So, what's the point of the Apple Status page again, if when a very large portion of users can't get into iTunes, and Apple ID's are failing on multiple devices, the status page just continues to show a happy green color as if everything is just great?

What the heck, Apple?

----------

for the last 3 weeks I've had to enter my apple id almost on a daily basis. My iphone keeps forgetting it and I get logged out of game center and many other apple services that use my apple id.

I hope they make a fix soon.

I'm not sure that's Apple's servers so much, as it is your device. I had this happen on my daughter's iPad. It kept logging her out of things like Facetime and iMessage randomly. I logged out of everything on the phone (all services Facetime, iMessage, iCloud, etc), and then did a Network Setting reset on the device, and then logged back into everything and then it started working fine. Been fine since.

Sorry to hear this

My Apple sign in ID is working on my Macbook Air,iPhone4,and my iPad2.Didnt have any trouble last night either.Hope it gets solved for those affected:eek:

Everything has been working fine for me. I had the problem last not but it didn't say fatal error it simply said cannot login to iTunes try again. Tried it this morning and it works. I didn't do anything different.

This worked for me

Someone did reply with a potential fix (and it worked for me) in the forums last night. You need to go to create a new apple ID within iTunes, pass the part where you accept the terms and conditions, and then don't proceed with creating a new ID, but instead log back into your old one.

It seems to want people to accept terms and conditions again...weird fluke, but at least the fix worked for now...

Thank you!!

I got the same error on my Apple TV this morning when I wanted to watch a TV show I already owned! This, of course, is part of the problem of the whole streaming model of Apple TV, rather than the old style where the show would actually be stored locally. Why should I have to log in every time I want to watch or listen to something I already own?

Yes, I have an older Apple TV and I've got about 75 TV episodes I can watch with no waiting. Cloud storage only is not best for the consumer.

I've been unable to log in since last night. Just tried again and it finally worked. Don't know if it's fully fixed, but it seems they're working on it.

Ditto. Had the problem up until just now and tried logging in and it's fixed.

Not being able to access the App Store for a relatively brief period of time. It's the end of the world as we know it.

Considering the amount of purchased content (including iTunes Match) that this login requires, its no small deal either.

Its one thing if you can't go on and buy more stuff for a while. Its a whole other thing to cut you off from what you've purchased or subscribed to.

If the error is fatal, then I should not see it again, right? I mean, fatal means it died. So the error shouldn't exist anymore.

how so?

Keep your data local if you want constant access to it.

Signed into iTunes without any problems. I'd be curious if this was a regionally-specific problem?

And what a horrible error message! Almost as bad as the 'OK' buttons they've started putting on dialog boxes instead of verb-labeled buttons.

That's not who the devices or services are designed/intended anymore.

So, I'm pretty sure the definition of the word 'fatal' is death. For this reason I feel this warning sign is an exaggeration. Unless users are going to start dying.

So that's what it was... I was trying in vain last night to enter my password again and again... and thought my account was hacked or something...

Where are you getting your numbers from? You say it's a large portion, not just a tiny micro-fraction of a percent. I wouldn't expect to see any change on the Status Page below a certain threshold. How do we know the problem is large?

If the massive scale of this is really just a "sense we get" because multiple people did a search and found each other on support forums created for such a purpose, then that's not useful data. The number of people posting complaints may seem notable, but is still tiny compared to the number of iTunes users. There needs to be some other source of numbers before we say the problem is a "large portion" of users and needs to be on the Status page.

Changing the Status page for a very small-scale problem would be misleading and detract from the long-term usefulness of the page.
