I plan to keep my 2 yr old mini to at least Tim stepped down, and hopefully some 'sane customer person' have replaced him.
But if they don't relese a smaller iPhone again - ther's 2 options:
1 - Apple release a flip that is small enough in smallest version that can replace the mini.
2 - The Samsung flip looks and seems very nice otherwise.
Yeah, I think a folding iPhone may be the only possible option for current mini owners who want to stick to iOS. It may not be ideal for some current mini owners, but it could come close enough for others. The only major obstacle for some will probably be the price.

Pocket? If you ask my wife, she doesn't want anything bigger than the 12 mini *in her purse*.

Your wife was evidently not enough for Apple to keep their assembly lines running. Meantime other wives cheekily upgraded their purses to fit their larger phones. ;)

Want a mini? Just buy an Apple Watch. Can't get much smaller than that.

[Sorry - I couldn't resist. 😇]

As a 12 and 13 mini owner myself. Let us move on… we’d all love one but we are the minority. The one pushback I’ll give is to people that say I would buy a pro mini. Guess what? Never could happen. Physics is a real thing. You want super duper camera with extra lenses, the best processor, brightest screen and battery life for days? PLUS being small?

Well I don’t see how that can work. I do agree with the new modems and battery technology maybe instead of thinner we can go smaller. A friend mentioned to me recently that the air was not stupid. I called it stupid since who wants even thinner when what we want is better battery life. He said the thinness (with equal battery life) is just a precursor to the foldable. Makes perfect sense.

I think the current form factor/price is gone. The next foldable will be iPhone/book type for a huge price and MAYBE in due time they try clamshell. But clearly a premium price requires them to sell it as an iPhone/iPad hybrid. Apple marketing will try to make us believe we will SAVE money.

Long live the mini but … we are vocal/small minority. People have spoken with their wallets and apple listened. Our mini threads is just for our egos.

But I need one. If it were a Pro Mini model and not a staggered delay release, I think the numbers would have been significantly more favorable.
I would buy 2 of them at launch even if they cost more than the bigger sizes 🤞
This is a fact. In today's it's the naming model that is driving sales. Almost everyone I know has an iPhone Pro and majority of them do not even know about the "pro" features, let alone use them. They just want they are told is the "latest and greatest." A "budget" or physically smaller is seen as inferior for no reason.

I just don't understand why people love to use their stupid phones so much, i rather use a computer with real display real estate, hate these small screens. I just want the basic iPhone back, easy to use, good screen to check my emails and calendar and call somebody, maybe listen to music, done.

The mini was great but the battery life sucked and it was to expensive. I do wish phones would stop growing 😂 6.1 is far to big imo.

And honestly the only pro feature I wanted in the mini was the better cameras. Battery life was fine for me.

I love my 13 mini, and won't upgrade until it's broken and then re-assess what to do in terms of the lineup at that time.

Meanwhile, if they just updated the mini every two or three years, I would've already upgraded.

The mini form factor is superior.

Latest reports are that while technically it will be 5.5 inches, it won’t be shaped like a Mini.
It will be a lot wider, so when you open it it will have close to a 16X10 aspect ratio.
Kinda like this…
So…not Mini.

Yeah I'm already steadying my expectations that it will be short and fat, like that Huawei, or the 1st and 2nd generation Oppo Find N folders. (5.5" and 7.1")

My major objection to big phones is the ability to hold and type one-handed with a good grip on the device. So I'm desperately rationalising that although it will be much wider than the mini, at least it wont be tall so maybe less likely to topple out my stubby fingers.

I dunno - 1st world problem, I know.
