I’m disgusted with my fellow Apple fans who are attacking the messenger.

Please use common sense here.

The messenger who posted a clickbait video with his hands on his temples and a scowl, claiming “The iPhone XS Has a Serious Problem” when, over the course of the thread it’s become clear it’s an iOS 12 issue not dependent on hardware? Seems like common sense has prevailed, despite the attempts of a YouTube clickbait poster with no real data.

Does anyone even pay attention to these updates anymore? I didn't even hear this phone came out. Maybe I'm hanging out with different people now.

Seriously glad I've been using Samsung phones exclusively since BlackBerry days.
Uhhh that's even worse. I hope you at least don't have the ones that come with Facebook preinstalled and undeletable. Google's phones are kinda the only option if you want Android, unless you just want a really cheap phone.

Neither is this an unfinished product nor a beta. Technology has bugs, even if it costs a lot you cannot possibly predict the behavior of a gadget on such a larger scale use. Plus, millions of iPhones are sold in weeks (on launch) so it is inevitable that some issues surface however they get blown more out of propotion just because the press and YouTubers get more clicks/views with thumbnails and captions that are against Apple even if a few hundred out of millions are facing it. Plus, Apple cares and has a 14 day replacement and an exchange policy if you face any issues which is highly rare. To top it all most of these issues like the WiFi/LTE reception issue, beauty mode issue and charging problem will be solved in the next software update. Last year a lot of people called the screen unresponsiveness in iPhone X a hardware issue and it turned out Apple fixed in within the second week of announcement. Remember?
It’s called sarcasm. You can relax now

Could they find a more obnoxious person anywhere? Talk about mountain climbing over molehills. It barely qualifies as a problem. Will be fixed soon, now shut up.

Still very hesitant on whether to upgrade to the new iPhone XS, specifically regarding the camera.

This piece of work was made with just an earlier iPhone and iPad. Don't know if it will make a huge difference to the camera footage:

Definitely seems like a software issue. UnboxTherapy is an abrasive channel though.

I’d say the inability to charge an iPhone is a problem.

What kind of video would you prefer?

An accurate one, calling a bug that apparently sometimes requires user interaction to kick off charging? Can’t say I’ve experienced it in months of beta testing, or in use of XS Max at all.

I was able to consistently make it (a) not charge and (b) charge, when I plug in the lightning cable on my iPhone XS MAX.

To (a) not charge, set the device to lock mode by pressing the power button once--screen goes dark, then plug in the lightning cable as gently as possible, not shaking the iphone at all. Then it will not charge, and when the device is shaken/tapped, it will show that it is not charging.

To (b) charge, just insert the lighting cable quite violently, shaking/moving the device a bit, it will charge.

I suspect that the software was written to require the iPhone motion sensor to be triggered when a lightning cable is inserted during the locked-screen mode to charge. This is probably written to conserve power by having less powered components during locked mode.

That is just one iPhone XS MAX experiment, not sure about the others.

Mmmhhh, selective insertion behavior.
Could be Apple spin by Tim: disguising a trillion pounded gorilla behind a mere female profile...

Absolutely it will look better. How old was the iphone used to make that video? The video has various problems at various times throughout--
Out of focus
over-saturated colors
washed out
Not to mention a lot of poor framing with the sun in the background

I have this problem with my iPhone XS Max - however I generally always tap my phone to ensure it is charging anyways - always have done with previous phones too!
Its a bug nonetheless, and one I hope gets fixed in the next update!

Someone please invite this guy to the next Apple event so he can shut up.

I had to log on just to upvote your comment. He really can not hide it on his video the frustration of not being invited. And if I was Apple I would never invite this guy. I would not trust him at all. Matter of fact, his entire YouTube carriere is buld through "BendGate" and since then he have been trying hard to replicate that.

I don't think Lew is unfair. From my experience he's one of the most honest reviewers out there. He's not saying anything that Apple wouldn't say. When I popped back into the store to get an XS replacement because of #sleepgate (separate issue from #chargegate), and told them the issue I was facing, the guy was like "OMG! That's terrible, that's not the experience we want you to have." And doooh, of course not. The higher the price, the higher the expectation. Having said that, I understand that sometimes you get a dud. I've had an ATI Radeon card die on me after just a week. Did I avoid ATI cards in the future? Of course not. Used many more before and after, and they performed excellently.

On the first XS I got, I had both #sleepgate and #chargegate. On the second one, I have neither issues. Might be fixable with software, but I'd be careful calling it just a bug. Both issues feel at least induced by hardware somehow. But again, having said that, it's an amazing phone and a fantastic piece of technology. Is there no Android alternative to it? There probably is, but I also prefer iOS as an operating system and Apple's privacy policy over Google's.

I seem to have this problem periodically with my iPhone X. Plug in and the charge doesn't start the first time. Unplug and replug, and it will start. Once started, charging goes completely fine.

I thought it was perhaps the cable, but the same cable works perfectly with an iPhone 7.

He is not stating it is a hardware issue though. He even is saying in the video that his "gut" is telling him it is a software problem... So in what he is not "accurate"? I also don't get the hate he still gets here. Apple isn't a holy cow you're not allowed to critize. All he does in this video is pointing to and describing an existing issue (not charging is an issue...) and actually not in an unfair way in my opinion.

I for one think its good that he created and posted the video. We know its an issue that is affecting many users (myself included). The more publicity that we can get across to Apple the better. Hopefully its on Apple's radar now and they can implement a fix in the next update.

Similar to when Dave Lee posted RE the i9 MacBook throttling issue. If that hadn't of happened people would have suffered in silence. His publicity highlighted the issue to Apple in the first instance.

Whether Lewis is a hater or a lover is irrespective of the issue. There is an issue, and he highlighted it.

I did not have this issue on my original iPhone Xs Max, but have it on my current iPhone Xs Max and my iPad Pro 10.5 (only recently appeared on iPad).

God I dislike that guy so much. One of those youtubers you simply cannot figure out how he has so many viewers and subscribers. Its sad that people like him make huge amounts of money whilst genuinely good content creators get peanuts.
