The people are charging it wrong! It clearly needs to be charged using renewable energy, coal energy won't do it! Coal energy causes dirty energy buildup on the screen, that is why it is dark, it can only be cleared using the hard reboot.

This just proves that it doesn't matter who makes the product. When the company release a brand new product, it will have it's share of problems. Surface Book has software problems too. This is why it's better to wait a few months for companies to iron out the problems.

What??? Microsoft released a product with bugs??? No way.

I had this same issue with an iPad Air last night. It was at roughly 40% and I threw it on the charger yesterday when I was doing other things. Last night the iPad was non-responsive and no matter what I did, got a black screen. Long press and hold of the power button woke it up.

A growing number of users on the Apple Support Communities, MacRumors discussion forums and social media have reported issues with the iPad Pro becoming unresponsive after being charged for a lengthy amount of time, forcing affected users to perform a hard restart to turn the device back on.

MacRumors forum member "BizzaroClark" claims that, on multiple occasions, his iPad Pro has "appeared frozen" and "will not wake" after being charged. After hard resetting the iPad Pro, he said the device has 100% battery life. Dozens of users have shared similar experiences over the past five days.Apple blog Mac Kung Fu pointed us towards Apple Support Communities and Reddit topics about the issue with nearly 5,000 views and 200 comments combined, indicating the problem is rather widespread. iPad Pro user "darkfire.shadows" shared his experience in the Apple Support Communities:MacRumors confirmed the issue has affected one of our iPad Pros since last Wednesday.

The issue has affected both 32GB and 128GB iPad Pros on iOS 9.1, including Wi-Fi and LTE models. It remains unclear if the problem is rooted in hardware or software, but some users speculate that restoring from an iCloud backup during setup may be contributing to the freezing issues.

Apple's support team has provided customers with mixed solutions, ranging from restoring the iPad to factory settings using iTunes to force restarting the device by holding down the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously for at least ten seconds, until an Apple logo appears on the screen.

Last month, we reported that some iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6 users have experienced similar issues with their smartphones randomly powering off, even when left unattended and with sufficient battery power, indicating this could be a broader iOS 9 issue. Apple has not officially commented on the matter.

Had exactly this issue, 128GB WiFi that was restored from the backup of my iPad Air 2 which had just been decommissioned. First time, the Apple Store in the Oracle Reading swapped the unit immediately. That had exactly the same issue, asked to switch to a different colour unit to force a change in manufacturing batch, but they were all out of 128GB WiFi models. Did a hard reset, and it's been fine since.

Pen due 14-18th December, but otherwise happy so far.

My iPod 5 used to do this as well. IOS 9.1 cured it completely somehow. I be they put out an update and all will be right again...

I had this problem on my iPhone after updating to iOS 9.* I had to hard reset after charging overnight. This happened multiple nights in a row. I was able solve it by quitting all the apps in the app switcher and then restarting. Never happened again.

Typical deal where a very small but vocal group experiences an issue and suddenly people believe it's a far bigger problem than it really is. Happens all the time and generally less than 1% of users actually see the problem.

I can't believe after ALL THESE YEARS, we have to use the product "from new" to get the damn thing working right.
Yeezus Apple, get that fundamental things RIGHT!

Ok, I can confirm that this has happened to me also *AND* I used the iCloud restore. I'm going to try setting it up as a new iPad(no iCloud restore) and see if the problem is fixed.

I have no issues with mine, I set it up as a new device.

It is not exclusively tied to iCloud restored iPads...I set up as new and I am still having this problem.

Typical deal? No more typical than downplaying the issues that people experience, chalking it up to whiners, trolls, and drama queens even though Apple later acknowledges that it is an issue and releases a subsequent update to address it.

We'll see. If my iPad is fixed after setting it up as new, then we're pretty sure it's related to the iCloud restore.

This happened to me the other day with my iPhone 6s Plus and it caused me to be late to work since the alarm never went off. When my wife woke me up, I checked my phone. The screen was black and the device was unresponsive. I thought maybe there was an issue with the charging cable and assumed the battery died overnight, so I plugged in a separate cable - nothing. Plugged the same cables into my wife's iPhone 5, and the phone vibrated and indicated it was charging. Did a hard reset on it as a last ditch effort and fortunately it powered on ... with 100% battery life. I was pretty mad because this is already the third iPhone 6s Plus I've owned. The other two had backlight display issues. This one has the same backlight issues as the others but I've just decided to live with it for now.

Same here. I set mine up as new and this happened the first night. It hasn't happened since, but it did happen the first night.

I've probably only charged my iPad Pro twice since I got it but no issues for me so far. However, I did a clean setup rather than using iCloud backup in case that is the root cause of the issue.

I don't have a problem so far. I did the clean setup also.

It has occurred every time with mine. It's only when I turn the Pro off and charge. In the morning I have to hold the power and home button at the same time to get it to turn on. If not, it is unresponsive.

This has happened on my new iPhone 6S Plus as well. I woke up in the morning and the phone wouldn't wake at all. I had to hold down the sleep/wake and home button to reset. This has only happened once so far, so not sure if its hardware or software related.

the iphone 6 and 6 plus are the worst built products apple has ever made.... i'm on my 5th iphone 6... first 2 had clicking screens in the lower right corner, third had another kind of clicking and 4th had this freezing problem, took it to store and failed a display and touch id diagnostic... All the 6 and 6 plus display units on my local apple store have clicking or loose screens, I know three people with iphone 6s and they all have different problems, misaligned front camera, clicking screen, backlight issue...

Apple needs to realize that they do have a problem with quality... all the buggy software, the maps thing, icloud bugs, the gpu issues on macs, I've had three macbook pros two of them had gpu issues and the latest one has a noisy fan that they have replaced twice already.

I wish i was surprised about this ipad pro thing... but I'm honestly not surprised...
