Does anyone expect that any product is 100% perfect off the line? I wouldn't be surprised if 5-8% were bad in someway or another. The sky is not falling by any means.

When I start using my iPhone 4, if it's discolored or worse, I'll be disappointed but will I hate on Apple? No. I'll call them up and get it resolved.

No company has 100% perfect line production... Is a yellow or brown spot on my Retina display frustrating, definitely, will it effect the operation of the phone? No, you'll only notice it against whites anyways...

Remember when the iPad was released and everyone thought their screen had a scratch because of the shooting star wallpaper?

iPhone 4 on it's way... Yea!

well, here is the catch. it works always no matter what. don't buy the first Apple product. why? customers would be testers which will find problems soon. I have used Apple products for a long time. unfortunately, so far, there were few macs I bought before had problem. they were the first product in the market. as I said, original iphone had problem when it came out first. iphone 3G (iphone 3Gs) is different story. they learned some problem, and improved. so no problem. iphone 4 has totally different new hardware. it has potentially lots of problem. even Apple can't handle with white iphone because some coating problem. so if you want it, wait for a while until they will fix it. I am not kidding.

Optical Lamination

Might these yellow areas be due to excessive residue or glue left over from from the Optical Lamination process?

They seem all-to-consistently placed to be pixel related.

Crossing my fingers that mine won't have the defect when I pick it up tomorrow.

Wow... I was really excited to pick mine up tomorrow.

I think I'll wait until I goto an Apple store to buy my iPhone instead of Walmart. :(

Wow, I thought I could live with the yellow band while I was at work (must have been the lighting). But after coming home, there is no way I am going to be able to live with it. It looks much worse now (almost like it's glowing radioactive piss).

Do you guys think a software update can fix this problem? Or is it simply a design flaw?

Mine looks perfect

I'm sure 5-10% of new iPhones have a defect of some kind. I'm glad a got a good one. I'm sure Apple will make good on the issues.

My old iPhone had this. Waited a few months until the warrantee was about to expire and then brought it in. Replaced on the spot, new 1 year warrantee (that I needed when another problem developed with the replacement). Good way to get a new shiny one after yours gets all scratched up over time (if we are to believe Engadet).

you do not get a new year warranty. Your old one is in effect and the new device is covered for 90 days as well (assuming you run past your one year warrnaty)

just checked my phone and i got the same thing.. but its not that yellow like the picture.. it just reminds me of the time when the 3G came out and we had the same problem with the yellowish screens.. but hope it goes away!

In what locations are we seeing the screen and antenna issues?
I'm in London, I can only imagine that this is the US market seeing these problems? :(

and it's STILL not much better after exchanging it 10+ times. Apple changed out the screen on a brand new unit out of the box for a screen that was mustard yellow to the point where you could barely read it. They said they could see no problem.:

i'm guessing... and hey, i'm just spitballing here... but after TEN iphones, and a brand new screen that everyone ELSE says is perfect... you still see defects.... is there ANY chance that the problem is YOURS? I'm just sayin... when you're the ONLY person who doesn't think you're an idiot... you're probably wrong.

enjoy your pissed on screen and easily scratched casing =)

good lord... are BLACKBERRY owners on here talking **** now? SERIOUSLY? ouch. just... ouch.

BECAUSE WANTEVER PROBLEMS THEY FIND IN THE BLACK, THEY R GOING TO MAKE SURE THE WHITE DOES'T HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS.

THIS IS TOTAL NONSENSE. YOU ARE LYING TO YOURSELF.

but hey... i get making up stories to justify your actions. it makes your brain hurt less, i'm sure. i'm sure if you try, you could justify just about anything! wow!

I really hope that douche who camped out for a week while got one of those.

that guy camped out on a sidewalk for a week in june in dallas. he's been punished enough, believe me. that's got to be one of the most miserable ideas ever.

i walked outside the other day and it was like the sun punched me in the face.

Don't listen to fanboys who tell you to stop complaining and "deal with it"

Actually, us fanboys are telling him to relax, because he will be able to get it replaced for a brand new phone.

it's like someone who doesn't own and iphone can't understand that we can just get it replaced. like, that easy. hey dude.... WE DON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT. apple does it for us. :)

Warranty replacements will come... eventually! But swapping phones is a PITA: you have to re-synch with your computer.

wow, that is tough. i have to connect my phone to the computer for an hour. good lord, what a pain. ie. wow, you are lazy.

No Worries...

Those are probably the iPhone 4 for the excited ones that are in a hurry to get theirs, lol... or maybe those were the one's they have in stock almost 3 months ago before its launch... hehehe:p

The discoloration is even in the same general part of the screen as the iMac. Amazing. I don't care as much if my iPhone screen isn't perfect though. It's not like I'd be doing high end Photoshop or prepress work on it.

lol who buys apple products on launch date???

sukas...dats who.

i'll be waiting til next years version without any problems.

haha and next year you will wait for the following year, sukas!

A few phones having this problem is not an issue and in a few weeks anyone who has it can exchange for a new one.

Come to papa my new iphone baby! :D:D:D

I have to agree. I really want a new iPhone, but only after the kinks are worked out of it. I am always leery of any .0 version of any tech product, even from Apple.

You read my mind. I'm having VERY serious second thoughts on a new one now. :(

Many people already demonstrated that hand touching the antennas affects reception and not just the bar display. Just look at this video for the proof. The guy shows that when he holds the phone in his hand at best the down/up load speed goes down sharply and at worst the phone is not able to communicate at all.
