I ended up swapping my new SIM card into the X and then it flew through the activation process but I had no service. Swapped SIM cards again (new SIM in new phone) and I'm activated with service. Ran the OSX 11.1 update just fine after that. All is well! Loving the interface but I'll miss the home button for awhile.

mine worked fine this morning, but my wife is now home and unable to get hers to activate. both on AT&T. i've plugged hers into iTunes to try it that way too, no go... anyone have other tips?

this feels like the original iPhone launch, when I think my phone took about 12 hours to finally activate with AT&T!
I agree. Mine didn’t activate until the next afternoon for the first iPhone! Today mine activated immediately but my son’s won’t activate.

RE: Update: --- I purchased an iPhone X through VZW, and I am in fact having activation issues. Very frustrating. Going on 2 hours now.

I had a slight issue with activating when I first turned my phone on. Then I tried it again and it worked with no problems. Seems like the servers were overloaded, nothing to really worry about.

Same here. But after I put in my SSN and Zip Code, it says my info is incorrect. Customer Service has no idea what to do..

Only hold with VZW for 45+ minutes... tier 2 tech support still not able to solve my issue.
Saying Find My iPhone is still activated, even though they can see it's not, and still unable to activate.

Also struggling verifying my account information. Have been on the phone with Verizon & Apple for nearly 3 hours now...

Any insight would be greatly appreciated - thanks!
At least it's not just me. Although I'm having the issue with AT&T

Verizon confirms Apple activation servers down. AT&T clients having same issue. My new phone's ID and IMEI show on my Verizon account. When plugged in via USB in iTunes everyone gets blank screen and no response from Apple and iTunes.

Hmmmm! Interestingly enough this doesn’t seem to effect the rest of the world apart from couple US carriers.

I just activated my phone (AT&T). It failed the first time after a minute, and on the second attempt worked flawlessly.

Surprisingly no trouble activating with crappy Tmo but you do have to call in. It was quick though all went smooth.

Mine failed the first try. Then asked if I wanted to try again using wifi or LTE. Did the wifi option and it activated without issue.

Meh, it gets the time, battery, and wifi out of the way so you have even more screen real estate. You may notice it now but like anything, you won't even notice it after a couple days of use and love the extra screen you get.

Notch does stand out but yeah could just take time getting used to. I was kinda eye shocked at the smaller screen size, I'm used to 7 Plus the screen looks pretty tiny but when you look at the specs on the Apple web site X has the largest screen size hmmm. When you look at both phones side by side the X appears much smaller. I do like the smaller frame though for sticking in pocket but let's see how the screen size works out.

Hmm forgot all about the huge edge (aka border whatever you wanna call it) on the 7 plus although the width of the screen does look wider on the 7 plus.

I experienced the same activation issue today with my new X on Verizon. Part of the problem (in my case) appears to be related to a DNS server configuration change with my ISP Spectrum which is causing outages across the US for the past 24 hours. Resetting my modem twice with Spectrum did nothing to stabilize and restore my Internet speed so I went back to my Verizon store and immediately activated my X using their guest network.

When I got back home, I reset my modem and router (Apple Time Capsule) then "forgot" and recreated my home SSID config on all of my wireless devices. Once I did that, stable high-speed connectivity was restored and all of my cloud data pulled into my new X.

Google fiber can't get to my town quick enough...

slight issue with activating right at first. hung on the screen verifying the phone number. i launched iTunes to listen to some music and a screen verifying my zip and social came up. entered in iTunes and boom, down the road we go.

Haven't had great success on the Apple side, my gut says it's a Verizon issue -- I was disconnected and am now holding again for level 1 service... more to come.

Verizon couldn't figure out the problem. Apple couldn't either. I'm stuck failing Verizon identity verification (billing zip code & last 4 of SSN) -- tried, the zero's trick to no avail. Any ideas for next steps?

My activation screens went right through and said the worked, giving me control to set up my phone. A few minutes later i got a pop up saying the activation failed. Since we dont have cell service out here, and im not going anywhere this weekend, I’ll figure it out when i go to work Monday. Ill probably end up with 2 phones neither of which will have a number lol...

I had activation issues with Verizon, took a few tries but went to a new activation authentication asking for last 4 and account pin. Didn't have this issue with 8 Plus, or previous iPhones. Was weird!
