process will it show in battery usage info or is it unseen in background. I always kill my apps periodically on screen so they are not running in background in anyway. And when iOS gets weird with errors then time for a reboot of phone. I seem to avoid most problems at least in my experience.
It’s harder to track down on iOS than on Mac OS as you don’t get as much detail.

As you have seen, the battery usage screen will show you which apps are using power. What that won’t tell you is if some system process is running hot. Sometimes a reboot can help if it is a transient situation.

Thanks sorta what I was thinking but you confirmed for me

How long did you and your dad have new phones before these issues appeared (just curious if this is just after the install and while the phone is busy for a day or few days later). I have not seen this at all on my 14 ProMax 1 TB.

I always have problems setting up polls here but wonder about a number of issues.

1) Battery drain is it worse on the smaller 14 Pro battery, from some discussions it makes me wonder…. Other issues have not seen or experienced since I got mine on 16th of September.

2) Even CarPlay is fine in 16.01 and 16.02 for me on my Mazda 6, but mine is a wired aftermarket add by dealer (my car is 2016 so CarPlay took a couple years to be available). So is issue with wired CarPlay or bluetooth CarPlay? Lots of questions

This was a full day for my Dad after he got his 14 Pro Max. For me, mine happened a full week after the release day.

(Both are 256 GB models)

1. Battery drain I've honestly been impressed with on my 14 Pro Max, charge time too. (I came back from a high-end Android though and don't use FaceBook or TikTok at all)

2. CarPlay I haven't even looked at yet, trying to hold out until the 16.1 release. I'm kinda glad I didn't use CarPlay when I thought about heading into a work event, because it would've flat out died on me while trying to figure out a new destination on my end. (Horrible with directions)

The number of bugs in the release have been so bad, I'm inclined to take some time on the weekend and go to town in their feedback app. (If you knew what I actually tested for a living, it'd be somewhat funny that I'm taking my time to file bugs for a smartphone lol)

Yep, I use the Apple cable that came with the phone to charge it throughout the day.

At night tho, I've been using the Courant CATCH:2 for wireless charging for the 14 Pro Max and my AirPods Pro. I'm wondering now if I should just buy Courant's MagSafe cable, or go with Apple's instead. (Hate how short Apple's cables are personally)

That's why my iPhone 12 is running on right now. I'll wait for iOS 16.1 with more significant fixes in mid-October 2022.
Even with iOS 16.1 I will first read some feedback from the people here. Usually Apple screws up the first couple of updates before it stabilises.

This is why I think iOS 17 will be more like MacOS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, where the emphasis will be more on bug fixes than new features.

I'm using the 14 pro on 16.0.2, the auto appearance still does not automatically toggle between light and dark mode. I've tried setting it to sunrise/sunset AND a custom time, neither works. Also tried resetting the phone, no help. Is this a known bug? Is it iOS 16 or the 14 pro? Thanks for any perspective offered!
