I don't even know where to begin... it's been quite awhile since a thread in a forum got me this riled up! I had a whole rant that I had typed, but surely it would have put me in "time out" so the cleaned up version instead (still written in the heat of the moment):
First, SHAME ON YOU to those that dare judge a book by it's cover. Get out of the dark ages, it's the 21st Century!
Besides myself being inked (with only two tats, one on the back of my neck and a large piece on my right forearm... and more to come) - me, being a professional composer, photographer, filmmaker, designer and author with a certified-by-Mensa higher IQ than ANY of you that are spewing hate towards those that are inked - the majority of my friends are also tattooed, much heavier than I; friends that included Restauranteurs at the top restaurants both here in Portland and in Los Angeles (my home town), Rocket Scientists, Micro Biologists, Tech Entrepreneurs, Doctors and Surgeons, a Wine Maker with his own award winning Vineyard... and I could go on and on. All upper middle-class professionals, that happen to be liberal... ah, I see where all this hate is all actually coming from now!
STOP this insane judgement towards people that are different than you! If you need to justify your own mediocre and boring middle-of-the-road identity due to lack of personal creativity and your "conservative" values, I'm sure there's a republican support group or church outing that will let you wear pointy white hoods which you can join.
*
Anyway, let's forget about my own friends that I mentioned, how about
an article from either Forbes or
this one that actually lists and shows many heavily tattooed professionals, again, from Doctors to Corporate Attorneys to Scientists and beyond.
And for those that won't bother clicking on the links:
Dave, a Corporate Attorney in Boston -
Bob, an Assistant Professor of Sociology at St. Lawrence University -
Robert, Director of Analysis for a NYC Govermental Agency -
NYC Attorney and Author Marissa -
Leah, an MD at a St. Louis Children's Hospital -
.. and SO many more.
*NOTE: I really didn't want to turn this into a political thing, but it seems that's what it always winds up being, Conservatives (the very definition meaning: "
to hold on to traditional values, cautious of change or innovation, conventional, reactionary") bashing on Liberals (liberals: "
to liberate, set free, open-minded, tolerant, enlightened, unprejudiced, un-bigoted" you know, just like both our Declaration of Independance and Pledge of Allegiance promises...
liberty for all!)
