No that's a bug in the OS. The signal is still useable. Apple told Walt Mossberg that. It's in the process of being fixed.

"Yet, in some places where the signal was relatively weak, the iPhone 4 showed no bars, or fewer bars than its predecessor. Apple says that this is a bug it plans to fix, and that it has to do with the way the bars are presented, not the actual ability to make a call. And, in fact, in nearly all of these cases, the iPhone 4 was able to place calls despite the lack of bars."

Thanks for the info but it looks like Youtube is blocked in my office!

Oh jesus, I don't think this should have been posted. I'm sure there were thousands who wouldn't have noticed it if their phones had it, and now you guys ruined it for everyone!

I honestly don't think many would've noticed, but now I'm sure everyone will be looking for the discoloration right out of the box

Also never research a television on avsforum.com. You'll see problems everywhere.

eh, big deal.

this is one of the great things about the iphone.... i know that eventually, i can just drop by the store if i have this problem, and they'll give me a new phone.

no need to worry about a little discolored spot... in a few weeks/months, new phone. easy.

for the iphone at least, there really isn't much danger in being an early adopter.

the scaredy cats on there will say "oh, who gets a first day phone, blah blah"

but hey... i can just go get a new one, whenever the supplies catch up. so i can USE my phone for a couple months, then if the problem is bad, get a brand new one about the same time you're getting your FIRST one.

care to explain why that's a problem? or in any way risky?

lol who buys apple products on launch date???

sukas...dats who.

i'll be waiting til next years version without any problems.

Apple comes out with a new phone every year. Meaning next year's phone will have next year's problems. Sucka.

Great, now every first adopter will be biased into looking for anything that remotely resembles a screen defect, and they'll find one... whether it exists or not.

Thank god I don't work at apple anymore as a genius. Having to deal with people bitching about anything that looks to be discoloration.

Just like my first 4 iMacs. I finally ended up with a Macbook pro because the yellow/brown was on all of the iMacs. All of them.

I bought two 27-inch iMacs when they launched at end of 2009 and both were flawless. I was very relieved. I feel for you on the iMac issue, they are beautiful and wonderful machines otherwise.

i think that Gizmodo guy pee'd on the prototype when he had it and the Foxconn suicide jumper replicated the spots thinking it was a feature,
See if you can wipe them off:eek:

haha not even launch day any already major display problems

Blackberry FTW

Yeah, we could tell you wrote that on a BB. Couldn't even spell and correctly.
Hey, I hear they are releasing an iPhone killing BB. Why don't you go camp out for that one and let us know how much better it is when it comes out hmmkay?

Soylent yellow spot

Don't you all see??? The reason for the yellow spots: the retina display is made out of people!!! It's peeeeeeople!!!

What a crock of ****. I had to deal with this piss yellow issue on the 3GS and it's STILL not much better after exchanging it 10+ times. Apple changed out the screen on a brand new unit out of the box for a screen that was mustard yellow to the point where you could barely read it. They said they could see no problem. BS!

I was hoping with the new "Retina Display" that this problem would have been rectified. I guess not. I will NOT put up with this **** again. Not going to happen. Apple needs to fix this crap now!

If it's an isolated thing, ok. However it does not seem like it. It seems to be another damn good screen/bad screen lottery again.

****ing ********!

This is a bunch of BS from Apple haters who probably don't even own an iphone (couldn't afford one if they wanted). Same thing as the imac non issue, just haters being haters.

You have NO idea what you're blathering about. I HAVE a yellow iMac. Its my second. I've YET to see one that isn't affected. I'm no Apple hater - I LIKE Apple, but I'd LOVE them if their products were made correctly.
