Those that have good displays, did you get the phone from Apple or ATT?

If ATT, did it ship from TN or TX?

This will not be good for business.

Weren't the 27 inch imacs going thru the same thing? They best fix this asap. The stock is already tumbling.

Remember the guy who had his finger ripped off for his ipad? I wonder who will be the first to lose their finger (or life) for the iphone 4. It will be a matter of time. Then Steve will proclaim at the next keynote, "We just sold our 5 millionth iphone 4! People will KILL to get their hands on one! We are very happy about that!"

If this defect causes a major recall, Foxconn best break out those suicide nets! Nothing like Chinese qualiity! Cheap, slave like labor and top notch. Not like the US. Apple will never build products on American soil ever again!

I am holding out for the white version.

Let the hysteria begin... Let's see how many "electronic-hypochondriacs" come outta the woodwork.

A legitimate problem

lay off the apple koolaid for a moment

I'll be disappointed tomorrow if my phone has a poop stain like that - it's a NEW phone - I expect it to be in top form

This is a bunch of BS from Apple haters who probably don't even own an iphone (couldn't afford one if they wanted). Same thing as the imac non issue, just haters being haters.

I just knew someone would post something stupid like this.

I was going to say:

"Bring on the people w/ perfect devices who say this nothing more than the rarest of flukes and does NOT indicate a QC problem at Apple requiring a recall or a patch....... that is until the problems continue to escalate and Apple issues a recall or a fix. Then all of a sudden, it become legitimate."

(Yellow tinting on iMacs, iMacs w/ cracked corner screens): Then these jackasses crawl back into their hole and stay quiet to the fact they were wrong.

Look, just because YOUR device is perfect doesn't mean there can't be a mass problem requiring attention.

Congrats! You're the first one. You must feel soooo proud of yourself! Thanks for your empathy... NOT!

I wasn't paying attention to the yellow dots issue... too busy activating/syncing my phone. But once I was done and put iBooks on they were immediately noticeable along the entire lower horizontal edge. Really poor QC if you ask me b/c you don't even have to have a "hawk's eye" to notice it. It just pops out out at you.

Just like my first 4 iMacs. I finally ended up with a Macbook pro because the yellow/brown was on all of the iMacs. All of them.

I have an iMac with brown stripes I need to take in to Apple.
Sad: Now the iPhone Retina displays have macular degeneration?

Well, this kind of discolorations are usually because of extreme heat and are not permanent. I don't think this is a big deal as they might become normal in some time. I had the same issue with my click wheel ipod video. It display always has such problems on summer, or when I leave it in the car.

From the photographs it appears to occur in the bottom right part of the screen. Looking at iFixit's teardown photographs it looks like that is the area where the RADIO chips and sensors are located (the A4 processor and RAM module is located higher). So this would probably mean the radio chip is heating up? Or might the radio waves itself cause the discoloration in the display?
No, you flipped it over in your brain. The battery takes up pretty much the whole right side of the thing, including the bottom right.

Yes stock is tumbling.. a whole 1% today.. after being up $20-$25 since preorders began.

Gimme a break...

This is your "retina" you are seeing in iPhone display.

Can't believe you ppl forgot about it because Apple clearly talked about it during iPhone 4 launch!

Well, that's what you get with cheap parts from China. And Apple's not the only company. The only difference is that with Apple you pay premium price. :D

If...

So I am getting my pre-ordered iPhone 4 from AT&T tommorow, if there is an issue with yellow spotting defect can I have it replaced at an Apple store, or will I have to go through the AT&T store?

My fingers are crossed that wont happen, but if it did, as long as they replace it, I would certainly be okay with holding on to the defective on for a few weeks, as long as I know it will be replaced.

IF there are " wide spread" issues.. I guess I dodged the bullet... my display is clear clean and perfect.

Maybe Steve's response to MyPods and Broomsticks

"You all think you are all so cool because you buy a $500 phone with a fruit on it. Well they cost $8 to make and I pee on every one of them"

+2000000000
I guess the writers of The Simpsons know what they're talking about.

its probably oil mixed with the coating. My 3gs does rainbows things when it hasn't been wiped clean.

Why do I read these things? It's half entertaining; half astonishing...

The screen, IIRC, is a high-end screen from LG. The parts inside are also very high quality. It is assembled in China, but not made using 'cheap parts from China'. As for the competitors, it's a good thing all of their stuff is assembled in the United States. Right? Wait, uh...
