Apple can't fix stupidity. Sit on a phone long enough, any phone will bend.
Sitting on it, yes. But if it can't handle being in your front pocket when you sit, then there's a problem. It's completely impractical to tell people they can't pocket their phones except when standing. That would bring "You're holding it wrong" to a whole new level of hilarity.

They just showed the bending issue on CBS This Morning ironically it was just after they featured a story about it fetching thousands of dollars on the black market. :)

Please provide a clear breakdown of this being "irony". Thanks.

There is such a thing as too thin. We have officially reached that threshold. What is Apple's obsession with thinner? I would rather have more battery life and a more rigid phone, personally.

People want thinner and lighter (myself included). When I held the iPhone 6 Plus for the first time, I was like wow I can't believe how thin and light this is. It's an incredible experience to hold the device for the first time. Apple is focused on the things consumers appreciate.

have you seen how it fits in those front pockets? It doesn't. Not really. You shouldn't need apple to tell you that. The back pocket. You shouldn't need apple to tell you not to sit on it.

The forums are full of posts from people like me saying its a nice phone but where will I put it. And that was before it was released. Why are others trying to cram it into a small space?

Apple is a little late to the big, thin market. The only reason you find it amazing is that you don't ever look outside of The Field. What's noteworthy about the 6+ is that in 2014 it has really thick bezels and the whole phone is much too large for sporting only a 5.5" screen.

I carried a Note 3 in my front pocket for 6 months, it was never an issue. It actually worked out better than my iPhone 5 did because the iPhone would turn sideways, while the wider Note 3 would stay vertical. It's not like we're talking about pocketing an iPad Mini or something, LOL.

Putting a large screened phone in the front pocket of tight fitting jeans is already a fail.

iphone 6+ will not fit in my levis and in my adidas tracksuit bottoms I'd look a dick with that huge slab swinging around and the outline.

Steve Jobs was right when he said no one would buy a bigger phone/a phablet. What he didn't say was because you'll look a total **** with it sticking out of your pocket. He knew this. What he underestimated is how people don’t mind looking stupid and uncool.

If you wear a suit or some type of jacket I'm sure you can fit it fine, but jeans, shorts or tracksuit bottoms nah

I was using the HTC one m8 before I ordered a 6 plus. Beautiful design, a tad heavy for the size. But love the aluminum. It's Deffinetly heavier than the 6 plus doing the holding in each hand test.

I agree. The iphone6 feels better than the m8. Its a trade-off in sturdiness though.

I have to admit, I initially dismissed these reports as it seems obvious to me that if you carry something as big as the iPhone 6+ around in tight pockets that the stress could make it bend.

However I just checked my normal iPhone 6 - its hardly been in my pocket as I've not been out much since I got it and I don't wear tight jeans either - and mine too has a very slight bend/warping.

Its very hard to capture but you can see the rocking caused by the bend in this video:

And I tried to capture it in this picture:

Device hasn't been out of the case since I got it either.

Maybe there is something to this? Seems crazy that you can't even carry it in your pocket without bending it.

That is something to be concerned about as the 6 is definitely something people will carry easier in their front pockets. Maybe like I said before Foxcon tried to cut corners or maybe someone programed the cutting machine incorrectly and the cut is thinner than it should be? who knows.

S model usually fixes any problems :( but I was looking forward to buying the 6

Confirmation from Apple (PENDING)

I called Apple today since I have an iPhone 6 Plus on order. I asked if they could point me to a policy that would spell out their position on AppleCare response to a bent phone. My call was forwarded to AppleCare representatives and they currently do not have a formal response yet, but are aware of the concern but haven't confirmed the problem themselves but are working on a response. They suggested I call back this afternoon at which time they should have a reply.

I will keep you informed of what I find out. I was clear that without confirmation of a replacement at no cost to me without any caveats about where and how I store my phone I would be canceling my order and replace it with the iPhone 6 model.

I agree should be interesting, tonight will be the first time trying the 6 plus in the gym. I wear the same kinda pants all the time. Those Nike swishy pants. Never had a problem with my HTC one m8. Although the 6 plus is a tad bigger it's lighter. Curious how it will go. I'm about 6'1 for reference.

I always used my M8 naked, but might get a case for the iPhone with all this bending talk. I have even knocked my m8 with a weight against my leg a few times with no damage. It's very sturdy.

iComedy Club

Maybe the iPhone wants to become a flip phone? :p
Or maybe the iPhone is really a flip phone trapped inside an iPhone? :p

Perhaps Apple should consult David Beckham on a bendable iPhone?:p

Now if Apple did release a bendable or flexable iPhone, they could have an ad that goes "Get bent.... Samsung!" :D:p
They could use the song Bend Me, Shape Me by 1960's rock band The American Breed. This would also keep in line with Apple using dinosaur rock bands such as U2. :(:p

They could call the phone the iPhone Flex and iPhone Flex Plus. No doubt some people will shorten that down to iFlex as they did with the iPod Touch ergo iTouch. :p
iFlex will be popular at gyms, amongst the posers.:p

:apple::D:p:cool::apple:

If this is really this big of an issue, it's certainly disappointing, and I'm glad I'm on the S cycle so I don't have to make a decision until next year. I've always thought my 5 and subsequent 5S could bend if under enough pressure in my pocket, though.

I really hope stuff like this, and the extremely bizarre iOS 8 bug I had yesterday don't just become commonplace, because I really would not want to switch to another platform at this point.
