No, not common sense. Everyone carries a phone in a front pocket (unless you have a purse). Apple makes a larger phone and we're now supposed to know not to put it in the front pocket? Granted, you wouldn't put it in your back pocket and sit down, but i've never done that with any phone so i would't do it with a iphone 6.

What i would expect is Apple to stop taking the p***s with its products and have know this. $1000 for an iphone, and this is the design flaw we get??!

Please stop whining!! There's a small group of drama queens in here that's driving me insane. Good god, what the hell. BTW, I cracked the back of my 3GS eventually by sitting on it repeatedly. OMG, the universe just ended there and then. I also know a few other people who cracked their plastic Android phones; so please stop the shrill hysteria dear group of dancing trolls.

whiners

We're a society of whiners. We want a thin phone but we'll whine when it bends when we sit on it. We wait for days in line to be the absolute first people to get new technology and then we whine when there are bugs. We want a huge screen and then whine when we can't reach the far corner with our thumbs.

#Microgate

Developing news story.

We've just learned that the iPhone 6 and 6+ might not be microwaveable. A small but growing number of people have reportedly fried their brand-new iPhones just days after the launch, when putting them in a microwave oven for only a couple of minutes.

The iPhone 6 and 6+ are hardly the first Apple products with these problems. We saw the same hysteria over microwaved iPhone 5 units and later, the 5s. And in fact, the iPod touch has had a similar problem. And Apple isn’t the only one.

While it’s absolutely possible that the thinner, larger iPhone 6 and 6+ may be prone to microwaving, all we’ve seen so far are early reports from a few people. We’ve reached out to Apple to see if they have anything to say, and we’ll get back to you when we know more.

Apple could easily spin this into a positive if they add additional internal bracing when the 6S and 6S+ models are released. They could tell everyone that the new iPhones are stronger and now pocket carrying won't be an issue. Everyone with a bent 6 or 6+ will upgrade early and ones that have been too afraid to carry their 6 or 6+ in their pocket will upgrade for the improved S "Sheep" model... Millions sold and billions in profit!

I fixed that for you;)

The iPod touch 5th gen is actually a pretty similar design, and nothing ever came of similar accusations of "accidental" bending (I'm at almost 2 years and bend-free here.)

Well it's the user's fault. It's not a piece of solid steel, it's a smart phone made out of aluminum and glass. You buy the biggest god damn phone on the planet, and then proceed to put it in your tightest jean pants and start sitting everywhere. What do you expect will happen?

I will take a metal and glass built smartphone than a plastic one. I'm not idiotic enough to slap it on my back pocket and sit on it. This is a sophisticated piece of technology, and if you treat it like a piece of plastic, like a back pocket comb from the 70's, then yeah it will break or bend when you sit on it. Go sit on your Laptop, Flat screen TV, Tablet...see how that holds up. :p
You really should read that article again cause these people had their phones in their front pocket, not in their back pocket.

Well you can do it with every other similar sized phone without any problem.

Apple can't change the design now though can they? That's just the same as admitting your 10m+ units already shipped are faulty lol.

Ive and Cook will be burning the midnight oil over this one!!!!

We should run a poll for predicting Apple's response:

1) You are bending it wrong
2) Everyone else's phone bends when pushed hard enough
3) free i-pants for everyone!
4) ????

So what if it's a little bent? Does it stop working? This will probably make it more comfortable in my hand! Stop the whining already!

So much about "premium" aluminium vs. "cheap" "plastic" LOL...

Metals react differently than plastic. Big surprise. Wow, you just found that out and told the world!! You must be a hero of science!!! (sic)

Metal presses actually act the exact same way as what happens when you sit a long time on your phone. With not so surprising results. So, what IS your point. Then could use thin steel and you'd still get a bend if you sit on it long enough with enough pressure.

Most plastics would would crack, instead of bend, eventually under the same pressure BTW.

Design flaw? Sorry junior, but anyone familiar with aluminum knows a large applied force will impose the stress/strain curve to failure.

In lamens terms, walking on sheet metal buckles. Imagine planting your rump on it and applying the Force of your body on it.

The lack of basic science background in America and beyond is beyond comical.

Will there ever be iPhone released without any issue? I think the last iPhone with no issue was iPhone 3GS (..or atleast i don't recall any issue with it)

Does anyone have any idea of Samsung note (any version) bending ?
There already is.... People complain about a phone that bends when un-natural forces are applied to it? Ummmmmm common sense isn't very common I guess.

Glass doesn't sit well when prestressed.
Actually I'll go farther here and say that if the frame is at all warped or bent, a fractured display isn't going to be far behind.

I'd stay clear from this iteration of the iPhone which is a shame as I think the drive for thinner phones isn't fundamentally a bad idea.

What's the point of an ultra thin phone if you have to put it in a MIL-STD case?

It is estimated that 90% of iPhones in the field use cases. It makes it more personal. I would not be surprised if the old "most beautiful and vilnerable when naked" mindset went into the most recent iPhone designs.
