I don't want to know what happens when somebody finds out the iPhone 4 might have a dead pixel... Mass suicide on MacRumors or something

Nah - that would be a warranty case, I think.

But you see... as opposed to the iPhone 3GS being a perfection of the already existing 3G, the iPhone 4 is an "A+ upgrade" (in other words: a prototype) of which there will be an upgrade within the year (mark my words). No dead pixels, no miscoloration, and the most important for a mobile telecommunication device: no problems with signal reception!!

Furthermore, the next iPhone will have storage of 64 or 128 GB. Oh yes, the nearly 1-year-old iPod Touches have 64 GB and these might be upgraded any time after back-to-school. As micro SD cards can store up to 16 GB, how long do you think it'll take until Apple releases the new iPhone with 2x or even 4x the capacity of today's 32 GB? I imagine SJ will start like this: "Oh, and there is one more thing... we realised that the HD camera in the latest iPhone needs the quadruple size of storage per picture or video clip... (cheering from the crowd) ...and we decided to give this to you."

Then we might se a few people going "an hero" in their buyer's remorse.

Never thought my picture would cause so much of an uproar. Heh.

I promise that there was no doctoring or photoshopping. Just as it appeared out of the box. I'm sure Apple will take care of it as they're able to, just sucks that I live nowhere near an Apple Store.

I Had an issue with a new iPhone. They overnighted me a new one and I returned my bad phone for free in the same box.

My 32GB iPhone 4 screen looks great to my eyes. The only thing I've noticed since activating it a few hours ago is I get less (if any) AT&T service in my office now, especially if I am holding the phone. My 3G had more bars and was actually usable as a phone in my office.

This is typical Apple. Get 'em out as fast as possible with s*** QC. As much of an Apple fan I am, a part of me hopes they get hit hard with a recall one day.

You guys are just a bunch of whiners with poor eyesight and color perception.

I just called my girlfriend and she was not able to see any screen defects on her new iPhone - stop complaining

Why do all these people think they're so smart for waiting a few months to get the phone till the issues are "fixed"? New issues pop up all the time, regardless of when you buy the phone and Apple will give you a new phone if there is indeed a problem. Even if you don't live near an Apple store the mail process is quick and easy. It's not like Apple won't give you replacements for stuff that's their fault.

I'm hardly an Apple fan - I don't own a Mac and don't ever plan to - but their customer service has been great to me since I bought my first iPhone years ago. That's one thing they've always been good with (to me and most people I know anyway).

LCD bleed?

I had this same problem on my iPad. The Genius Bar at my Apple store called it LCD bleed (I.e., hardware not software), said it was pretty normal, and then proceeded to swap out my iPad for me.

yeah, normal for apple. reminds me of my aluminum iMac screens. yes, plural! i've have more iMac screen replacements for me to accurately recall the amount. 6? maybe 7?.

No yellow discoloration on my iPhone 4. No drop in signal when I hold the left side of the phone either. Guess I lucked out.
Still, pretty poor if you ask me.

Count me with the "no yellow, no signal loss when holding in the hand" crowd. Woot!

I gotta say, I never thought my 3GS screen looked fuzzy, but next to the 4 it's an amazing difference.

Beautiful screen, beautiful industrial design, great specs - this new iPhone is a winner.

Hopefully I can keep from scratching up the camera lens. :(

From what I've read, it's a software problem where the iPhone will say it has little or no service but you can still make calls. It's like the signal strength is just being displayed wrong.

In my case, I cannot make calls when it's down to one bar or "searching." Visual voicemail won't connect -- and voice dialing attempts respond with "Voice dialing is unavailable when there is no cellular connection." Funny!

Um, from what I read, bars go down until the call drops, and the user can't make/receive calls. It's kinda hard to believe that there's a bug that displays the signal strength incorrectly just because you're holding it. That's why people are thinking it's not a simple software/display issue.

What issues were there with the 3GS? I have one, and it's a perfection of the preceding one. I never had any issues with it, really. But of course there will be issues with an "A+ upgrade" (SJs own words) like the iPhone 4.

With the 3GS iphone it was more of a tint problem, as in the whole screen looked more yellowish then the 3G screen, which looked much cooler by comparison. The iphone 4 has yellow blotches or blobs , mostly along the bottom edges of the screen. So perhaps this is progress. /sarcasm. Maybe next year the yellow will be completely gone.

lol who buys apple products on launch date???

sukas...dats who.

i'll be waiting til next years version without any problems.

Lol.

K, u wait for it. I had 0 issues with my original iPhone 2G, and its almost 3 years old now.

Wait for it ,when "suckaz" enjoy it :)

Tint problem? Just because the 3GS screen has a different hue doesn't mean it's out of design spec. Different screens (mobile, LCD, whatever) will have different color casts - because one is different than another doesn't make it a flaw. I think people consider "issues" to be the phone having a characteristic not inherent to the intended design. Usually a flaw.

600,000

With all the possible defects in the display (yellow spots) and the antenna (dropping signal when held by the sides) 600,00 iPhones sold on the first day of Pre-order dose not seem like a great feat since some of these iPhones will most likely be returned to Apple.

my display's flawless... and my phone doesn't do that thing in the video posted near the OP...

must not be all of them! whew :).
