Problem is getting worse for me. Screen unresponsive nearly every time I pick up the phone now… I don’t even have to set it face down any more. If I lock the phone and then immediately try to tap the screen to wake it back up while still holding it, nothing.

considering whether I should return the phone and stick with my 11 for another year :/ have to decide soon before my trade in time limit expires.

Have a trip to Android and Windows land after a "major" update, then you will accepts these little bugs that will be fixed in few weeks/days.
God so tired of the “bring other ppl in so it’s fine “
Must be those who be like “officer others run red light too all I did was speed. U should be happy “

also for a 2 trillion company who only makes is for themselves it actually is not good

Apple's New CEO is here

The iOS 15 experience is turning into a bug festival. I can't remember an iOS release so troubled during the last years. Normally, Apple was a company that used to care for what they released, not anymore it seems. Consistency and reliability, 2 of the biggest advantages they had over the competition appear to have gone into the drain with this release.

I got this issue too, in 2 of my devices. Here's the feedback msg I sent to Apple on it:

iPhone XS Max and iPad Pro 12.9" 2nd gen.

After the update to iOS 15 and then iOS 15.0.1 the pinch gesture became very unreliable. In Safari and other apps you have to pinch in or out many times before the device registers your zoom in or zoom out gestures. This didn't happen in iOS 14 or before. It is happening on both my iPhone and my iPad. On iPad it is even worst, single finger touch gestures sometimes have to be repeated several times for them to be registered.

I thought it was something wrong with the YouTube app as I would search a video, tap the first result and it won’t play.

Also issues with iPhone 13 pro max unlocked with Face ID, but when I swipe up nothing happens.
Yes I have the same issue with the youtube app.

I've had the intermittent touch issues with iOS 15, but I'm also wondering if I could potentially have a hardware issue with my 13 mini as well?

I'm not sure if the screen protector is causing it, but occasionally I don't even have to touch the screen for a tap to register. Should I be concerned about this?

Popping in again with another update…

after updating to 15.0.1, the touch issues were still awful on my 13 mini. Almost every time I picked up the phone it would be unresponsive until I wake/sleep/wake it with the power button, and I was occasionally getting those “phantom touches” that some people here and on reddit have been talking about (stuff on the screen would activate without me touching it at all).

For unrelated reasons, I decided to exchange it for a regular-size 13 and in the four days since I’ve gotten this new phone, I have had zero touch issues. Running pretty much flawlessly and no bugginess as far as my use goes. It’s on 15.0.1 just like my mini was.

Not to draw any conclusions since my sample size is obviously insufficient, but the inconsistency between units definitely gives me iPhone-12-oled-blacks-and-green-tint-issue-which-never-got-fixed-even-though-everyone-was-convinced-it-was-a-software-problem vibes. I hope I’m wrong, but either way I think I’m in the clear with my new phone now. Good luck!

Sorry for quoting my earlier comment, but this worked for me. I have no idea why. But it's worth trying. iOS 15 is a terrible release.
Glad that you found a workaround that worked for you. I can't disable Screen Time on my devices so can't test this. Guess I have to sit and wait for Apple to release a reliable fix, really hope that they do, and not only for the iPhone but for the iPad. This bug has become terribly annoying, it's ridiculous

Whaaaat? Noooo! How can this be possible? On what device have you tested 15.1? My XS Max doesn't offer me the update yet.
Iphone 13 pro max. I installed beta. I’m getting sick of it, it’s 1 month after release and they’ve done nothing.

Just received my iPhone 13 Pro max the days ago, and this issue has been a big disappointment. Can't believe such an expensive phone has this kind of problems.

I was thinking I had a faulty hardware, but it seems I'll have to wait if Apple fixes the issue or at least acknowledges it to be a software problem.

I think I've pinned down the issue, it's the FB app freezing when you maximize a photo. Then, you can't click on the "X" to close it and the app becomes frozen. Does the same happen to you?

iPhone 13 pro max - still having an unresponsive and/or lag screen.

In all seriousness... how do we know we don't have faulty hardware? I'm kind of worried I might be putting the blame on the software when it could really be a hardware/screen issue.

I'm having a similar problem on my iPhone 11 (iOS 15), although it is less frequent/annoying. The iPhone 13 Pro max is running on 15.1

I don't have touch issues but my 13pm gets laggy often when I scroll, even in apple apps

iPad Air 2020 IOS 15.1. Definite touch/swipe responsiveness issues since IOS 15. Seems to take multiple swipes to do anything. Very noticeable swiping up to reveal all open apps and then trying to swipe them away.

It’s sad that this hasn’t improved. I’ve gotten used to it so I almost rarely notice it but I mentally note that sometimes I have to hit things twice that I didn’t need to before. I really hope this gets fixed. But I imagine most people, like me, have just gotten used to it and forgotten.

Since iPadOS 15 I‘ve also the issue that the touch screen reacts with a delay. Seems to be a memory leak or a memory management issue - or by saying directly a bug. The workaround „hard reset“ (home button + Switch off button) solved the issue for the moment. My device: IPad pro 10,5“ 256GB. Hoping that Apple will solve in the next update.
