You know what is unbelievable?

How people find it acceptable that a phone bends when in the pocket of someone sat in a car. I always put my phone in my pocket when in the car, in fact, I've just got in from a 45 minute drive and my iPhone 5 was in my jeans front pocket.

Lets face it, we are the minority. We, the people who post and discuss this kind of thing on a forum like this. How many of those 10,000,000 iPhone 6 & 6+ owners are even aware that this is happening? That's the scary thing.

I honestly think that if a customer went to Apple or their retailer in the UK and under the Sales of Goods Act disputed the phone is not fit for purpose and is not of satisfactory quality, they'd probably be right. It clearly isn't fit for purpose, if it can not be pocketed.
So out of the 10 million sold, mine included, if it's TRUELY a desingn flaw you should expect what...... 50% bend rate? 10%? People were bending their 5 and 5s yet that never turned into a major problem except here on MR....... My 9 year old daughter managed to not bend a 5 she's been using for over a year yet others here on MR couldn't get through a week without bending theirs..... So is it really a "design flaw" or users being irresponsible with their $800 device?

As far as "can't be pocketed"..... I've been pocketing my 6+ daily sense I got it last Friday....... Working, driving, even ran down the street with it in my pocket and guess what? Yep, no bending. Wife has been pocketing her iPhones sense they came out including the 6..... Never bent one and she is a 32 year old woman that wears her shorts on the tight side. How is it two (4 if you want to add my 9 and 11 year old kids) normal, typical humans can manage to use their phones daily for years without bending them yet others can't go a week? Again is it a flaw in the design or users being irresponsible? I go with the latter.

Not saying I don’t believe you but some good pics would be great.

OK, I really really wish I had taken photo's now. I took it in to the Apple store, and it got replaced. It was a really thin crack all along the screen from the bottom volume button, almost straight across to the other side. You could feel it and see it very obviously, especially over white background. But there was no 'smashed glass' effect like you normally see. Just 1 clean sharp horizontal crack

I don't know what to call it. I don't have an iPhone 6 yet, I can't upgrade until December and I was eyeing up the 6+ but this is kinda off putting. I will probably still get one though.

I am just playing devils advocate here, like I said, I carry my iPhone 5 in my pocket when in the car and it's not bent at all. I've had it nearly 20 months or so.

The job I do includes dealing with cases and claims against the Sales of Goods Act. I'm just saying that if someone claimed against a retailer that it wasn't fit for purpose or of satisfactory quality (in the first 6 months) they would probably get the phone changed. After 6 months, it's a different story.

If putting my phone in my pocket whilst driving is being irresponsible, then I don't know what to think! I'm with you though, I hope it's users being irresponsible and there is more than meets the eye here.

If this is true ( and I don't say it is not, I just cannot verify ) Apple confirmed by this action that there are serious issues.

What a bad move, to shift responsibility of a bad engineered product to the customers. Let Jonny Ive design the products, but never construct them. Construction should be the responsibility of engineers and they should have a vote to reject bad designs.

Thats so full of FUD and crud... Do you even know what the hell you are typing or is this weird ass sarcasm...

Usually I'm good at picking up sarcasm, so I'll go for FUD and crud. So, are Apple and Aliens in a partnership to rule the world now in your fantasy distopia.

Good grief. The things I hear here is beyond belief.

well it really depends on what that person is wearing. Very tight pants and they put strain on the phone sure that's the user making a poor choice. I wear clothes that fit my body and haven't had a problem...... Obviously you do too and haven't had a problem. Ideally you'd be able to drop an anvil on the phone and it should come out without a scratch but people want thin...... Give and take. I believe through normal use the majority of iPhone users shouldn't and don't have bending issues but there is always going to be those that insist all they did was put their phone on the table the night before they slept and woke up to a bent phone.

Interesting that they replaced unit as an exception.

I mean we can't really expect them to address it right away. Imagine having a recall on 5 Million+ phones..

They will NEVER recall a phone for a NON PROBLEM. Got that buddy. Seriously, its like a horror show in here and not in a good way. Its like reading some political news site like Fox or Msnbc, but with Android and Apple replacing the GOP versus Democrat insanity.

Also, if you’re going to start ripping on people. Get your spelling correct. Might make you look like an ass otherwise. I mean what the hell is distopia?

Wow, that attachment was enlightening and definitive proof that this problem exists for all new iPhones possibly.

Cnet reached out to Apple and they declined to comment so I'm guessing the issue will have to get 100 times worse before they say anything. I suppose at this point if it's selling really well it's probably better from a business standpoint to keep quiet and see what happens. If they know it could be an issue changing the warranty could save them tons of money.

http://www.cnet.com/news/will-it-bend-iphone-6-takes-a-turn-for-the-worse/

Or maybe, there is no fracking issue and people are idiots. I guess Apple could put their phones in a vise with a gauge measuring pressure and prove it takes a vsubstantial amount of force to bend the phones just to convince people. But, some would undoubtably call this fake, even if those same people will believe a random video on youtube and a few twitter posts. Oh, 20% of people think the moon landing was also fake, so hey...

A $700+ phone should not bend when put in pocket! this is horrible...I am apple fanboy all the way but this is unjustifiable. It's amazing how some of you are still trying to defend apple.

Also this doesn't look like a few cases but pretty widespread problem.

What an embarrassment.

Wow, spelling, is that all you got. Considering you are wrong on everything else... I guess so.

Some iPhone 6 Plus Owners Accidentally Bending Their iPhones in Pockets

Watch out we've got a big bad huffing puffing keyboard warrior hahahahaha

Ok man why would I make this up?

I didn't take a photo because I actually didn't realise that this bending was an issue until today, AFTER it was replaced.

I thought my phone had somehow cracked without a fall whilst I was driving. Maybe I'd dropped something on it? But there was no impact point or 'spidered' break point like normal broken screens. I was upset though, I had AppleCare + and just assumed I would be paying for my 'accidental damage' fee. It was when the guy at the store checked to see if it was bent that I saw how bent it was, emphasised at that exact point.

So I didn't take a photo though for 2 reasons.

1) I didn't even know about the bending iPhones. I just thought I was unlucky (and a little embarrassed to have like the first cracked iPhone 6 in the world). Even though I was so confused as to how it happened. I used it, put it in my pocket, and drove. got out. Cracked. I thought I was going crazy. Oh well, to the Apple Store

2) By the time I realised my phone was BENT when the Apple employee showed me I had already given Apple my iPhone 6, which is what I would have taken a photo with! I actually reached in to my pocket and then realised the irony.

So sorry for not being able to help with photos.

Don't get me wrong. The iPhone 6 is a beautiful device and extremely fun to own.

I love my new one as much as the old. It is the most excited I have been about a phone since the 4.

BUT THE FACT THIS WAS NOT ISOLATED MEANS YOU MUST TAKE CARE OF YOUR PHONES. THERE IS A PROBLEM.

They are fragile. It is an issue I hope Apple addresses with some kind of secure bumper or something like the iPhone 4s. It is definitely a design problem for a device which is otherwise beautifully designed.

I only made this account after seeing reports of others getting it too, so wanted to warn people before they crack their screens too! (admittedly it seems I am one of the very very few who have actually obtained a hairline fracture)

Good luck.

SEE MY ORIGINAL POST FOR A PICTURE THAT DETAILS MY TRADING IT IN AT THE APPLE STORE 'AS AN EXCEPTION' THOUGH - I have that much 'proof'. I don't get why he thinks I am making this up..? trolls I guess haha

Did you have to pay the Apple Care excess fee or did they simply replace the phone?

I'd argue if iPhones are being replaced in the First 6 months under the sale of goods act and not after the first six months there is a fault and they should be replaced. Of course I'm in the uk so understand what you wrote. Do you see what I'm sauing? The burdon of proof is on me the consumer after 6 months but the previous roplacements prove there is a fault. Just I would argue I hadn't used my phone as much so the fault took longer to appear.
