"Ships July/August."

Apple wont release it until they have them in-stock and made.

Thank god, I could wait another month at least I'll know that I can sell my mbp without taking the $800 hit loss since no new mbp. :D

That July/August sounds like it'll ship in 2-3 weeks. Usually means end of the month (july) when its advertised like that.

I owned the sony vaio tz from last year and I have to say I like the last years model design better.

Too much hype around the iPhone right now, Apple wouldn't want to ruin that.. If it's a complete redesign / something to show off about, then Apple will hold a conference for it and wouldn't just announce it. Plus, the back to school promotion is still going.

I suspect August

3. They know I want one.
I'm important. Since I want one they will definitely be updated before September.

There you have it.

That's the best reason to release one now, or in a month. I want one too. Give me my macbook-pro-in-a-macbook-air-styled-casing-pro now!

The more minor the update, the sooner we will see it.

If it's a big update then we are going to have to wait.

End of story, it's highly unlikely that we are going to see new notebooks with case redesigns tomorrow. That being said, I can still dream!!

I don't believe that the TZ design has changed from last year. Upgrades have been to hardware only i believe like the processor and hard drive so what exactly is it that you don't like about the current TZ then?

I would like to get a Mac again but the MBA just makes to many compromises for me. The SZ and the Z are excellent in terms of power, battery life and portability.

I've always thought a vaio is the closest to "mac-like" computer that you can get that isn't actually a mac. Their design is really nice and sleek, they feel well built, but they also tend to be more expensive than macbooks. For portability, I'd still get an Air + DVD drive, just in case, I rarely use one though.

16.1"?????

Who wants a 16.1" laptop??? What kind of screen is that? And no Apple won't release a new MBP this month, my guess is that it will happen after the back to school sale ends.

Those new screens have a different aspect ratio 16:9, while most monitors are 16:10. So they're aiming at movies to give you a more "theatre like" experience.

The one thing I hate about Sony is that they have WAY TOO many computers. They have like over 20 different laptops for sale and they all feature so many things which is great, but it is very overwhelming to shop on that site. All they need is 1 ultraportable line, 1 consumer, and 1 pro line. Thats it.

Oh, didn't know that. But IMO it won't see wide adoption, all the accessories for current laptops are designed to fit 13.3, 15.4, and sometimes 17" screens.

But doesnt sony have 1 of each.. its just they show you a bunch of different configs that makes it look confusing?

No, Sony has 9 laptops, and they all fall into multiple categories it's almost as confusing as Apple's lineup was before Steve came back.

Oh ok I see it now, man how many models do they have? There's the SR, SZ, TZ, Z, CR, FZ, NR, FW, AR.. that's insane~!

Me. Wide screen. Toshiba is also coming out with an 18.6 widescreen too. I'm thinking end of August for MBP.

Dear God, I hope not. Just what I need a bigger laptop, ugh/ I'd be ok with it if they keep the current sizes in addition to 16:9 screens.

No, It's all you can deal with. Are you so easliy confused ? So nobody should have more choices cause you can't figure out what the different models do ? Amazing.
