My last update on MM mail was 12:31pm on Friday. Nothing since, on the touch, the laptop or via me.com at work on the PC. Thankfully my .me is a complimentary/earned account, and I am not out of money. But my daily lit subscription is getting real backed-up, lol.

I'm on my 6th day without email now. Not only are my accounts inaccessible, but all the previous emails I had are gone. I'm really concerned that, if this is fixed, all the emails I had and all the emails I should have received this past week will be lost forever.

I try accessing www.me.com, but there's no email there, either!

It seems to me this new service was a really dumb idea on the part of Apple. I saw nothing about MobileMe except the push technology (which I really don't need) that was an improvement over .Mac, which had a number of problems and deficiencies that MobileMe doesn't address.

What's the latest word from Apple on this? Will we of the one-percenters be ignored?

Entering day 5 with no email...

Here's what's got me worried. Let's say there was some huge problem and they had lost my emails at their end. When it comes back online and syncs, would that spontaneously wipe all the saved email off my computer? Maybe it's time for a backup...

Maybe it's Time for Time Machine?

Bad Apple

After the misleading video pretending it's all push, the embarrassing flaky service, the poorly-designed iCal To Dos and blah-de-blah only half working, - now - the mail's out, and, I notice, the annual UK charge for MobileMe - which was £46 - has risen to £59!! Oh yes, thank you Apple! - why not charge us more suddenly for this fiasco of a service?!

I don't know what's going on at Apple. There's no way I'd want to rely on this MobileMe (or is that MickeyMouse) "service" for the important information in my life!

I've never seen Apple like this before - and that's since 1987. Perhaps it isn't the Apple I once knew any more.

:apple:

I was down since Thursday, but not anymore. That is because I sent a message, I canceled my service and got my money back. Send a message. Cancel your service and demand a refund for unused time.

I was on a sailing trip this weekend trying to check my .Mac/Me mail using a friend's iPhone through Safari. Every time I went to the login page, I was redirected to an iPhone/Me information page that advised set using Mail on the iPhone. I could not for the life of me get into my mail account via Safari, and was sent on a perpetual loop of unhelpful redirects. Being completely tied to email, this was a problem. I guess I need my own iPhone; stupid Verizon (contract).

Anyone else have a similar problem?

Not only that... upgrades and billing info changes not working!

On my account, I cannot upgrade to a family membership. I also cannot change my billing information. This is incredibly frustrating. Is anyone working on this over there? I can't seem to get an answer.

This does kind of suck... especially since it is a pay service.

Some people are posting any vague answers they have been getting here: http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=116

at the discussion groups and I've seen few blog entries saying by EOD Thursday all should be well.

Yeah I have to agree totally, I'm new to Apple, my 3G iPhone being my first Mac product and that video demonstration of MobileMe really mislead me. I thought it was going to push your existing (non-apple) emails to the iPhone. It's a good thing there was a trial for this service as I've had it for 4 days now and it's abysmal.

Appointments randomly appear and disappear, contact data won't save when edited on-line, mobile me mail 'pushes' hours after arriving in the mobile me inbox online.

The worst bit is the complete lack of customer support, all support emails get returned with a standard response pointing you to the same articles on the Apple website that didn't help you earlier. In-store is even worse, the 'geniuses' have no idea how to support mobile me.

Add to this the fact that the UK price mysteriously leapt up at launch, what a joke (except it's not funny Steve).

All my mail is coming out of order, so if there is a string of emails from friends, I'll usually get the last one sent first and then subsequent emails in a different order. Basically had to tell people not to use my .me account until this is fixed.

I sent a couple of test emails in both directions a couple of hours ago.

Home account -> mobileme.. second message arrived, first never arrived.
mobileme -> Home.. nothing arrived.

Simply not good enough. Slow is one thing.. this is losing mail. God knows how much has been lost - it explains why I haven't received replies for some email I've sent over the last few days.

Why would it? MobileMe has it's own contacts, so you'd have to import your work contacts into MobileMe. Apple doesn't say anything about it, because it's pretty obvious.

because apple said it would. the entire selling point of mobileme is that you can sync your contacts and calendars between a pc, the iphone and a mac as apple clearly states on the mobileme website.

APPLE's STATUS PAGE MESSAGES:

Latest: System Status

1% of MobileMe members cannot access MobileMe Mail. We apologize for any inconvenience. MobileMe Mail All other MobileMe services are online and fully operational

there's an easy solution to the problem. change services and demand your money back. if you come off as a total jerk in person as you did in your chat, they will give up a full refund just to shut you up and get you out.

If service like this continues, Apple should expect quite a bit to in fact do that

MobileME(ss) - Day 7 - no email - no ETA on resolution

I see. I'm sorry you feel that way charlituna. I'm a little frustrated with Apple over their launch of the service and the way they have handled their communications with .mac users, 1% supposedly, who are only having email issues.

So it's day 7 with no email. No status ETA for resolution on the 1% having 'email' issues (though I've seen quite a lot of other issues with their sync/push/cloud in many other posts on this site and many other pubs). The Apple support web.chat service was suspended this afternoon on their site due to high demand in the early PM today but contact via phone from dial tone to human@apple was only 5mins or so. Sadly the support representative had no information to share... Again.

you know why?!?! cause they had to change the name from .MAC to the ****** MOBILE ME!! WTFFF!!!@

WHY MOBILE ME!??!/ .MAC SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER!!1

BAD MOVE ON APPLE....STUPID MOVE....@ME.COM WOW...

@mac.com sounds just better..and cooler....but...me..yeahl..wow cool.

Things a little better???!!!

I thought it was going to push your existing (non-apple) emails to the iPhone....
/QUOTE]

It does. You just need to configure mobile.me mail to check your other account under mail>preferences>other. You can use this to check a POP account anyway. I use it to pick up my email from iiNet. Either that or have your other service forward all your email to your mobile.me mailbox. Most can do this.

Anyway, my service has been intermittently down a lot since Friday and at best slow and flaky. It actually seems a lot better this morning. Hopefully there is some light at the end of the tunnel...

I am surprised that this problem has been so long-lasting. Maybe an outage for 12 hours max, but for days on end, that is ridiculous! Any users who have paid for the service and are still out of their email should receive a free-year's subscription, this outage is just way to long for a company like Apple.

I agree.
I really feel for those (Including myself) who used a .mac address for their important stuff, thinking quite rightly, that as a subscription service, it would be top of the heap.
I think the rot started and continues with Time Capsule, which was obviously rushed out half-baked, and the same thinking has applied to MobileMe which has screwed up a system which was working quite well, thank you.
The question is, who will rush out to buy the next latest Apple gizmo, not me!
i feel like migrating back to MS Windows, at least there I never had the feeling that I had been had.

I can't believe it. In the midst of all these bugs and server/mail problems, I just received an email from Apple advertising the fact that 'MobileMe. [is] Now available."

Aside from the other bugs that haven't been fixed yet, I've also started to have problems with the .me email in the past few days. Problems range from email not pushing to not being able to access email in the webapp.

I don't get it. My email was fine until Monday. Did the problem actually spread? When will the madness end?

Don't understand why people are having problems. My MM works fine.

Count yourself lucky because it was WAY more than 1%. I am on the East Coast and myself and EVERYBODY in my MUG have zero email 5+ days! GMail is getting so many new users now they might be having some problems in the future:)

Apple really dropped the ball on this one. I'll never in my right mind spend 100$ for this nonsense. Email should be free. Apple needs to get off their high-horse and allow for push service for free email accounts like the Blackberry did. I hope this service fails miserably.
To quote Jack speaking to his personal assistant in the "Bucket List":
"Nobody cares what you think!"

I just had a useless chat with Dani from MobileMe support. I asked her how Apple can expect to remain competitive with hosted exchange providers who have significantly less down time, offer 24/7 phone support, and have technical support representatives who are able to provide a thorough answer to questions that are asked.

You could ALMOST hear the crickets chirping.
You should be ashamed of yourself for bullying a poor minimum wage employee with your silly questions.

There *WAS* data loss on MobileMe(ss) email! Ah HA!

Wow, no need to scare people. While there are email issues, no one has reported loss of data stored on the MM (.Mac) server ...

Actually HLdan, there *WAS* data loss.. almost 48hrs worth of 'lost' mail being restored. ;)

QUOTE from MobileMe(ss) Email: "While the vast majority of your email messages will be fully restored, in the affected accounts a small percentage of email messages have regrettably been lost . This includes approximately 10% of messages received between 5:00 a.m. PDT on July 16 and 10:20 a.m. PDT on July 18. For more information, please visit this support article.

Please accept our deepest apologies for this service interruption and any messages you may have lost. We will do everything in our power not to let you down again.

Sincerely,

The MobileMe Team"

Wow. Thanks MobileMe Team! :( :apple:

It only took 10 days to fix my MobileMe for the 1% affected?!?!?!

Now where'd that URL for the IMAP email for 20$ a year go?
