You're actually pretty accurate, despite the "head-in-sand" thumb down votes. Rarely is there a Mac or iOS update that doesn't in some way have a battery bug (either directly or indirectly via BT or WiFi).
I imagine he’s more getting downvotes for his confrontational attitude, rather than whether or not he is correct.

Actually I know a number of Window users who have this issue. Not sure if it's bluetooth though. But their devices would run hot during sleep or hibernation and drain all the battery.
If their devices are running hot, then they are actually ON, not in sleep or hibernation. Somewhat common for people who click SHUT DOWN and then just close their lid before the laptop actually shuts down, leaving stuck apps and a system that isn't actually shutting down.

It looks ok here - I'm on the latest macOS 12.2 with 3 bluetooth devices (speaker, airpod Pro and mouse)

Happened to me on my late 2019 16" MBP, installed the update while plugged into power, rebooted the MBP no apps were left running and I closed the lid. I unplugged the MBP the battery was 100% and went to bed.

When I woke up and opened the MBP lid it would not wake from sleep. I didn't know what was wrong at the moment so I plugged the MBP back into power and tried to get it to wake up. The chime sounded it woke up and showed 1% battery. It went from 100% to 1% overnight with the lid closed and nothing running.

I'm actually happy to see it's an issue and not actually something wrong with my expensive laptop.

Interesting faster power drain observations in extended sleep mode with 12.2. I always make sure MBP turned off overnight, or not using it for some time on battery, but now something to watch for with 12.3 beta.

This has something to do with iOS 15 and handoff. Ever since I upgraded my iOS devices (especially HomePod) to iOS 15 my MacBook Pro's bluetooth service has been acting up. Unreliable Trackpad connection, AirPlay issues, bluetoothd suddenly consuming high CPU. The trackpad issue could be reliably caused by talking to Siri on the HomePod until I reset it.

Do you guys have Screen Time turned on? Suggest to turn this off, pointless if you are the sole users. I find this is only useful for people who has no self control or for a child usage monitoring purpose.

Otherwise, this will drain everything overnight as it is constantly logging every activities even in sleep.

“Behaving like Windows”. What a child. Owned Windows PCs my entire life. Never had this issue.

Maybe, it’s “Behaving like a Mac!”

Cue down votes from fanboys.
I’ve been using Windows devices for many years. I see behavior like this regularly. My Dell laptop would never hibernate appropriately. There were multiple times I’d pull it from my bag and have the fans running at full speed with the system burning hot and the battery almost dead. It didn’t take long for me to learn to shut it down every time I needed to close the lid. This wasn’t a Microsoft issue, it was a Dell issue, but it affects computers running Windows.

My desktop (Windows 11) cannot hibernate either. Well, it can hibernate but is not reliable in hibernation. It works maybe 1 in 10 times. I’ve tried everything possible to fix the issue. It’s a fairly common issue in the Windows world to have computers that do not sleep as expected.

This is precisely one of the reasons I recently purchased a MacBook Pro — to have a computer actually hibernate as expected. So far, so good. It’s such a relief to be able to close my laptop and come back to it 8 hours later and have the battery percent exactly the same as it was the night before.

Having the issue here on my 2018 MBP 15”. Will turn off Bluetooth overnight to test.

Having the same issue after updating to 12.2

Going to terminal and running

pmset -g log | grep sleep

gives below message, repeating over and over again right at the point when the charger is unplugged and the Mac is put to sleep:

Delays to Sleep notifications: [com.apple.apsd is slow(1012 ms)] [com.apple.bluetooth.sleep is slow(2282 ms)]

At least I can stop the debugging now....

I haven't experienced this myself (still on macOS 11.6.2), but does un-checking System Preferences -> Bluetooth -> Advanced -> "Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer" solve the issue?

Most issues related to Bluetooth and sleep seem to get fixed by turning off that option, at the cost of your Bluetooth mouse/keyboard not being able to wake up your Mac.
I was thinking the same thing, I cannot find this option in 12.3. Maybe it is always set to on?

I think it is time for people to get serious and try to see what is going on. I know the wake on bluetooth setting is missing, and I know I do not have this problem on 12.3, nor did I have this problem on 12.2. so these are the settings that could impact energy usage that I use (and don't have the problem):

  • Sleep, after 5 minutes
  • Firewall On, no unnecessary "allow incoming connections"
  • Turn display off after 15 minutes
  • Prevent Mac from automatically sleeping: off
  • Wake for network access: off
  • Schedules: none
  • Sharing: all off, except for Airplay receiver

I'm sure that this is not an exhaustive list, but I don't have problem. The only bluetooth device I use are AirPods Pro, so no mouse, keyboard or trackpad

Still having a pink screen of death since Big Sur and M1!
The only time I have seen this was with an incorrect/corrupted color profile or Night shift turned on and set to a warm color profile. I had an external monitor set up that looked like crap, checked color profile and set it properly, fixed the problem in about 3 seconds. I don't use Night Shift, but can clearly duplicate this by turning it on and setting to warm

Clearly why when I put my mac to sleep since the update it wakes back each time. I thought maybe it was waking for my NAS but wake for network activity being off didn't help.

Setup:
16 inch 2019 MBP
2.4 GHz i9
CalDigit TS3 Plus Dock
Two external monitors
Apple TouchID Keyboard (Bluetooth)
Logitech MX 3 Master mouse (Using Bluetooth, not RF)
The only time I have seen that - it was the external monitors doing something funky and in so doing woke the Mac

I did all of these things (on 12.2) and still had the wake issue. Although mine was due to Wi-Fi and not Bluetooth (I don’t use any Bluetooth peripherals). Ultimately, turning off Wi-Fi before sleep fixed the issue. Haven’t tested 12.3 yet.

Is Wi-Fi the common culprit? Had just resigned myself to turning off BT at the end of the day. Et tu, Wi-Fi?

My favorite issue that hasn’t been fixed in several updates is my AirPods will continuously keep connecting to my Mac and setting themselves as the default sound profile regardless of what I’m doing … and it does this while the AirPods are closed in the case. I have to put them in a separate room far enough away that it doesn’t do this. It’s infuriating.
