Just an update for that care about the watch unlock with Face ID. 15.1 beta 2 has fixed for me. Great result apple fixing it in under a week. Was the only issue with iOS 15 I personally had. Impressive.
I remember on the Samsung Galaxy s9+, Samsung, In just the second year of ownership delayed the android update by 6 months as we weren’t current owners! My goodness the difference in service.

I definitely encountered some touchscreen oddities when setting up and just after restoring my iCloud backup to my new 13 pro. I ran the small system update that was offered at first boot, and haven’t noticed it since.

Last years Pixel phones had this EXACT same issue with Android 11. I remember dealing with this same problem thinking I had a bad phone. I don’t remember if Google ever acknowledged the problem but it eventually got fixed.

I've just updated my iPad to iPadOS 15.1 beta 2 and initial testing would indicate that this resolves the issue as others have mentioned, so although annoying for now it does appear that a fix is on the way.

I don’t think this is an iPhone issue. My wife saw this on her 2018 iPad Pro one day after upgrading to iPadOS 15. A reboot fixed it. I think it’s an iOS and iPadOS issue.

So it's the iOS 15's problem, not the newly released iPhone series?
Does it on my my iPhone 12 pro you know the one now considered a museum piece this year. so I think its just bugs or it could be normal behaviour like the iPad mini jelly scrolling.

Its probably normal behaviour for apple staff too, now letting out untested software with bugs and shoddy hardware.

Don't worry its more intuitive in apples eyes like the plethora of buttons on the iOS 15 FaceTime UI because everyone wants to turn themselves into a toy pig everyday! what's a few more taps on the display because it takes 15 of them to get a youtube video up...

Have you worked out I'm not impressed....

What gripes me is that there is not even an acknowledgement of the issues!

I accept that they would never apologise, but to not even offer some kind of reassurance is very distasteful. People have spent £1,000's on devices whether new or previous versions. In a time when anxiety is at an all-time high due to a number of factors, it would be nice to hear something.

Big corporation never do. Too much hassle and problems admitting to your customers you screwed up. I don't recall Google admitting this very same problem with the Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a 5G phones last year but the problem mysteriously went away after an update. Which update? Only they know and won't say.

Wow, I have never seen so many bugs in an Apple OS/device before. Is the software getting that much more complicated?

Sometimes all my app icons start wiggling out of nowhere as if I want to delete or move them. It seems to happen when I pick up the phone to unlock it.

I’ve had some issues with touch on my iPhone 13 Pro as well. Some of these reports are probably caused by one thing that Apple should really address. When an app is updating, it won’t start and it doesn’t give you a popup telling you that the app is updating. So sometimes when you search for an installed app, you can tap on it all you want, but nothing will happen.

Have experienced a few instances on my 13 Pro Max where I lift device to wake screen, face id unlocks, but cannot swipe up to leave lock screen. Lowering device and raising to try again usually works. It's a rare occurrence for me, but I hope this is addressed with a software update.

iOS 15 just seems to lack any sort of polish this year.

I’ve been encountering this on my 13 Pro Max. Good to see it’s more wide spread and most likely to get addressed unlike some bugs that only effect a small user base and never get addressed.
I think I’ve noticed a trend. The odd number iOS releases have all sucked, then they fix it with even-numbered versions. iOS 11 & 13 were horrible. 12 was pretty good, but 14, while it was much better than 13, but was still mediocre at best.

I have a new iPhone 13 mini running iOS15. I have had issues with iOS15 - FaceID not working, touch sensitivity, and Apps freezing (having to force-quit and relaunch).

My X started doing that every once and awhile after updating to 15.0 as well..
So, your iPhone X did not behave like this before updating to iOS 15.0?
update:apple support contacted me few minutes ago, they said that engineer has noticed this issue, and will release an iOS update to fix it, so stay tune with it.

Alright, I did a bit more testing. If I set the phone face down for more than ~5 minutes or so, then pick it up and tap the screen, nothing happens. I then tap the screen again, and it wakes up after that second tap. This is consistent and I can reproduce it every time. Occasionally, the second (and subsequent) tap does not work at all and I have to use the power button to wake the phone. I have not determined what is different between when it takes “two taps to wake” and “does not wake at all.”

when I set the phone face up, or have it off in my pocket for a similar ~5 minutes, the issue does not present itself and a single tap wakes the display as expected.

I have not determined what causes the issue where the screen wakes up, but I am unable to touch/swipe up to unlock until it sleep and re-wake using the power button. This occurs less frequently and inconsistently.

Can I ask please what device it is you are experiencing this on?

Thanks

No my X had no issues with tap to wake before updating.. Good news on the update because overall iOS15 has been a good update and no difference in battery life compared to 14.8

So you weren't here for iOS 11? It was almost dystopian. iOS 12 was a maintenance update on purpose to give everyone a break.
I was here for all of them, but I had no problems. This is the first release of hardware or software that I've had problems....some real and one was a misunderstanding of what was going on and what to do. I've "been here" for everything iPhone since the 3....before that I was on a Palm Treo...700, 755, 800
