Some iPhone 6 Plus Owners Accidentally Bending Their iPhones in Pockets

To prevent bending, iPhone 6 Plus owners may want to remove their iPhones from their pockets before sitting or bending.

Or they could just remove their pants and let them drop to their ankles while seated.

Just like antenna gate, they will fix it with a software update.

No, antenna-gate was solved by:
1. providing free rubber bumpers.
2. redesigning the successor to have an extra cellular antenna running in diversity mode so that even if one antenna was compromised, the second could operate as normal.

I have always used the phone naked because prior to the iPhone 6, the industrial design was far better than any other manufacturer. So showing it off was a good feeling, especially since I'm a designer.

I also had an iPhone 5 that bent from front pocket use. It's because of the super thin aluminum, lacking a rigid glass back, as in the iPhone 4 series.

Now that the iPhone 6 design is rather me-too than breakthrough, I might need to resort to a case of I get a 6. (I just paid nearly $300 to replace the bent iPhone 5.)

I have an Otterbox Defender case on my iPhone 5. And it fits well in my front jeans pocket. It would not be practical to put a iPhone 6+ in the front jeans pocket. I think that that would be asking for trouble for the device.

I think a lot more consideration needs to be made by those who are getting the iPhone 6 and 6+, especially if one is interested in longevity.

Reminds me of the time Steve pulled the iPod nano out of his jeans pocket to announce it. Clever trick.

The iPhone 6 is simply too big to fit in your pocket. I would only ever put it in a jacket pocket which therein lies the problem. I don't always want to carry a coat or bag with me. That's why I'm really hoping the Apple Watch will work as an iPhone replacement for when you need a phone but don't need the big screen.

gotta be some really tight pants in order to bend the ip5/5s though.

No - I had done this to my original iPhone5 - by wearing it without a case ... in my back pocket - and sitting on it.

It is possible to bend that device by being an idiot like I was - but then I dropped it on a bike ride and got it replaced at an Apple Store.

Lesson to the foolish: Don't put your iPhone in your back pocket and sit on it. It will bend.

Instead of the front pocket of his suit pants, he should've put it in an inside suit coat pocket (if he had one).

Not to mention that he's not doing his testicles any favors by keeping a cell phone next to them.

Your point relates to something I had been wondering about; how well does the 6-plus fit in the inside breast pocket of a suit coat? Does it look fine with a trim, stylish suit coat, such as the type one would wear in the boardroom? Is it noticeable at all to others?

As one with a plus on order, I´m starting to wonder how I´m going to carry this thing around. I´m still on my iPhone 4, so this will taking some getting used to.
I hope I can still carry my phone in my jeans pocket

Why make em so thin? Pointless! feels cheap and weird.
Make it thicker next time. No one wants a paper phone.

Usefull Tests

Instead of all the useless tests the YouTube crowd are doing on the 6 and 6+ (will it blend, dunking it in liquid nitrogen and shattering it with a sledge hammer, etc) , I would like to see a useful test such as supporting the phone on the ends and seeing how much force it takes to bend the phone beyond its recovery point.

Stainless Steel perhaps. I simply think these phones are just way too big for aluminum to hold up under pressure when you sit on it.

I forgot to mention. I always put mine in my front pocket. Always.

If you're a guy, you put it in your coat pocket. In summer or at the beach, put it in cargo shorts. No tight jeans for you, sorry.

Women get to put it in their purses.

"You're wearing the wrong clothes" is an even lamer excuse than the holding it wrong one.

You did watch the Apple Watch announcement, right? It only works WITH an iPhone for calls and messages, not alone or with anything else.
