BlueTooth has been Apple's Achilles heel for years. Sometimes I wonder if Apple should just replace all of its WiFi/BlueTooth engineers.
I've had absolutely no issues that makes me wish I was back on Catalina.I'm waiting to see how this all goes on 12.2 before I update my iMac Pro from Catalina to 12.2 . I saw earlier version were bricking some iMac pros . How is your iMac pro doing otherwise from the Do not disturb feature issue ?
I have M1 iMac and M1 Max MBP running 12.3b1 but haven't tested against this observations. The first thought involves the fact that sleep has Wake up for network access on (default - energy saver) - that involves network traffic, iMessages/iCloud updates for applications. If you don't want any activity period when device is asleep you turn off both wifi/bluetooth. Universal control is using Bluetooth. Perhaps the assumption with this is that most leave a device powered, even a laptop when possible then simply putting it to sleep instead of turning it off, unaware that it wakes up for certain wifi/bluetooth communications all the time. Interested to see whats different now, concerning this threads discussion. Is the issue also present in 12.3 beta 1?
Even some BT 4.0 dongles that previously worked in Catalina and BigSur no longer work in Monterey.BlueTooth has been Apple's Achilles heel for years. Sometimes I wonder if Apple should just replace all of its WiFi/BlueTooth engineers.
I haven’t had many issues other than changing every icon to a new design that is less clear when small in the dock. Why?I'm very unhappy with Monterey even before this bluetooth bug.
I know what you mean, but NO, I have turned those machine into sleep or hibernation mode myself and left them there untouched, often without closing the screen or touching anything after the sleep or hibernate button. The sleep light would come on and blink, or all the lights would turn off when hiberbating. If their devices are running hot, then they are actually ON, not in sleep or hibernation. Somewhat common for people who click SHUT DOWN and then just close their lid before the laptop actually shuts down, leaving stuck apps and a system that isn't actually shutting down.
Yeah my iMac also woke up (without the display turning on) every 20 seconds or so. Really annoying!Prior to 12.2, my macs straight up didn't sleep. iMac 100% of the time, MBP about 25% of the time.
Insanity!
“Behaving like Windows”. What a child. Owned Windows PCs my entire life. Never had this issue.
Maybe, it’s “Behaving like a Mac!”
Cue down votes from fanboys.
Don't forget the annoying orange dot. Now THATS innovationMonterey is such an unbelievably huge hunk of garbage. I keep waiting for a major release that fixes all of the bugs I have with it (on my $4k laptop no less) and it just keeps getting worse. But at least we have a host of idiotic new features that Apple can advertise to the short attention span crowd. Glad I have a notification center I can't turn off while the stability of my incredibly expensive premium flagship computer is just ruined
Strangely enough I haven't experienced this (yet), I've left my M1 Air in sleep mode overnight multiple times now and it hasn't happened. Guess I'll have to keep a look out for this bug.
Apple released macOS Monterey 12.2 earlier this week, and some Mac users who have installed the software update are experiencing excessive battery drain during sleep mode, seemingly due to Bluetooth accessories frequently waking the computers.

The issue has been reported by users across the MacRumors Forums, Reddit, and Twitter over the last several days, but it is unclear how widespread it is.
Affected users say their Mac's battery life drops from 100% to 0% while in sleep mode overnight since updating to macOS 12.2. A few users tried to identify a cause in Terminal and found that Bluetooth accessories are frequently causing a "DarkWake from Deep Idle" that results in the Mac repeatedly waking from sleep, which drains the battery. The issue appears to be affecting both Intel-based Macs and M1-based Macs.
Users report that the issue ceases when Bluetooth is disabled or when all Bluetooth accessories are disconnected from the Mac, but this is not an ideal solution.
Apple seeded the first beta of macOS 12.3 earlier this week, but it is not immediately clear if that version fixes the issue. We have reached out to Apple for comment on the matter and will provide an update if we hear back.

I'm still running Catalina.Don't blame me, I'm still running Big Sur...
Absolutely. My iMac 2020 bluetooth device experience is way less than robust. Both with Apple hardware such as AirPods Max … something else. Apple doesn’t seam to be able to fix it.
I used to think it was a problem with … Intel tech … I guess not now.

Right. We have the orange dot, but (a) I can't use my Mac with 1 external display without it kernel panicking occasionally, (b) 12.2 made it so that I can't even use this monitor with the right scaled resolution because they inexplicably made it low DPI so I have to use a 3rd party app to use the right resolution as it was in 12.1, (c) 12.2 made it so that the fn button on my keyboard which pulled up emoji menu in 12.1 stopped doing so solely because it doesn't have the globe printed on it meaning I need to buy a $150 keyboard to lessen my emoji shortcut from 3 buttons to 1 as there's no way to map it, and (d) now on top of everything there are phantom battery drain issues.Don't forget the annoying orange dot. Now THATS innovation
