I had activation issues with Verizon, took a few tries but went to a new activation authentication asking for last 4 and account pin. Didn't have this issue with 8 Plus, or previous iPhones. Was weird!

How did you get this new message to pop up?

Also struggling verifying my account information. Have been on the phone with Verizon & Apple for nearly 3 hours now...

Any insight would be greatly appreciated - thanks!
I'm on a chat with their senior advisor. I have little faith though...

Got past the screen! Have either of you moved since you opened your cell service? Even though I updated my billing address over a year ago, I typed in my last zip code (for ***** and giggles), and it activated! What the hell?

Update: Verizon says that customers who purchased a Verizon iPhone X are not experiencing activation issues, but we have heard some reports from Verizon users who are indeed having problems. Verizon activation issues do not seem to be as prevalent as AT&T activation issues, though.

I'm having this issue on Verizon right now with my wife's phone :(

Finally figured out the problem, where I kept getting stuck on social and ZIP Code. AT&T apparently keeps track of your billing address and service address, and frequently does not update your service address. So, although my billing address was correct, and AT&T reps verified that I was using the correct information, they actually wanted my older service address. When I put in my old ZIP Code, it worked immediately. After five hours of trying to figure it out, that was the issue. Pretty annoyed.

Wow, this worked. Thanks!

I looked online and noticed other service addresses, however the address a previous address which wasn't even included in any service address because it was removed from my client side visibility.

Wild, but thankful.

Right... Apple should have handed out a couple million iPhones to people in order to test AT&T's network ensuring that everyone could activate at the same time.

Yeah, it's not like you can simulate a couple million activation requests or anything /s Your snark comment shows you're not familiar with software testing.

Speaking of snark comments... You are wrong. As one who has done a ton of simulation modeling in a variety of engineering disciplines, for conditions such as these, it is never perfect, taking into account all corners of potential variability.

Nevertheless... You might also want to consider who is responsible for provisioning peak server activations where there may be several million simultaneous requests that occur just one day per year (or two). It's not Apple.

Not sure if this will help try activating phone with just the cell signal, sign into the WiFi when you restore from iCloud. I tried for 3 hours to activate with WiFi then turn off and just used cell signal and it worked in less than a second

You might be able to go pick it up at the hub where it's located.

Just tried to do that. I had asked for same day pickup and they told me to be there between 8 and 9pm. Bunch of us were there for the full hour waiting on our packages. Turns out all of ours were from the same driver and he didn't pull any of the will call packages. Pretty much only people from our truck were there for iphones, so it almost seems like he didn't deliver our packages to spite us. I hope he gets written up on Monday.

Bummed! Waited until now to unbox. Was impressed w new pair / scanning account setup.

Then I get to ssn / zip code entry and enter my info correctly 3 times. Boom get the following message:

Could not activate iPhone

Verizon was unable to verify your identity using the information you provided.

To assure your account security, there is a limit in the number of attempts that can be made to verify your account information. To continue your iPhone activation, you’ll need to call 1-800-my-iPhone for assistance. Unfortunately, you will not be able to use your iPhone until your identity can be verified.

I am stuck at this screen but have not tried to reboot yet. I called the number and waited on hold for 10 minutes. Gave a lot of info to the Apple rep.

The rep asked for the exact screen info, then put me on hold for 5 more minutes.

The rep came back on and said that this is an “emerging issue” and that she was going to put me on with a senior rep. Back on hold now.

I would have tried my old zip code if I knew, I have moved in the past year. I thought the server was just overwhelmed.

Anyway, i wish it was something as simple as verifying my id, such a killjoy in setup of this device. Very not appley.

I had problems activating today. My solution was use a SIM from another provider, so I knew immediately that AT&T was getting slammed. So when I activated another iPhone X, I skipped the AT&T SIM all together.

Wow. Okay. Rep was waiting for tier two support and asked me to try all zeros.

This required a restart, which needs this sequence: up volume, down volume, hold power.

Then i was able to restart the fancy pairing and enter the zeros, did not work.

Thanks to this thread I tried my old address zip code and it worked.

This also immediately disconnected me from my call. They called back and I explained what happened. Rep was surprisingly uninterested in how I made it eventually go through, just happy problem was solved.

Anyhow secret if stuck here is do reset sequence and try an old zipcode. There is no identity check or call needed.

Verizon user here. Upgrading from an iphone 7, had to call a number from the old phone to get it activated.

It took two attempts with my ATT phone but everything else went perfectly. This is no big deal and ATT is a class act.

Is anyone maybe having issues with dead spots on their screen? I made a video detailing this.

Same here. But it’s really just not working when you swipe directly from the time, a little bit higher and it works.

Just figured out that it isn’t a dead spot. When you using safari f.e and touch on the time it will scroll up to the top of the website - same with the messages app.

I am so fortunate for not having activation issues like others reported. Maybe because I received the phone after 5pm and the activation server issue had been addressed.

This is what finally made it work for me last night. I still had to restart it again after switching to LTE though.. What a mess. Actually the restore from iCloud had gotten stuck before while on wifi. The whole issue is confusing

Verizon issues for me too. Here is what worked for me - nothing! It took over two hours of trying and failing trying all the various suggestions and then as soon as I got in the queue for Verizon support the phone activated.

[doublepost=1509797297][/doublepost]I’m on the Verizon network and the same things is happening with me. I was on phone with the carrier and Apple but no one can seem to fix it. I restored the phone and updated it to 11.1 still no joy. Very frustrating and disappointing.

Same issue. Driving me nuts.

Apple support says I need a new SIM from Verizon because the one shipped isn’t matching my zip code for some reason. I’m skeptical, but maybe Verizon shipped a bunch of messed up sims? I’m going to Verizon shortly. This has been a crappy couple of days Apple/Verizon.

If that was true you should be able to use your old sim but when I swapped them it still wouldn’t activate. Something is going on in Apple land that’s preventing the activation.

I completely agree. I’m at Verizon now ... sim swap didn’t work. They’re on the phone with Apple now.
