Apple need to go back to the drawing board. iOS has been garbage for years in regards to bugs, and the fact that we have such a disgrace of a release like iOS 16 means they are either incompetent or they just don’t care.
More like wfh. Get everyone back in the office ffs!! This clearly isn’t working.

Today marks exactly two weeks since Apple released iOS 16 to the public. Besides the personalized Lock Screen, major changes in Messages, and new features in Maps, the update has also seen its fair share of bugs, performance problems, battery drain, and more.

General-iOS-16-Feature-Yellow.jpg

After major iOS updates, it's normal for some users to report having issues with the new update, but such reports usually subside in the days following the release. This year, things have been different, as iOS 16 has seen quite a few bugs being reported by users on an almost daily basis.

The initial version of iOS 16 was iOS 16.0 for all supported iPhones, while the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro had a day-one iOS 16.0.1 update available that addressed some problems for the latest iPhones. Last week, Apple released iOS 16.0.2, which addressed camera shaking on the iPhone 14 Pro, an annoying copy and paste prompt, and more. Despite the iOS 16.0.1 and iOS 16.0.2 updates, users continue to face several unaddressed bugs. Here are a few of them:

MacRumors has seen no sign of iOS 16.0.3 in our analytics, so it's unclear if Apple is planning another iOS 16 update before iOS 16.1 ships next month. Apple is currently testing iOS 16.1 with developers and public beta testers, but it won't see a launch until October, likely alongside iPadOS 16.1 and macOS Ventura. Apple Support has been advising customers who are facing issues to restart their iPhones, and in the worst-case scenario, do a restore, in hopes of addressing their problems.

I think the battery drain issue might partially be related to photo library duplicate checking - it could take days or even weeks to do all that apparently. Especially if you have 127000 photos

No no no no. This amount of steps for disabling a toggle that clearly is not working as intended... come on. This is crazy. This is insane. How is this even possible?. How it´s happening?. What kind of QA is this?. How this survived even the early stages of the IOS 16 betas, and is present in the final released version?. Do Apple even use their own software?

If you have Facebook installed, that could be your problem. It will run in the background, even though you have that turned off.

If you want to know what using your battery just go to battery in settings, and it will tell you
Def not kidding about Facebook working in background 🫠

For battery life. Try at least temporarily this:
Settings -> Siri & Search -> Scroll down when you start seeing the Apps.

For each App - Disable everything except Show App in Search.

This will prevent spotlight search inside apps, learning from their usage and Spotlight will stop indexing everything all the time.

For me, on iPhone 14 Pro max - it had a huge impact on battery life.

First 2 days with brand new phone - ended up with 45-48% battery life.
Since I disabled that I end the day with 68-75% battery life.

I think this is what Low Power Mode does too.

Try it if you don't need specific Spotlight searches within apps, at least until a patch is released.

Update: Also check the attached image and disable all items
I always do this with a new clean iPhone, but I hate it. It does save battery, but I don’t want to be turning off features to try and get acceptable battery life.

Users should not have to spend an hour or however long in Settings turning things off to get good battery - it should be great out of the box, with all the feature Apple intended users to use enabled. A sad state of Apple’s OS, imo.

Battery seems to drain quicker on my 13 Pro compared to iOS 15. I don’t use FB or Instagram apps.
It’s not crazy bad but I hope 16.1 will be polished and improve battery life.

On my 14 Pro Max most mornings my display brightness is at 0% and I have to manually set it back to what ever I had it before. Didn't happen out of the box. Just another of the many bugs that we have to deal with.

Safari screen freezes randomly on 14 Pro for about 10 seconds, then kinda scrolls, then resumes working. Also enabling Private Tabs in Safari, the current web page doesn’t show correctly at top with ‘Allow Website Tinting’ on. Don’t have this problem with 12 Pro and ios 16.

I agree.

I just shared what I did temporarily until an fix comes and I didn't enforce anyone to do so. 😉

First off, do we know how widespread these issues are?

And it’s only been two weeks. Doesn’t mean that Apple will never fix these issues. Just that they haven’t been fixed yet.
Good question. It's amazing how the same software with supposedly the same hardware can have such different results. My 12 Pro Max has improved so much since upgrading to iOS 16. I'm halfway through my day and my battery is at 88%. Yet, others have vastly different experiences. Looking at the number of people complaining, there must be many where iOS 16 is a nightmare.

I'm finding navigating around on my 11 laggy at times and I've been in apps where they keyboard should show but I get a big grey square instead. These will get fixed in time. Generally iOS 16 is an improvement on 15 and I like the new features.

Interesting the some claim a myriad of issues and others claim no issues. I'm in the latter camp.

Personally, my 13 pro max felt faster and smoother on iOS 16 compared to 15.6. Battery life is more or less the same.

I did initially experience some extra battery drain with my Apple Watch (would lose an extra 10% over the day) but as of yesterday, it seems to have ironed itself out.

Running the beta, one of the versions drained my iPhone 12PM battery pretty quickly. I don't seem to have that issue after final release. I randomly get a flickering on the new Lock Screen if I use Apple Pay. The globe will just flicker like crazy right after. Not every time but it is annoying as hell when it does happen.

At this point it would be news if a major Apple release was bug free; the current situation is to be expected.

Got my 14 pro last Friday night. And since I noticed the battery is draining really fast and it’s constantly getting really hot really fast.
But today (3 days after) it seems it’s all calmed down like a lot of the guys posted here. It seems the battery is doing well and the overheating is not there any more

Same for me my 14 ProMax has amazing battery life and the week I tested on my old 13 ProMax it was great. I suppose it all has to do with what setups and apps folks do. Some may conflict and use battery more than others, I really dont no and am sorry for those having problems but my 14 is doing well had 90 percent going to bed last night after a day of “normal” use
