I've had spurts of email outage since the .Mac to MobileMe switch over, but nothing long term and I don't have enough emails in my account to have lost any (that I know of).

The issue I've had is with the SMTP gateways - smtp.mac.com and smtp.me.com using Mail.app under Tiger. It refuses to connect the first time, but will connect the second time to send any emails out.

I'm hoping that once all of these email issues get fixed, the issue with the SMTP gateways will work themselves out, too.

I had a couple SMTP error messages today when trying to send an email, then found out the wireless router in our office was on the skitz. After the wireless router was fixed (i.e. rebooted) the SMTP problems went away. So not saying this is your problem, but sometimes it actually isn't mobileme's fault. In the future, i'll try to be more objective. Lesson learned.

doing as apple does, I'm gonna claim, without any proof, that less than 1% of our mobileme problems are uncontrollable/unavoidable on apple's part. Mobileme still needs a lot of work, and I hope the day will come when I won't be ashamed to admit that I paid for this mobile-mess.

Total BS

I STILL can't send e-mail from my MobileMe account that was down for a whole week.

It was up for about a day or two, and now I can get e-mail -- I just can't reply to anyone!

What the F'n use is that?

And based on their BS answers about the 1% thing ("It's actually 10%" and "It's 1 out of 100 servers, so it's about 1% of users') I simply don't believe them.

I'm two fingers from ditching my mac.com e-mail addresses.

Idea, I don't believe them either about the 1% and judging by the massive volume of people on here and other forums, not many others do as well

Thankfully, it does seem that Apple is slowly getting MM better

mobileme status blog just posted saying mail is now restored as of 8:00pm Tuesday night pacific time, is everyone experiencing this?

When I got my first imac earlier this year I signed on to quite a few magazine sites, mainly to see which were worth buying.
of course I gave them all my brand new .mac address, proud dad etc..
Following the latest fiasco, I lost confidence in the mac e-mail system, and contacted all those sites to change my e-mail address to my ISP one.
One side effect of this is that I have been flooded with spam, even though I pay my ISP for protection. Either mac has a good antispam system or their problems didn't allow it through.
So check the bath-water for the baby!

That was one of the first things I checked out, thinking that something had changed. But it happens on every connection I use (which is about 12 different ones throughout the week).

Will have to see if it does the same thing this next week when I move to Leopard.
