Who asked for a thinner iPhone anyway? Why does Apple have this obsession with pursuing the thinnest possible phone, even if it means a ridiculous protruding camera lens and a propensity to bend?

What happened to the drive to build the best possible product instead of just the thinnest/lightest?

Just so you know, currently his channel has 1,120,688 subscribers, and the video will be reposted again, and the video is posted as a FEATURE story on 9to5mac:

http://9to5mac.com/2014/09/23/apple-iphone-6-plus-bend-test-video/

So whilst the 9to5mac staff believe him, you refuse to, and I have no idea how many visitors 9to5mac get.. but all of a sudden your defence of he's a nobody so he must be faking it is suddenly collapsing. Have a good day.

I don't "refuse" anything, except to be talked down to by some supercillious know-it-all person on a forum. It's not what you say, it's your tone. You must like stuffing words into peoples' mouths... I bid you a jolly good day, and take care - you have no further purpose to interact with me - I'm not losing my peace over you :)

Sounds to me like you keep buying iPhones?

I haven't had any of the problems you speak of and I have had every model since the first iPhone.

Using your theory in my experience, would mean all iPhones are incredible because I've had none of the issues you have spoke of.

Oh, and of course all the millions of iPhones sold every year is just a bunch of bad engineered phones!

Wow.....

As I said, they are 'known Apple issues' as in issues and faults Apple acknowledged as existing in it's devices. If it was just my devices so be it, but they weren't just my experiences.

I was initially considering the plus because of the OIS and resolution, but had changed my mind after seeing camera comparisons that show a minimal difference in the pictures both produce. Now this bending too? I'm glad I didn't preorder.

Now everyone together now! A one, a one and a two....

I thought people wanted curved screens! Apple is acceding to the DIY people! Make the curve the radius you desire!

I don't even care about the poxy "bend gate" hysteria, it's a hyped up crap storm that noone cares about outside a VERY VERY VERY small minority of clued-up phone geeks on forums like this.

And you don't like my tone! I think you need to go and calm down sir, considering I proved as a fact Lewis isn't a nobody, as you claimed he was. I'm not a know it all, just presenting facts, which you obviously do not like or want to ignore and claim I am 'stuffing words into your mouth'!

Actually, polycarbonate will flex then break... If someone tries to bend an S5 it will bend and break...

How about looking up how many phablets from other manufacturers have this issue... #notnew

If I bend a crowbar it will also break!!

Don't get worked up, it's not worth it :)

All my iphones have had to be fixed as well.
Apple seems no better or (worse) a manufacturer than any other of the main players tbh.

The level of i-rage on this forum to those openly discussing apple with anything less than divine worship is hilarious

I'm sure he's a nice bloke and very well respected, but the majority of planet earth won't have heard of him, regardless of how much YOUR lense upon the world is tinted with shades of YouTube channels - take the perspective of a random person in the street, WORLDWIDE... "Who? Unbox-whatty?"

I don't even care about the poxy "bend gate" hysteria, it's a hyped up crap storm that noone cares about outside a VERY VERY VERY small minority of clued-up phone geeks on forums like this. My point is CLEAR, to ears willing to listen - noone explains HOW he bent his phone INITIALLY, before he re-bent it on video. Noone knows... and to be frank, I care not a bit.

I'm off - this is a losing thread.

We saw the video - no need to post it again. Still a load of speculation. Wake up man.

Bend an iPhone 4 with your hands.put little extender on it so it the same length as an iPhone 6 and bend it!

So it's a design defect: there is too little aloominium reenforcing the region of the inset volume buttons. For proper durability, it's likely all parts of the case require thicker aluminium, and the back should be curved similarly to the HTC One M8 to add stiffness. The M8 isn't made that way for style, it's for durability and hand feel.

This will be worse for Apple than the 4's antenna problems. Expect Cook et. al. to be s***ting their beds within a few days.

This thin/light obsession of Ive's is going too far. It's bad enough when his anorexia results in hard-to-reach ports on an iMac, but now he's ruined the durability of Apple's flagship device, the design of which was virtually indestructable only a few years ago.

It may be time for Ive to retire. He seems incapable of striking the proper balance between engineering, functionality, and industrial design.

The m8 is a full 32% thicker, that is the difference. And that is not necessarily a good thing.

Mwahahaha!!

I knew this would happen, you cannot make a phone THAT big, THAT thin

its not like it has a Titanium chassis for Xrists sake.

That's only if this is actually true. It's all hearsay. I'll believe it if someone reputable can duplicate it. No, using your hands to bend it is not the same thing. You can probably bend most phones if you force it enough.

Can't argue with this. But, if true, Apple will take a huge hit, IMO, by becoming the butt of many jokes. I think it would be a costly embarrassment.

Uh common sense?

No, not common sense. Everyone carries a phone in a front pocket (unless you have a purse). Apple makes a larger phone and we're now supposed to know not to put it in the front pocket? Granted, you wouldn't put it in your back pocket and sit down, but i've never done that with any phone so i would't do it with a iphone 6.

What i would expect is Apple to stop taking the p***s with its products and have know this. $1000 for an iphone, and this is the design flaw we get??!

Um well at least everyone is debating the merits and demerits of bendable aluminum here. At Appleinsider people are wondering how to open up their iphone to make sure there's not a Samsung chip in there ... :D

I know this BENT issue would crop up and boomerang back, its TOO BIG, and TOO THIN

The IBend 6 Plus (plus for more bending)

Short memory.

People have been saying that every time a problem comes up with the new model of iPhone.
