Really? My HTC One M8 is primarily aluminum and I keep it in my pockets all the time without any bending, and I have had it since release day 6 months ago.
Six months from now there will be iPhone 6 users who have had no problems with bending.

For those whose phone is bent, that is cold comfort.

I see rumors of flexible phones coming from Samsung. It's likely that Apple and other manufacturers are working on this, too.

Damn... I had hoped that the half-cylinder shape of the sides would make it more resistant to bending.

I like to keep my iPhone in my back pocket, and my 3 years old 4S did not suffer at all from sitting on it repeatedly over the years without caring.

I was actually wary of getting a 5/5S because of this but hoped that the shape of the 6 would prevent this. I guess though it's the 6 Plus that's more prone to do this (I'm getting a 6).

I guess I'll have to be much more careful with my 6 and avoid sitting on it! :(

If you made some money in Europe, would you bring it home and pay huge amount of taxes, or would you keep it abroad for when you build that next store or pay foreign suppliers?

We agree. My comment was a joke...

If I were running a huge company like Apple, I would likely not run it in the US. WAY WAY WAY too many taxes. And the last state I would run it would be the peoples republic of California, and the last city would likely be San Fran. Just too much government involvement and regulation that destroys businesses all in the name of politicians power to spend money with no recourse.

Sorry Apple but my phone has been sitting in my pocket for like 15 years. That's not about to change. I think I'm just going to not get an iPhone 6. I'll probably just hang onto my 5 and 5s and I'm looking into a Sony Z3c whenever it manages to make our shores here in the US. There's just so many things off about this iPhone release it's starting to smell bad.

Sad because I was just so thrilled with my 5s, my first iOS device ever. And I really like iOS! I thought I'd become an Apple devotee for life! Oh how the mighty have fallen and all that. bleh.

I would never store a 5.5" phone in my pants, that's just asking for issues given how thin it is. Even I'm afraid my iPod touch 5G will bend.

This is only a problem for people that are not used to having 5.5" or bigger in their pants :)

fat people everywhere or people with skinny jeans, please don't purchase the iPhone 6 Plus... Buy a Samsung phone made of plastic that can flex...

:nuff said:

This sounds like the statement from a true unintelligent derelict.

This is quite a serious problem. I wonder if apple didn't anticipate this, or they didn't come across this issue during their quality assurance testing. I wonder if were going to hear something from them regarding this.
Phones are designed to bend a little bit but should go back to how they were orignaly bent to. Keyboards also bend - try it with a keyboard (don't be too harsh.
If they don't bend they will snap. I know this is off topic but I was on a ship recently and it was twisting like mad - I was sat next to a boat designer and he was saying that boats twist or otherwise it would snap from the external force.
I know apple would have tested the torque of the device but maybe they were not expecting it to not to twist back after a long time being twisted. if its limited to a batch we wont hear much from apple apart from a recall as these can be dangours because of the batteries snapping but if it affects all the products expect Tim to call a emergency event!

I am worried myself, especially after having seen a similarly bent iPad Air shortly after release in a German electronics store.

At the time I thought the size of the iPad was the issue (in connection with the thinness of the Air) but now I am not so sure anymore.

I think this IS a design flaw and could be a major issue for people (and Apple). I carry my iPhone 4S in my front jeans pocket all the time and you simply won't always remember to take it out before sitting down.

Thank you! If it fits in a front pocket, I shouldn't have to take it out...Even if the top of the jeans pocket is putting 'some' pressure on either side of the phone. As for the REAR pocket, I would never sit with the screen of my 4S facing outward on purpose. I usually put screen side-in. That said, because it isn't water proof, if I'm out dancing I'll keep screen side out while standing so the moisture doesn't go through the jean to the glass side...if you're saying I now can't put my phone (not sure if the 6+ would even fit in my jeans pocket (I'm very tall)) in any jeans pocket otherwise it'll bend, that's a crummy phone and I wouldn't buy it.

I know a lot of people like to show off their iphone naked, but it is getting to the point, where doing that could come at a high cost.

I have always used the phone naked because prior to the iPhone 6, the industrial design was far better than any other manufacturer. So showing it off was a good feeling, especially since I'm a designer.

I also had an iPhone 5 that bent from front pocket use. It's because of the super thin aluminum, lacking a rigid glass back, as in the iPhone 4 series.

Now that the iPhone 6 design is rather me-too than breakthrough, I might need to resort to a case of I get a 6. (I just paid nearly $300 to replace the bent iPhone 5.)

I agree. Who walks around with a gigantic smartphone in his front pocket at a wedding and even dances with it? Who doesn't take it out when driving / sitting by the table?

um. Like no one takes their phone out of their pocket every time they sit down. That's absurd dude.

what? a few people have bent their iPhone and you say the above? come on, you say you are thrilled with your 5s but there are reports of users bending that version. Yours didn't. so why do you expect the 6 to bend? step away from the hype train my friend, until there are thousands of reports of bending its a non issue :)

Tight pant + fat person + thin aluminium phone = bended phone

Considering the different layers of materials there are in the phone (glass, logic board, battery, aluminum casing) its quite impressive that someone has achived to bend it without noticing. You must be extremly careless person to keep your phone in your pocket while there is obviously a great deal of preasure going on over the body of the phone. Im tired of this deep-**** trolling campaign that some other manufturers are developing every time a new iPhone comes out. Every time, there is some "big" issue coming out, which at the end result in not so big, and in fact, a quite common issue for every other phone. Big deal, the aluminium bends and the water is wet. If I put an iPad mini in my pocket, Ill bend it for sure, so what? Is there a bending issue with the iPad. No, there isnt. Dumb people bitching Apple forever...im ****ing sick of this.

People who insist on showing off their iphone naked as it's "disrespectful to Jony's designs" if they put a case on it deserve to have their phone bent, scratched, screen shattered, etc. Seriously. Apple tells you to put a case on it. Put a case on it. Tend to your personal Jony Ive shrine in other ways.

I expect that from a Samsung device not an Apple one!

I'm going to call user-error on this. Give a 6" inch phone to millions of people who have never had a device that large, and of course they are going to use it just like their previous devices.

People will learn, some harder than others, that you don't handle a device with a large display the same way you do one with a smaller footprint.
